Any okay tasting protein shakes?
Stef replied to Determined_Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The only ones I can stomach (no pun intended) are the Premier Protein chocolate shakes. I recommend them so much I should get a kickback from that company. Determined_Me: They have 1 gram per 11oz serving. -

January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?
Stef replied to pottergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My goals are 90 grams of protein, 80 ounces of water and 1100 calories a day. Going to the gym five days a week also helps. -

Who is scheduled for Jan 8th? I'm getting nervous
Stef replied to 2013isit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a piece of bread dunked in stew and it was ok, but I took really small bites. Haven't had salad yet. -
Take dime sized bites and chew the daylights out of each bite. It takes some serious conscious effort to override a lifetime of eating habits.

When Did You Begin Taking Vitamins Post-Op?
Stef replied to Khloé's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started on Bariatric Advantage chewable vitamins the day I got home from the hospital. Is having your abdomen cut open in multiple places desirable? A lot of what we have to go through pre and post op isn't desirable, but they're things we have to suck up and deal with. Having to add vitamin crystals to your protein drinks for a few days will be the least of your worries, so I wouldn't waste time obsessing over it. It'll be over and done with before you know it and then you can complain about how bad the chewables taste -
Anyone have to do a 4 week pre-opt diet?
Stef replied to KatieOkieDokie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 3 week low-carb diet (less than 20 grams/day) and lost 17 pounds. -
Where did you have you surgeries?
Stef replied to searching's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine with Dr. McMahon at Swedish in Seattle. I couldn't be happier with the experience and the outcome so far. -
What's the sodium per serving on those? I love jerky but the sodium in them is a killer so I save it for a rare treat. Lots of great ideas in this thread, thanks everyone!

Carbs before, Protein after is the general rule. Carbs trigger an increase in insulin production which allows glucose to get into your cells for energy. they also replenish glycogen stores for muscle energy while you're working out. Protein helps repair cells and create new ones after the workout is done.

When the boobie fairy made her rounds she skipped my house so I've never had much in that department and they're certainly not looking better as I lose weight. There will definitely be some surgical intervention in that area once I'm in goal weight territory.

Pain above my left shoulder? Day 7
Stef replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get up and get moving and eventually it'll work its way out. Not much else you can do for it unfortunately -
I told my boss, but only because we're friends. It isn't anyone else's business.

My only regret is the classic one; I regret not doing it sooner.

Pain above my left shoulder? Day 7
Stef replied to newme31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It has nothing to do with the anesthesia. It's from the CO2 they use to inflate the surgical field. Some CO2 gets trapped and left behind after surgery and it irritates the phrenic nerve which starts in the neck and ends in the diaphragm.
