Another medication is given the boot!
Oliver's Mom posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Saw my PCP yesterday and she discontinued my last blood pressure medication AND told me to cut the only remaining medication (for cholesterol) in half. I'm having blood work done in 5 weeks and she feels confident that she'll be calling me to discontinue that medication too! I am so happy. I don't think my feet touched the floor n my way out of the office I was flying!! The weight loss is great but the improved (read that resolved) medical issues are even better. -

Is it ok to take Immodium?
Oliver's Mom replied to Brian Randolph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar situation about the same time, I HAD to go out to attend a wake and didn't want to be anxious or have to race to a bathroom so I did take an Immodium and it helped and I was fine after that. Good luck. -
7.5 months post-op and 83 lbs gone! (pic!)
Oliver's Mom replied to timetobefree's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look amazing! This is just the 'pep talk' I needed today. Thank you. The scale has not budged for a while now, and you can get discouraged. I am eating the right things and exercising so in my head I know it will continue to come off BUT discouragement breeds frustration breeds feeling bad......we all know how that can go. But your post has me re-committed to just keep doing what I'm doing. Again thank you. -
Honestly, who has had zero problems
Oliver's Mom replied to sparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On July 3rd I will be 7 months post-op. Not a single problem. I didn't even have any gas pains from the surgery. I followed the progression of diet set by my doctor & support team (RN, NUT, etc) I exercise and I love it!!! Who would have thought that?!?!?!? You get into the routine & practice of eating Protein, low carbs, drinking the Water, exercising, tracking and it becomes your new normal. Good luck, we are all here to encourage & support you thru this. I think like in anything else in life, people are more apt to comment on the negatives than the positives. Long ago I read that if a person has a bad experience they tell at least 10 people, but if they have a positive experience they might tell 1 or 2 people. This was from info I got at a conference I went to regarding medical practice management - but I think it's true of most things. -
Ohhhhhh, both of these sound delicious. I haven't had pizza in almost 2 years, because of a gluten sensitivity. I will def have to try both. I like veggie pizza, never been a meat on pizza girl. I'm adding the ingredients to my shopping list. Thanks guys.

I went to a wedding on Friday night (floral dress) and Father's day brunch on Sunday (polka dot dress). They are both size 12. Prior to the surgery I was in a size 22 dress. I hate to look in the mirror, but must admit looking at these pics makes me realize I HAVE lost weight. Black dress is pre-surgery and a size 22

I use it in making protein mini muffins and protein ice cream. I got the recipes from The World According to Eggface, there's lots of recipes there.

Worried about having my drain taken out
Oliver's Mom replied to wordygirl74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was nervous about having it removed......it didn't hurt at all. It does feel weird, like you have squiggly things in your belly but it only takes seconds to remove. I was THRILLED to have it out. Good luck -
Hahahaha!! Good one

Down 62 lbs......only 11 to go!! -
Hahahah, I was just telling my husband last night that I MUST have a breast lift/reduction because I can't stand that when I'm not wearing a bra, sometimes when I move there's a 'slapping' sound!!!! I'll make an appointment with a plastics doc soon, then I'll know how much to save in the next 6 or 7 months. Nice to know I'm not the only one - you made me feel normal with your posting! Thanks

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
Oliver's Mom replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm still waiting the 'go-ahead' to start running again from my sports medicine doc regarding my knees. I've been walking a LOT. While going to the last few classes of my C25K class - I was walking so fast that only one of the runners passed me. The others did the walk/run gradually all run sessions, but never went past me on the track. It was a 1/2 mile track. Although I felt badly that I couldn't run, I felt pretty good that I was able to walk at such a fast speed. I'm hoping that I get the OK soon - physical therapy continues and I feel so much stronger. It is motivating to read this thread - keeps me focused. -
Congrats!!! My trainer says that the plank (prone hold) is the very best exercise for your abs, and without putting your back at risk like crunches can! I look forward to the day I can hold for that long- I have a shoulder issue that I'm doing PT for right now and can only hold for 60-75 seconds. But 3 minutes is kick-ass!!

Bullies.. Even as an adult... Cant wait to redeem myself
Oliver's Mom replied to kailie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like the 2 bosses cultivated an atmosphere of bullying if the employees act that way too. Just seeing you will be 'revenge' enough - you won't need to say anything AND you'll feel like the winner if you don't get entangled with the low life individuals they appear to be. Hold you head high, strut your stuff and smile the biggest smile as you see the looks on their faces. -
Hahahah, I think we've all done that. Start off slow so you don't discourage yourself, build up your time and the amount of exercising you do. :-)

Am I setting a bad example?
Oliver's Mom replied to Goddardgo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my opinion, but I think you ARE setting a great example for your children. You will be eating differently and cooking differently for your family, you will be exercising, drinking Water - all of these things are good examples for your children. They are seeing you address a situation with your weight, your health and gaining control. I don't know who this person is in your life, but you don't owe an explanation to anyone (IMHO) you're an adult, I would guess that you made this decision with great thought. Be proud girl, you doing something good for yourself. -
I've brought little 'roll-ups' - I cut a lf cheese stick into 4 pieces and roll a thin slice of turkey around each one, I've also brought a Mini Baby Bel (low fat) and a bag of Fruit crisps - which are freeze dried fruit, it comes in Fuji apple, Asian pear or strawberry & banana - 35 - 45 calories. Nothing added , it's just fruit. I've also brought baby carrots and celery sticks. I do eat popcorn at home (it's Skinny Pop Popcorn) low in fat & sodium, on occasion. I haven't brought that to the movies, the 4 cups wouldn't fit in my pocketbook.
