All of my December sleevers...
kitkat replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dee, Yup me too, I wanna give up when everyone is eating "good" stuff. Like today at lunch in a room full of twenty something skinny beautiful girls. Then I think, give up how, my stomach is gone! lol sometimes I take one bite too many and realize giving up is impossible. That was the whole reason I had surgery so I couldn't give up. We have to be patient. At some point we will win. I just keep yelling at myself (in my head) "DON'T LOSE FOCUS!" I hope it works. K -
I was in for two nights and went back to work a week after surgery. I have a desk job though. No energy and napped when I got home. No house work for a while I am just now back to normal energy and surgery was 12/18. Good Luck

like a blister? Does it have liquid under it or is your skin going to peel? All of mine peeled. All the skin around them did like it was a sunburn

Diet is to shrink you liver so you don't have to blend them. At least I didn't. I survived on yougurt, Jello, Protein shakes and Soup. I may never eat soup again. Good Luck!!

Stiches coming to the surface. My doc said trim them if you want but don't pull them. they will fall off. It was weird. you could always put a bandaide over them. Good luck.

I was in for two nights. No complications. I packed a change of clothes, pajamas but only used the pants and slippers. A toothbrush and paste and mouth wash. Phone charger for sure and a hair brush. Chapstick helped. I really needed warmer pajamas than then what I took they keep the hospital cold. They will bring extra blankets but when you walk you can't take it with you. Good luck! -

Guggles happen when I lay on my left side. I am just happy I can't hear it during the day! Sitting in meetings would be very interesting. -

Did anyone NOT lose weight after surgery?
kitkat replied to Sdonovan78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/18 and I have/had the same fear! But I finally realized that I can only eat 2oz at a time so there is no way I won't lose weight unless I find a food that is 1000 calories an oz. I was eating about 4,000 a day. I am using my fitness pal and I can get to about 750 a day sometimes. About 3 days a week I don't even get to 500 because I forget to eat or I get too busy to eat. I had to set an alarm to remind me to eat so that is helping. I am making good choices and focusing on Protein and liquid. I stalled for two weeks after surgery. What a struggle! I was so sad but it broke a few days ago and I am on my way. You will be too as soon as your body decides to. I was actually starting to think I made a mistake. I started to feel sorry for myself because I wasn't losing and I couldn't eat. Part of the overall probelm I guess. Of course I feel better now. I will be clear to do a full work out in a few weeks and that will make the weight loss faster and help with my mood and of course the shape of my body. It will happen just keep up with what you are doing and you can't lose! -

BROKEN STALL!!! I hope it keeps going. Down a total of 40 lbs! Sleeved on the 18th. Two week liquid pre op and two week stall post op. Highest Weight 257 Surgery 235 Today 217 -
Mine went away in a couple of weeks. Was uncomfortable at first but not after a few days.
-
Good For you!!! It has been the best thing ever. I am down 35 lbs including pre op diet and I feel great. Not much pain just some soreness but all manageable. Two nights in the hospital and then a week at home (xmas week) and then back to work. I was a littel tired at first but not too bad. liquid diet for two weeks then soft puree foods. Regular food added little by little now and not too many problems with tolerating them. Just have to remember to eat slowly. Getting enough liquid was hard at first but ok now. Gotta remember to sip sip sip. Getting deydrated would be not fun. Looking forward to new clothes! Good Luck!

Preparation before the big day
kitkat commented on Capricornrose's blog entry in Capricornrose's Blog
I had to give up diet coke and all the same stuff you did. I love bread and french fries etc. One strategy I am using is My Fitness Pal app. or website. It is free and you can log your food. It has a bar code scanner and it helps me to keep track of all my calories, fat, carbs, protein. Before my surgery I used it and it helped me lose 15lbs. I use it now to tack protein and carbs. It might help with making choices and tracking calories. The next thing I did was cut my portions by one third. Not half because it seemed to drastic at first. Once I got used to it then another third was not as hard. I also bought small plates and got rid of large plates. Now we all use the small plates. My son has also lost 22 lbs like this and he didn't even notice. (teenagers) Lastly I made an effort to try new foods. I went to the farmer's market, new places to eat, tried foods that I would never try before because I figured that once I had a very limited capacity I could eat more expensive food beacuse it would be so little a portion that the cost would be minimal. I found lots of new foods. Some are vegan and so good. I love meat but it is easier to eat light after surgery. One more is that I always carry my snacks or emergency food in my purse. I have some type of protein bar, cheese, yougut or before surgery small packs of almonds, granolla bars, or other walmart snacks that were 100 calories. This helped me stay away from drive through. I would pick one and try it for a while. Once it is part of your routine add another. Lucky you have time to make changes slowly. I took about a week on each step and it worked. I lost 20 lbs before surgery. I think that is why my recovery is going well. K -
Please help ! I need to her something good.

Pain meds made me really sick I had to stop taking them. It will get better. It took me about a week to get over the throbbing incisions. They are still a bit sore, five weeks out and I still have to be careful. Stick with Water and your diet and maybe try to skip the pain meds. -

Stalls stalls stalls! Almost two weeks now! I am now going to stay under 15 carbs and see if it helps! Wish me luck! -
If you are two weeks out you may still have hospital weight. I assume all your pudding and Jello is sugar free right? Your Protein shakes and are liquid so that kills two birds with one stone. One question - how long did it take you to get to the point that you knew you needed surgery? I ask because the question keeps things in perspective for me. It took me twenty years of being over weight to one degree or another and it is going to take some time to get the weight off. Two weeks is not long. Give it some time. I am four weeks out and had been stalled for over a week. This morning it broke. It was only a one pound drop but at least it broke. It motivated me to stay on the treadmill for an extra ten minutes. We are learning how to eat again, we are learning about head hunger and how much harder it is to fight than real hunger. I suggest you make sure you get in your protein and Water and be consistent. You won't be able to stop yourself from losing weight. We went from way too many calories a day to a very low number litterally overnight. There is no way we could not lose! It will come! Good Luck

Ok, might have to turn in my man card for asking this....

I understand completely! I am a woman but since I have just started my journey all I can contribute is that, because of the reasons you have stated I have never liked or wanted to date a skinny man. Thin and fit yes but not skinny. I felt like they would not be able to defend me or themself. Weird? Maybe but true.
