    Newly sleeved 2.28.13

Glad you are feeling so well, right on about the family & faith! I really started to fell like I could move well without sore/stiff feeling after about 4-5 days. Keep sipping water and protein, keep moving. I did laps around my LR/DR/Kitchen every hour!! Slow and steady, by the end of a week you will be fine!
  2. Honestly I don't see what is wrong with wanting pizza or Chinese food. I still do! Does it mean I will ever sit down and eat 4 slices of pizza again? No. will I stuff myself with fried rice and sweet n sour chicken drowned in sauce? No. Will I eat homemade pizza in 3-4 oz servings, yes indeed!! Will I eat Chinese veggies or beef or chicken with broccoli, yes! I did not have the surgery to stop living, I had it to enjoy the living I do!!

    Regrets

So if you do not want a response, why are you taking the time to post? I think it's a good move on your part to continue to work with doctors, honestly I don't see how you can do all you do, and not lose weight with the surgery, there must be something medically wrong with you, and I wish you good luck and speedy answers.

    Day 4 post op

Hang in....it gets better. I had surgery 2/6 and the first 4-5 days are the worst, keep moving as much as possible. The greatest priority is do whatever you can to get the liquids in so you do not become dehydrated. I found it easier to drink flavored water and warm drinks rather than cold. Good luck!
  6. Well, since you asked....this is a life transforming surgery that will require lifestyle changes and adjustments all around...to your physical eating habits, as well as your emotional eating habits...I came through the surgery very well, going back to work after 2 weeks feeling great. I hope you have the same success with the surgery when you have it...in my opinion, I would wait until you can really focus all your energy on taking care of yourself and getting your mind as well as your body ready for the journey ahead. A new job, travels, as "good" as they are, are still stressful. Good luck on your journey whatever you decide!
  7. What you shuld be scared about is ending up back in teh hospital dehydrated. PLEASE find a way to increase your fluids to at LEAST 40 oz a day. Popsicles, jello, herbal tea, MIO and water, Crystal light in water, gatorade, broth,....always have something with you and continuosly sip it....your body cannot heal effectively if it is starved for hydration....

    3 days out

Please call your surgeon. It will put your mind to rest on the "normal" question. I do not believe it is normal...even with teh post op gas you should be able to swallow water.

post op 4 weeks /new pain

Do you still have a gallbladder? If so it could be that- gallbladder pain is awful. Good move to call the doc...good luck!
  10. I am not sure what answers you are looking for, I don't see any questions. I would suggest a support group at a local bariatric center, or therapy. Good luck.
  11. When I woke up in the recovery room, I had some pain, they gave me a shot and I was fine. I had no nausea because i asked the anasthesiologist before surgery to please give me something before i woke up to prevent post-op nausea- she put a patch behind my ear - I HAD NO NAUSEA at all. I was up and walking the night of surgery, went home the next day. I had some diarrhea i from the leak test contrast, but that was it. Low energy for about 4-5 days, itchy incision site, no big deal. Everyone responds differently to pain, surgery, and life changes....do you!!

    premier shakes.

I have only had teh chocolate- but I really like it with a couple of ice cubes, and some 1% milk in a shaker bottle. Its just a little too thick straight up! Try watering it down, to me it tastes like YooHoo that way!

    Dr. Abkins

I don't know about Abkin- but I can tell you I fully recommend the drs at NJ Bariatric Center in Springfield- Goyal and Forrester did my surgery - I had NO problems post op-no naudsea, limited incision pain- their office staff is wonderful too- check out the website
  14. Stay calm, and try to remember this...liquid in, liquid out. Sorry to be so graphic but at one week post op on liquids, its my new reality:) temporary I hope!! As for the nausea, are you on pepcid? Hope you feel better soon, if you don't plaese call your doc so they can re-assure you:)
  15. Maybe look at the amount of carbs you are eating at dinner that could cause cravings within hours and try straight protein for dinner and see if it makes a difference. If you really need a snack how about a cup of tea or sugar free ice pop? the website www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com has some great snack/sweet recipes for us. Good luck, best to change this now and keep losing than run off track and totally derail...

    Berries? Yes or no?

My Nutritionist told me no berries for 3 months because of the seeds and sugar.
  19. I found a bag of chewables that are like caramels at Costco. They are really yummy, almost a treat!!

    Need some support and reassurance!

I think the idea of sending them more info- as in our BMI/weight for a couple of years before WW is a good idea- I also wonder if it would help to send a narrative about your struggle and re-gain...check with your insurance person at the dr office on what helps push things through- good luck, try not to get discouraged...things tend to happen precisely when they are meant to....

    February 6th Sleevers!

I am Feb 6th also. Started low cal pre-op diet last Wed...ready to get it over with.

    February Sleevers

I am having surgery February 6th, have been on the 2 week pre-op diet since Wed, and lost 3 lbs! It is not too bad, 1000 cal, low carb...I am looking forward to getting to the other side of the surgery as well.

    Pain :-o

Call your doctor ASAP, sounds like what I had with gallbladder problems.
  24. I am a teacher currently working in our district central office- and I am taking two weeks for recovery- its hard to know how any one person will respond to surgery. Some are back to work in a week it seems, and others had a month...you know you best. But depending on when your spring break is.....you could wait till summer then not worry and be really on track and healed for the start of the school year, or you can do the week or two then get back to a routine quickly....I know more options is not much help:) Personally, I think if I were still in a classroom at my age (53) I would wait till summer just because of the demands of the classroom and being on my feet all day.
