  2. Im going through the same thing as we speak. Had surgery yesterday and I cant get all my required liquids in. Ive just been taking really small sips, or using a small spoon to drink from. It still hurts but not as much. Also warmer stuff feels better
  3. Had my surgery yesterday, came home today and it hurts to drink anything. I even tried luke warm water and warm broth. It still hurts like a bubble of air is keeping anything from going down. Im so scared about dehydration, help..

I hv staples too. I don't understand why disolvable stitches can't be used. Lol. I had stitches removed abt 7years ago after a csection, and yes it hurt. More of a sting. Im definitely not excited abt my 1 week post op appt wen i get them removed... good luck.

I got mine the same day. Mine is now in 3 days. Cant wait.
  7. Why do so many people have constipation after surgery? Is it only those people that wasnt on a clear liquid diet the week before? Should I do a bowel cleanse a couple days before surgery to prevent this from happening? Im on 1 week clear liquid diet (with protein drink made with almond milk or lactaid) and my surgery is 2/28.

Pre-Op diet is making me weak, suggestions please.

I use body fortress. Good stuff. Tastes better than a vanilla slim fast. I just bought another tub at walmart.

Pre-Op diet is making me weak, suggestions please.

Yesterday was my second day on my pre op clear liquid diet. All I wanted to do was stay in the bed. I live in the midwest and we go hit with a huge snow storm, so I couldnt go anywhere because my car was stuck. I took a nap hoping that would help, but when I woke up, I didnt want to get out the bed. I have a 5 and 7 year old, so they werent having that. Anyhow, I found that getting up and drinking some of my Protein Drink helped get a little energy. I mix mine with Almond milk or fat free milk, never water. Try making your protein drink with milk. Im lactose intolerant so I buy accordingly, and it allows me to get milk in without the reprocussions.

    Special K Protein Shakes

I enjoy Body Fortress Whey Isolate. Get it at walmart for $21.97 for a 3 lb tub, i think it is. Its really good, it tricks my brain into thinking I had dessert. I have only tried the vanilla but I think I will get chocolate next.

    Surgery date set

My surgery is the same day. Good luck!... Im not sure, but contact your doctor. At least if they say no, you have some time to get it down.
  14. Ive been trying to get myself together for my surgery on 2/28, buying broth and protein powder out of this world. I spent about a week doing all kinds of research on different vitamins and supplements, and which would be cost effecient. I finally talked to my NUT and asked her about a few name brands, she tells me as if I take Bariatric Fusion (sold in their office), I wont need to take additional vitamins and supplements. The multivitamin cost $24.99 for 120 chewable tabs. My confusion is, why arent more people using bariatric multivitamins for all the supplemental needs?

hard knot at sub-q injection site?

I was just using those as examples. Use whatever your doctor said you can take as a pain reliever.

hard knot at sub-q injection site?

Yes it will go away. Same thing happens when children get immunizations. Try using a warm cloth and massaging the area slowly and softly. Take what you normally take for pain (ibuprofen, tylenol) and it shouldnt give you much trouble. If the area because extremely painful, so bad you cant lift your arm, or gets bigger, consult your physician.

what is the best birth control method

Implanoni is what its called. I had irregular periods all my life, and I thought the implanon would cure that. Fooled me. I would have one for 5 days, then stop for 2, back on for 2 weeks, then stop for a day. But when I first got on it, I didnt have a period for 4 months straight. My sex life sucked for the 2 years I had it in. It was effective though. I dont know if that was because of the implanon or because I was only sexing for 7 days out of the month, on a good month.

    Protein servings- pre op

No. Read the nutritional facts on the back of your protein container. I use protein powder and 1 serving = 1 scoop of powder in 6-8oz of skim milk, almond milk, or water. I only have to do 3-4 servings a day.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

Am I missing something? Are you all being instructed to take clean your insides out before surgery? Did yall not have to do a liquid pre op diet? My doctor didnt say anything about having to take Milk of Magnesium or colon cleanse before my surgery next friday.
  23. We were able to sample in our pre op class, and they taste good to me. But ive noticed most ppl that dont like tums, dont like chewable multivitamins. I personally dont mind the taste.
