Whether you serve this as a wrap, on whole-grain toast or in a lettuce cup, you will love this egg salad that uses half the yolks and lots of healthy fats from the avocado. Avocado Egg Salad Skinnytaste.com Servings: 6 • Size: 1/2 cup • Old Points: 3 pt • Points+: 4 pt (w/ light Flatout 7 pts) Calories: 154.7 • Fat: 11.7 g • Protein: 9.3 g • Carb: 4.6 g • Fiber: 3 g • Sugar: 0.5 g Sodium: 132 mg (without salt) Ingredients: 4 large hard-boiled eggs, chopped 4 hard boiled egg whites, chopped (discard the rest) 1 medium hass avocado, cut into 1/2-inch pieces 1 tbsp light mayonnaise 1 tbsp fat free plain yogurt 1/2 tablespoon finely chopped chives 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar 1/2 tsp Kosher salt pinch freshly ground pepper Directions: Combine the egg yolks with the avocado, light mayo, yogurt, chives, vinegar, salt and pepper. Mash with a fork. Combine with egg whites and adjust salt as needed. I haven't made this yet but would just use the yogurt and omit the mayo all together. I not big on mayo. I'd also use fresh spinach in the wrap.

I think you have gotten great ideas. I love to cook and have many gadgets. During the preop diet I bought an immersion blender. I got tired of washing my very old blender so much. It was the best thing during the liquid, soft food days. And I recently bought ramikens. They're perfect size for so many recipes. The muffin tins work, but they are not as easy to clean and in my situation I wouldn't need to cook a dozen. Good luck

My go to food was pasta and bread. They are just way to filling. The ingredients sounded like they weren't as dense. I get the flavorless part, did you not like them because the filled up the sleeve? I was just curios if the were sleeve friendly.

I loved a diet coke. A few years ago I gave up caffeine and didn't miss it at all. I started drinking them again in the last year. One i chose this surgery I just stopped. I don't miss it. I did go through a chick fila diet lemonade kick for awhile before my preop diet. I can't drink it now. Too much Splenda. I drink Water for the most part. You can do it and I bet you won't miss it either!

What i won't miss about been over weight.
pen replied to gelen's_change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pretty much what all has been said. Most important reached goal, is no more plus sizes. I officially can wear xl and regular 18 not 18w. And they are already getting loose! Not feeling so uncomfortable. My fat hurts. I'm loving not being in that kind of discomfort. I still have a long way to go but ever little bit gone feels great! Horrible self doubt. I still have issues but as the weight comes off I don't feel as much disappointment in my self. Confidence feels great! -
I love quiche but made them without a crust. Very good. I also used cottage cheese instead of cream or milk and just added a little Parmesan so not to have too much cheese

How do you deal with the cravings?
pen replied to roiansmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My cravings were for starch when I get stressed. I still get them but it try to do something else or have a piece of cheese. I did get the worst craving for chocolate the other day, started today, and I had a piece of dark chocolate. Not a bag, not 2 bags but part of one piece. I felt good about it. Not because I caved but because I was satisfied with the taste. I came into this not to deprive myself but certainly not to allow myself overindulge. It's just not worth it. Good luck. Those cravings will subside in time. And you'll get better at redirecting yourself. -
I love to cook and substitute Greek yogurt for many things. Sour cream the first. If you have a baked potato cottage cheese is good with it. I made Soups. Sweet potato, butternut squash, tilapia is good. I baked it with a lemon slice,s&p, paprika in tin foil or parchment paper. It stays moist this way making it easy to eat. Garlic mashed cauliflower is a great substitute for mashed potatoes. Pinterest has great ideas. I found a simple recipe for Parmesan crusted salmon. It called for mayo. I used Greek yogurt and cayenne pepper and baked them. Here's the recipe: http://shecookshecleans.net/2012/05/19/oven-roasted-salmon-with-parmesan-mayo-crust/ I tried this with chicken breast and it got too hard. I know I overlooked it but I won't try it again. I made spinach quiche with out crust in muffin tins. Real yummy and easy. I used cottage cheese instead of milk or cream and yogurt would work too. I hope these were of some help =)

Thank you for your support. I have learned so much from reading everyone's experiences so I thought I may have some feedback for those not this far. I usually don't do this but while I was out of town, I only lost one pound. My new smaller jeans have begun to get loose already so I weight again today. 2 more gone. So 50 at my worst. Hard to say, 100 to go but better than 150. Good luck to y'all on your journey!

I had my 3 month check today. Despite having Vitamin issues, my Protein and Iron were spot on. My Vitamin D and B-12 were a tinge low. I am so happy. If I can get passed the mental thing and take the Vitamins I'm in good shape. I've lost 48# since I started and 36 since the day of surgery. I have found I can eat everything. Dense foods don't sit well, like Protein Bars, dry meats, nuts on an empty stomach and my old favorite comfort foods like bread, Pasta, etc. I can eat just a bite or two and I'm done with them or I get that awful too full feeling. I can eat an apple and salad with no problem. I love the crunch. It's also so much easier to drink Water. I still drink at least one Protein Drink a day. I'm loving this sleeve! I was tested last week as I visited my family in my hometown. It was both of my folks birthdays so there were sweets and those foods that I only eat when I go there which is once a year or so. I did indulge but in moderation. I'm proud of myself that I could eat just a taste or a bite and yes I may have wanted more but knew better. After I let it rest, I was fine. So if any new sleevers are reading this it does get better. I must add I didn't have co morbidities but was my blood work before surgery was borderline bad. I had some pain and discomfort in the hospital right after surgery, but I could walk laps around the hospital at normal speed and had no problem with pain once home or with the Protein drinks the first week. Then they made me sick, the smell, the taste, even water got hard to get down. I still cringe at the thought of the Protein powder before surgery I liked and at week two it made me sick. I ended up with unjury unflavored with crystal light raspberry lemonade. I don't like crystal light but it worked. Grapefruit juice by simply brand and fresh squeezed work better. This was my favorite blend. I did put it in a fresh veggie juice but the powder was too clumpy. Maybe I should have blended it. Anyhow, the road gets easier each day I still have times where I eat too fast or take a bite too big or that bite you know as you swallow it was better left on the plate, but not as much. When eating around other people, I live alone, I sometimes catch myself eating as fast as them, immediately stop and rest then I watch them and get grossed out on how much food they put in one bite. I scarfed my food too before surgery and never realized how awful it looks till now. This is such a wonderful learning process about myself, besides learning how to use the sleeve and more about my denial of what eating meant to me. I have realized that I was really eating for no reason in the past 11 years that got out of hand and uncontrollable because of major stressors. I am not the girl who was fat all my life, just the past 10 years really. I never drank regular sodas, much processed foods, just too much of empty foods when i was stressed. I'm 52, my forties were not very good. Too many life changing things I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm feeling very healthy mind, body and soul. Still may start to go for food when stressed or anxious but catch myself, I know why, and try to do something else. It works and I hope it continues. Okay. I really didn't mean to write this much, but felt it may help those not out this far. I'm not the perfect follow by the rules kind of person and my weight loss maybe slower than some which I hope in the long run is easier on my body. The best part is its faster than when I was dieting only to deny it since it was healthy food. Gained it back plus 20 this last time and was mortified when I weighed the 290 at the first dr visit. Oh one last thing because I don't think I understood what meds or NSAIDs were allowed. I thought it was forever from info I read. My doctor gave me the go ahead for any meds. Which is great as I have to have arthroscopic shoulder surgery next week. And am allowed the pain pills. I hope this helps someone I'm sorry I got so winded but I felt that it could help someone. Thanks for reading. pen Sent from my iPad using VST

Excited! Want medical bracelet now!
pen replied to ISleevedIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a tube that they put through your nose into your stomach if need to suction out the contents of your stomach. It i essential that bypass patient do not have this as it can puncture their pouch. From what I understand it is not a problem with the sleeve because even thought he sleeve is smaller than a regular stomach it's route it the same. I think I got this right. -
Should it be this easy? 3 days out, no problems with drinking at all.
pen replied to HikeEveryMountain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did pretty good the first week. Then I began having issues with both the Protein and Water. I couldn't handle the taste or smell of the protein I had and water gave me gas. It took a while before I got it together but I was impressed with myself until the day I gagged on the protein. Good luck and congrats. I hope it continues to go smooth for you. -
Excited! Want medical bracelet now!
pen replied to ISleevedIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I read about getting one of these but my doc told me yesterday it wasn't necessary. He also said I could have NSAIDs. I'm just 3 months out. I guess I am even more confused with conflicting info. Anyone else hear that a medical card or bracelet was unnecessary? -
Today i found out that i streched my pouch
pen replied to LadiWobs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After reading a bunch of insignificant banter, I don't understand why so outrageous comments. The OP definitely has something wrong going on. She came here to share here story in hopes of support maybe a similar story to hers. I had to read a bunch of pages to see if she had found out anything from the second opinion. I'd be upset if I were her. She is seeking out professional help. I would hate for this thread to be closed as I feel for her and want to know the outcome. One thing I have learned through my journey is not all doctors plans and procedures are equal. I believe I had at least 10 ounces of liquid on my tray the morning after my leak test. Was dying of thirst and was not allowed anything by mouth until that test was done the day after. My tray had a double popsicle, water, tea, jello and broth. It may have been a cup of each. I had the broth, all of it and the popsicle and as much water as I could handle. No protein at all. I don't think chicken bullion is really substantial protein. I was told to get in my fluids and as much protein those first two weeks but not to fret over it. One only can do the best they can. I was told to really get the protein in after those 2 weeks. Seems like the OP was following her plan, but could obviously get in much more than the typical post op sleeve patient. I don't think seeking out here for some constructive support is wrong. She's scared and frustrated. I wish her all the best and a good answer to her problem. Yes, it is hard to comprehend her situation, but strange things happen in surgery. Rare, yet there's always an odd story out there. I do hope she posts an update! -
WHAT TO TAKE FOR THE FLU
pen replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure if this helps but the last time I had the flu was awhile ago. I took "Theraflu" it comes in a flavor and you add it to hot Water. It taste good and soothes. I thing it has Tylenol in it. Also Emergen-C packet have Vitamin c and a bunch of other good stuff in it. I swear by it. You can take 6 a day. I'd get antibiotics if its in your chest. I agree it's too late for tamiflu. I hope you feel better soon. Edit for hitting send too soon -
I think you should go. You can put Protein powder in a Water bottle and even add the water to it for the ride. I think it will dissolve fine. Tea bags or crystal light can be added at the brewery. Beer was my choice of alcohol and at 3 months out I still don't think I would enjoy one. I may try a sip once I get the guts for carbonation. Maybe there will be a soup you can have or a mashed potato so you don't feel totally left out. Good luck and enjoy! It sounds like a fun outing! Sent from my iPad using VST

How long will it take to feel better?
pen replied to MrsGina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can remember not sleeping well for a few weeks after surgery, was very tired took a nap or two. I made homage Soups because I couldn't handle the Protein Drinks. I did find moist fish was ok, eggs were not and sugar free popsicles were my best friend It got a little easier each day. Part of my sleep issues and fatigue were from my thyroid being off. I had to double my dosage and feel better a month after it was increased. Best luck on your journey! Sent from my iPad using VST -
All of my December sleevers...
pen replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh all of you are doing remarkable! Congrats and keep it up. Just remember not to go on the scale more than once a week and the stalls are so your body can catch up. I notice inches going away during the stalls. Kind of reminds me of my kids gaining weight before they grew an inch or two when they were young. It's just how our amazing bodies work. after surgery how awful it looks when others take big bites? I am 11 weeks out and I am really getting used to my small amounts on my plate, and small bites. I am really becoming repulsed by how much food others put in their mouths. I was the "eat a meal in 3 bites" and finished in3 minutes person, why is this wiggling me out? Anyone else notice this? Craving fruits and veggies... Juicing anyone?
pen replied to skinnygirlscomingout's topic in Food and Nutrition
I really didn't use much fruit in my juices when I got into it because of the high sugar content. When using the veggie mix I loved before sleeve it didn't taste so good but my body thrived on them. My NUT pretty much told me that my juice concoction was mostly Water and not to worry about the calories. Fruit wouldn't allow for that. I did try a juice without the beets and it wasn't too bad. Needs some adjusting before I add the Protein powder. I will say that I miss veggies tremendously. I crave the crunch of a carrot or celery for some odd reason. In due time =). Once I figure out a good veggie juice I'll post the recipe. Sent from my iPad using VST
