    Balancing Diet and Exercise

    I have been struggling too- for three weeks no loss-I realized I was not taking in enough calories-my dr recommends 800 calories plus what you consume in protein shakes so total should be around 1100-1250 or so. I have been consuming around 1100 calories for the last week and have dropped three pounds plus I upped my exercise to 5 times a week-60 min sessions-sometimes a change in the routine is what is needed.

    Coffee drinkers?

    I drink coffee everyday- I think the point is to limit the use of caffeine-however, I do not think 1 or 2 cups a day is going to make much of difference

    Restricted or not restricted ?

    no, not necessarily-getting stuck is usually due to taking too big of bites and not chewing-restriction is different for everyone-for me it is eating a very small meal, usually 1/2 c to 1 c of food max- I usually can only eat a few bites of meat before I get the feeling of "if I eat one more bite, it might not stay down" so I usually cater my diet towards knowing how much I can handle-restriction should control your hunger-if you are hungry then you do not have restriction. You should be satisified for at least 4 hours after eating.. at least that is the goal.

    Anyone Banded 9/5/07 ?

    Mia- I am hating the exercise right now too- I would like to say I have been going 3 days a week consistently but unfortunately it has been sporadic.But I have made a goal to exercise no less than 5 days a week now as I am trying to get 50 more lbs off by august- usually my food goes like this: morning-coffee breakfast-salad or Soup or couple pieces of cheese lunch-meat and veggie or soup and crackers afternoon-granola bar dinner-normal dinner with family depending on what it is- i cannot eat a lot of meat so I modify. snack-sf pudding or piece of cheese I know I can do better on my diet- I tend to eat a lot of cheese which is pretty high in cals-I also need to do more Protein drinks-my dr says we should still be doing 2 a day. It is a work in progress- I just bought a journal and am going to start writing everything down again. Controlling what you eat is the first step-but exercising is important-any exercise at all.just find something you can tolerate and build on it.

    Lots to lose

    Thank sue-I just have to keep going-I will let you know how the zumba goes-I think I will try it next week. I think working out has to be the main component right now-obviously the food is kept pretty much under control so that is what I will focus on-also-congrats on your weight loss as well-amazing job! over 100 lbs in less than a year-you should be very proud of yourself!
  15. well, on my second fill which was at 6 cc I felt restriction for a couple of weeks then it went away- after my third which was over a month ago, I still am very resrticted- from what I have heard most people with the 10cc band feel restriction between 6-8cc. right now I have a hard time eating at times-but I have not thrown up or pb or anything-just have to eat real slow-can't eat very much meat. eat a lot of soup, salad, and soft foods.

    Lots to lose

    How is everyone doing-I have increased my cardio from barely 3 times a week to 5 times a week and I am going to try a class called Zumba-has anyone else heard about it? I have a goal to lose 50 more lbs by aug 1st- we have a family reunion coming up so i would like to be somewhat beach ready for it- this will be a hard goal- I feel like I am slowing way down, even though I am on target for only being 5 mo out-I am afraid the losing will stop-so I am trying to recommit myself to healthy eating and exercise to keep this going.

    Anyone Banded 9/5/07 ?

    I was banded 9/5/07- I have lost 55 lbs but it is slowing down now- I am still losing 7-8 lbs a month on avg- RED I am am now at about your starting weight so we will see what happens- I will say I probably should eat a little better than I do but you know how that goes- I am trying to step up my exercise to 5 days a week and trying to slow down on the starbucks!!

    i go once a month-but have only had 3 fills-have good restriction thus far

It depends on your dr. some dr's follow the manufacturers guidelines for the fills- mine does not-he goes off of what the patients tell him- i am sure he looks at the weight loss also- average is to lose 1-2lbs a week-so if you are steady and do not feel restricted I think you should be able to get a fill-but again your doc makes that decision.
