Hey everyone. I'm scheduled for surgery 2/27. Super excited/ happy/ nervous. Anyone else on 2/27 or from PA/NJ? Also wondering what happens if I were to get sick before surgery? I am practically putting myself in a bubble because I don't want to get delayed.
  2. Hi! I Was sleeved just under 5 months ago. Weight loss has been great. Down 67 pounds. I am exercising daily and working with personal trainer once a week. I am having pain inside near my largest incision (right side) I've been to see my surgeon twice now with this pain and he doesn't feel an hernia. I am now being sent for ct scan. The pain happens after I eat and sleeve is full and while stretching or standing from sitting. Has anyone experienced this? I'm worried that its something bad but the pain is not intolerable. Help!

  7. Great thread!! I'm 11 weeks out. 2/27/13 surgery date. Start weight 303. Day of surgery 288. Current weight 252. Down 51 total and 36 since surgery. About 3 weeks total. And 2 week long stalls through so far. Better than I could ever do on my own. I'm thrilled!! I work out for 40-45 minutes a day about 5-6 times a week. Mostly walking and beginning to jog. I'm eating about 800-1000 calories a day. I'm taking 2 chewy vits, 1200 mg Calcium, b12, frolic acid, Biotin and 2 Pepcid.

Dr Marymore Barix of Langhorne PA

I met dr medvetz about two years ago while she was at the barix clinic but then she left and I found dr Edwards at st Mary's and loved him but dr medvetz would have been my second choice.

Dr Marymore Barix of Langhorne PA

Hi all. I had surgery in 2/27 and live in Newtown. I met with dr marymor and liked him ok but then had an appointment with dr Eric Edwards at st Mary's. he was amazing!!! I would highly encourage you to at least meet with him. I work for the state of nj and also have bcbs of nj and the covered everything. After surgery, I received my explanation of benefits and surgery costed -- ready for this--- 57,000 dollars and I paid ---$15. Sooo thankful for insurance but would have paid out if pocket as this surgery has saved my life.

    Liquid vs protein

I was told that when I drink my protein shakes, cream of soups a d puddings (full liquid phase) then those ounces also count as 64 of protein AND liquid. Does that sound right? I feel like I am never actually drinking water.

    Driving

So I was wondering. I was sleeved on 2/27 and am doing great. How long did everyone have to wait to drive. I had my first follow up today and staples were removed but I forgot to ask. Been off pain meds for 2 full days now.

How is everyone doing so far? Everyday gets better for me and so happy with my decision. I doubted myself the first two days but I have been up and moving and things are no issue so far. Hoping this continues. Ony complaint, 5 days out and lost only two pounds.... I know it's the uv and fluids and such but I literally am on clear liquid diet for a week and thought I would see some more results.

That is awesome. I am right in newtown. Where are you having surgery and with what doc? I had dr Edwards at st Mary's and have been beyond pleased with him and his service. The staff at the Hospital was soooo accommodating. I was just sleeved on 2/27

Stay away from the grocery store!

I am three days out and needed to get out if the house today and also needed to walk. I was totally fine. In fact, I walked down every aisle to get some walking time in. Lol.

    Finally sleeved!

Sleeved on 2/27. Should be released from hospital today. I'm up moving around and my only complaint is again the gas. Still taking several walks a day seems to keep the gas moving. My question is they take the staples from incision out in a week. How do they do that? Is it awfully painful?
  19. Check with your dr. They should have given instructions on when to eat what and when to start vitamins again. I know with me, I have to have clear liquids for the first full week

    Being Sleeved tomorrow and scared!

Totally agree with this post. I am schedule for 2/27. I have been doing preop diet for 12 days now And had no cheats. I am so excited about surgery and a new outlook in food but yesterday was hard thinking that I won't be able to pig out again even just on a while hoagie. But that is the same exact reason I am doing this. Because me and food, we need a break up. The changes and positive things with this outweigh the fact that I can't stuff my face anymore. Good luck to everyone the next few days. We will check on the other side.

    Why protein shakes before?

You have fat around your liver and it help to lower that. Those few pounds lost before surgery also makes it easier for your doctor to move around and keep you safe. Not a medical reason but it help prepare you for your diet after surgery

    Tmi. Runny during preop?

So Im Finishing day 4 of preop. 80 gms of Protein shakes, veggies and sugar free liquids and Jello. Since day 2 I have had runny(very runny) stools. It did not concern me at first but now I'm starting to get worried. Is this normal? Sorry to be gross and graphic.
