Has anyone had this done instead of the sleeve? If so what were the results? Is it working well? Complications? I've been doing a bit of research and am torn between the two.

Have any of you noticed a difference in weather or not you snore? If you ever did that is. My fiancé has been snoring more than usual and it is driving me insane. I have enough insomnia from being pregnant but I want to smother him! Hoping weight is a factor.

If anyone has any source of wisdom jeans (usually sold at torrid) in size 20/22/24 let me know! I love their jeans and torrid has an awful selection of them now (not to mention shipping is $50 to Canada).

I'm looking to go to Mexico for surgery but am so afraid to fly afterwards. It just doesn't seem safe to me and I'm sure my family dr will be completely against it. I know the chances are slim but I can't help but be hesitant. I have a family I can't afford to die doing something I have the choice to do.

So I am having my second c section in march (first was an emergency). My surgeon said I would be ok to get the sleeve in June. Has anyone else been sleeved so close after having a baby!
-
Ok so I've been doing lots of browsing through the forums. Lots of people eat about 800-1000 cals on average. Now to those who have been sleeved, is this a huge change from the amount of calories you were eating before surgery? I ask because before I was pregnant I would only eat 900 cals a day (tracked in mfp). I exercised daily and did this for over 5 months and only lost 15lbs. By logic shouldn't a person who hasn't been sleeved but eats and drinks and exercises as if they had been loose weight similarly to those that have actually been sleeved? I'm having my daughter on feb 18 by c section. They require me to be on a clear liquid diet 2 days after and then soft foods for 2 or 3 days after. If I were to do a liquid diet for a week and a soft food diet for 2 weeks and then start eating as if I had been sleeved (very small portions, no drinking while eating, lots of Protein, low carb) should I not get the same results I would get if I Had actually been sleeved? I'm very curious to find out do if I get the go ahead from my dr this is what I will be doing. I've been so strict with what I eat my entire life and have still continued to gain weight. I'm almost sure it is because of some underlying medical condition. I was tested when I was young (about 8) at a clinic for overweight children run by a university and was told my metabolism is 40% it should be but they've never done anything about it, or ever told me how to deal with this.

Ectasy And Cocain Lol
amitch17 replied to DIRTYMESKIN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not like people get addicted to ecstasy. It's the type of drug you wouldn't wanna be on all the time. I did quite a bit of it in high school. But it scares me now, you really never know what you're getting. If I really needed to do it again I would get pure MDMA made by a chemist. Cocaine on the other hand could become an issue (I had a big problem with it for several years) and I won't ever touch it again. -
What if you shook all the carbonation out? Could you have a dip of flat pop?

I'm from Ontario, how much was it for you to get travellers insurance. My mom is convinced it's super expensive.

Anyone?

It's only a 6 hr flight so that makes me feel a bit better.

52 Pounds Down 5 1/2 Months After Surgery
amitch17 replied to Adahlia's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Looks like you lost alot more than 50 lbs. awesome work! -
If you search 'flying surgery' on this forum there Are so many people saying its an absolute no no and extremely dangerous. That freaks me out.
-
I know everyone always says that but the fact of the matter is that it isn't safe. I have to fly out of either Toronto or buffalo. So not sure how long the flight is. I've never even been on a plane before so I'm sure that also has to do with my added anxiety.
-
I would also love to know!

Yes several times throughout my life. But they said its a very tricky thing to test for as bloodwork may be fine one hour and screwed up the next. It took my moms friend over 15 times for it to show up. I'm going to try and get the surgery covered by ohip so that I'm not paying out of pocket. I'm only 21 so even if I have to wait a year or two it's not the end of the world. If all else fails I will go to Mexico. I guess my biggest concern about Mexico is flying after surgery. My dr doesn't advise it because of blood clots. This terrifies me.
-
Ya I hope so, thanks. It's true, drs seem to assume all fat people are lazy and eat 3500 calories a day. It's actually quite irritating.
-
I have in the past yes and followed their orders and gained 20lbs (this was when I was 12). I'm going to ask at my next drs appt to be referred. Who knows how long the waiting list is.
-
Usually 2 meals and 4 Snacks. And yes I track my food religiously. I also believe there is an underlying cause. Just wish my dr would listen to me. I'd get a new one if it was an option, here in Ontario there is a huge shortage of drs.

Well kind of, I haven't set a date or anything and am going to look into ohip covering it if I go to the states (less wait time). It's just that I don't want to spend $7000 if its not going to help. 800 calories is 800 calories, doesn't matter how big your stomach is. If I can't loose weight living on 800 calories for over 5 months without the sleeve why should that change once I have the surgery? This is my only concern. It just makes me wonder. I've searched the Internet and forum High and low to find someone else who only ate around 1000 calories BEFORE being sleeved and still gaining weight and have had zero luck. It seems like everyone ate a ton and never tracked their intake and once they were sleeved they just consumed less and kept track and lost a bunch of weight. I've been doing that for years now.
-
I've always been overweight though. And 2000 calories is alot for me. Even being 9 months pregnant I'm only eating 1,400. I've been tracking my calories for over 5 years. Sure there are days I eat around 2500 but that's very rare (usually when we go to dinner and a movie). It just seems like everyone started eating 800 cals a day and magically started loosing. I only eat 900-1000 cals when in not pregnant and I don't loose weight. Very frustrating.

Ya see I'm not diabetic or on any prescriptions (other than nexium). Just irritates me when I see people eating sooo unhealthy and being lazy and people and they start eating vegetables and lose like 50 lbs. I wish it was that easy, I hate being associated with people who generally don't care about their health and eat WAYYY too much or WAYY too unhealthy. I have always ate very healthy. I exercise, I don't eat tons of junk, I don't eat obscene portions and yet I still gain weight. It's like I have to try 5 times harder than everyone else. The only time I ever lost alot of weight was when I was 17 and sooo sick of being fat despite eating well and going to the gym everyday. And I just stopped eating, I was horribly bulimic, but would never binge I'd only eat once a day if that, I abused drugs and laxitives alot. It's not fair that I had to resort to that. I would skip school to workout for 3 hours at a time. That approach isn't an option anymore, I am a mother and an adult with responsibilities.

WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU
amitch17 replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ya my mom always tried natural approaches before turning to medicine. There are sooo many homeopathics for so many different symptoms and conditions and they have always worked wonders for me. The only time I will take western medicine is my nexium (which is a necessity). And anti biotics for my strep throat I get from time to time that usually lands me in the hospital with iv's because it gets so bad. -

Homeopathics! I hate western medicine so they are the only thing I use. You can get them at health food stores. Also take a table spoon of organic honey sprinkled with lots of cinnamon and swallow. Sip on lemon Water (can add some apple cider vinegar if you can stand it). Suck on zinc lozenges. This is all I ever do when I am sick and it works every time. Also garlic and echinacea help tons. -
How many calories do you pregnant ladies eat in a day? I seem to be getting flack about only eating 1400 cals a day (I'm pre op) people day that's way to low but I don't starve myself I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I'm 36 weeks.
