Calcium HELP- almost choked on it
Stef replied to Misty_eyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bariatric Advantage has chewable calcium citrate in raspberry, caramel, chocolate and lemon and they're sugar-free to boot. -
Same here. A month out and still no real hunger. It feels strange to have to "force" yourself to eat when you're not really hungry.

Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story
Stef replied to jasminem89's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started just about where you were and less than a month after my sleevification I've broken into the 300's already. I think that's pretty awesome -
Anyone use a Bariatric diners card?
Stef replied to Brookstein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 3 week post-surgery follow-up we were given the ok to progress to soft foods and they gave us cards that said the following: "The individual bearing this card has had special surgery for the reduction of the size of their stomach. Please allow the bearer to order a small portion at a reduced price or order from the child's menu. Thank you for your consideration." -
And like most of those "cup o' whatever" soups, a ton of potassium. Skip it for something healthier.

How many times is too many to call your insurance?
Stef replied to Emilee68's topic in Insurance & Financing
Chill. You're not the only person either office is dealing with and calling multiple times a day is not going to make them want to help you any faster than they already are. -

How do you deal with the cravings?
Stef replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had any cravings yet or really any hunger even. It's kind of wierd. -
Who says you can't use outside tickers?

Best stuff ever. I should have had this hanging from my IV stand during recovery:

Sleeved and can't stop vomiting
Stef replied to Chubarella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know how normal it is. I didn't have any nausea or vomiting after surgery. If you're vomiting every couple of hours, you should be calling them ASAP. -
I couldn't tolerate any of the whey based protien powders but my nutritionist told me about Premier Protein shakes and I lived on those. The chocolate tastes just like chocolate milk. You can get them at Costco/Sams Club/WalMart.

Nothing happens to them. The staples stay there forever.

Sleeve done on 1/29 walking in public a good idea?
Stef replied to Stroza's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With her being a nurse, I hope you got your flu shot this year. If so, get out and walk. You'll reduce the chance of thrombosis, get that CO2 working out of your system and just feel better overall. -
How long til I actually start losing weight?
Stef replied to kimmy42083's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I was told half a dozen times before I left the hospital to not weigh myself the first week. With the IV and the swelling it's going to take a few days for your body to get back to "normal" so there's no point getting down over your weight increase during that time. After a week or so you should be good to go and on the "losing" team. -
Both are pretty common. My surgeon doesn't use drains unless he's performing the RNY and many docs do the leak test while you're still on the table and forego the standing contrast test. Double win for us

I've been stapled, sutured and glued at different points of my life and they all feel about the same. Besides, you have sutures under your glue anyway

She said she was seeing the doc on the 6th. -
Good for you! I'm starting back at the gym this weekend too and I'm looking forward to getting some of my cardio back.

January Sleevers thread - how is everyone doing?
Stef replied to canuckpaisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Finally got the ok to go back to the gym (no heavy lifting yet) and move on to soft foods today. I had a scrambled egg and a little applesauce. It was wonderful! Went down with no difficulty and didn't feel any tightness or nausea. -

That wasn't rude. Bless your heart. -

Slow down there chicken Little, the sky isn't falling just yet. No one really knows what happened here yet and it's WAY too soon to start blacklisting surgeons before the whole story is brought to light. The OP didn't have her surgery in TJ so this tale of woe shouldn't cause you any additional surgeon angst. -
When I had my endoscopy I was told I had a hiatal hernia, but once they cut me open they said there wasn't one so I got lucky.

One more day before the super exclusive Class of January 2013 closes it's books forever. Good luck to whoever is having surgery tomorrow!

You give them far too much credit.
