    Any january surgery out there

To those of you already on a pre-op diet, how are you dealing with it? I miss food but am so busy trying to drink 3-5 shakes per day and 96 ounces of water. Would appreciate any suggestions on how you're dealing with it. Thank you.

Anyone else set for surgery on January 17th?!

I'm on the 17th too! Started preop diet and it's a struggle. Trying to stay positive.

    Any january surgery out there

I start my pre-op two week liquid diet tomorrow and I'm so excited and nervous! Packing a variety of powders that I like since i will be traveling through the 6th. Click protein coffee, Nectar Strawberry Mousse, Unjury chicken broth, Jay Robb tropical dreamsicle, and I add Benefiber to them so I will feel fuller longer. Once I return home, I can fix up other flavors such as vanilla with Torani sugar free syrups. I'm picky and need lots of variety.

    Any january surgery out there

January 17th revision from band to sleeve! Excited and scared. Have to travel to be in a wedding on January 5th so I'm nervous about the liquid diet at that time. But no one said it would be easy. Congrats to everyone!

    Band To Vs In Mexico..canadian

I'm having it done all in one procedure on January 17th. My surgeon prefers doing it as two separate surgeries but insurance won't cover it.

What kind of advice do you wish you had in the beginning?

I found that the Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book was a great source of info for the whole process. It even has a list of questions to ask your surgeon.

Three Months Out & Now the Real Work is Beginning

One thing I've learned that is helpful to remember is that exercising 10 minutes at a time 3 times a day counts as getting 30 minutes a day. Sometimes the thought of doing one big chunk of exercise a day is overwhelming or just not possible. I've also found that the Fitbit is a wonderful way to get motivated to get moving. I wish everyone the best on their journey. I'm revising from band to sleeve on January 17th and can't wait!

Eroded band to sleeve - I won my appeal!

Congrats on your win! My insurance initially denied the revision but we submitted it again after waiting a year and they approved it! I'm so excited! I wish you the best on this new journey.

6 weeks out - an update on my revision

Thank you for sharing your experience. I don't know what to expect. I am sorry that you feel hunger. I've had the band for 4 years and I haven't had any issues with slippage or dilation, it just hasn't worked. I lost 40 and then gained it back and I've been fighting it. I just want this band out!

First Step: Get this band out!

Thank you for sharing that. I'm nervous because I know this will be a shock to my system and will change my life. I've been in counseling and I also see a dietician to help prepare me for this. I have to do it though. I want to live a long, healthy life. Thank you again.

First Step: Get this band out!

Jhumphries, what made it more emotional? The more extensive surgery? I'm just so curious to see how different this experience will be from the band. I'm so excited but I know the first part is going to be a challenge.

First Step: Get this band out!

I understand where you are coming from. I've had the band since 2009 and it's been nothing but problems. It's a long saga but over a year ago I decided to pursue revision surgery. I went to a new surgeon and was shocked to learn that my band was only half full. My previous surgeon told me I had it filled to its maximum and that I had failed it. My new surgeon said I needed to try to work with it for a while and he filled it bit by bit. When we first submitted paperwork for revision surgery, the insurance denied it. But now a year later, we submitted the request again and I got a response within 24 hours!!! I have waited so long for that call. I just did all of my pre-op tests and it looks like I'm going to schedule surgery in January. Don't give up hope.

    Portion control tools

I am curious to know what if any tools you used to help you with portion control. I see there are several products on the market. I'm very visual and need to see what my portions should be. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have for me. Thank you.

    Advice needed!

Definitely tell him do more research. I had the band put in in April 2009 and had limited success and now live with lots of complications. I have terrible acid reflux and throw up regularly even when I eat slow and chew it to bits. I wanted band for same reason but I sure wish I'd done more research. Yes, the sleeve is irreversible but it is worth it. We are all at this stage because we are very overweight and will live shorter lives if we don't make major changes. I've heard that surgeons have cut back significantly on using the band. He can look at Lap Band Talk and read about their complications and that is very informative. I just got approved for the sleeve and I'm so excited!

    Best Tasting Protein Powders

I have spent a fortune looking for powders that I like. My favorite is Jay Robb tropical dreamsicle. Bariatric advantage has several good flavors as well. I like to have Jay Robb vanilla with Torani sugar free syrups like black cherry. If you like coffee, Click has an excellent vanilla latte. I order everything from Amazon.

    Travel soon after surgery

I'm new to this forum. I have had a band since 2009 and just got approved for revision to sleeve. My surgeon can schedule it as soon as December 22nd but I am traveling 12 days later to be a bridesmaid in a wedding. In your opinion, will that be too soon for travel? I've waited so long for this and now I'm so disappointed to have to postpone it. Thank you in advance for your input.
