it could have been the diovan or the tums- i was told to only take liquid meds in the beginning- i have just moved up to pills recently- i am in week 4 now.

Mine Left Me One Week After Surgery- I Am Three Weeks Out And No More Gas!

I have UHC choice and it was covered, but I was over bmi 40- you may try to appeal their decision and see what happens-as far as I know by changing to ppo it doesn't mean it will change the criteria for approval.

Chris- I have UHC and they covered my lapband surgery- if you have some sort of complication I asssume they would investigate anyway to make sure they are compelled to pay-so I think posting your history would be a good idea- it is amazing what we forget -I know that a lot of people that have some plastic surgery and get it covered through insurance do because it is an impediment on their health and not just cosmetic so I beleive if you had some issues that were endangering your health- the health insurance should pay.

Darr, How did it go?

I used to work in life insurance and I know weight loss surgery is considered a risk for 2 years- I imagine it might be similar for health insurance- once you are more than 2 years out the risk decreases- but I guess it would vary from insurance company to insurance company.

my dr advised me not to take baths for at least 8 weeks- this is to avoid bacterial infection.

Yes, I also had the back pain-did not have shoulder pain though-just get up as much as possible and take gasx. It does help with the stomach pain.I also slept with the heating pad and would rotate it from my stomach to my back-after about one week the pain should subside.

I am 11 days post op- I burp too-I think it is when my pouch is telling me to stop eating which is usually after 4 oz of liquid. It is normal-so don't worry:)

days 3,4, and 5 were really rough. I am feeling pretty good now-just some back pain-and a little pain in my port area-I am having trouble also getting in all the liquids- But I have been improving over the last couple of days- it is pretty much all about planning-I feel like I have to plan to get all my liquids in- I have yet to get 8 glasses of water in one day.I guess it is just a work in progress and it will get better each day. I have been getting hungry though- I still have two more weeks of liquid.arg..but on the positive side the numbers on my scale has been going down so no complaints there.

I was banded on 9/5 and I too have back pain-i think a lot of it is the gas pain-just get up and walk as much as possible-this will help alleviate the pain- I have 6 incisions- I think I had some scar tissue from a previous surgery that is why I have 6 incisions and not 5.

broth, sf popsicles, sf jello, water.. also as far as I know ibuprofen is no longer to be taken after surgery or 10 days before- they have liquid form adult strenght tylenol at the drug store- also a heating pad is nice after for the port pain and the gas

bloo, I felt the same as you- today I am 7 days post op and I just started to feel better yesterday- take your pain meds if you need them-especially for the pains in your shoulder- try walking as much as possible it helps get all those gas pains out of your body. keep your chin up-I know eventually this will be a distant memory in all of this.

gurley girl- I was thinking that same thing but from what I have heard in a couple weeks the weight loss will slow down once I start introducing real foods. the last couple of days I have been doing 1/2 c broth 3 x day, 2 popcicles, jello, and water mixed in there. I have been trying to do protein shakes but so far they are not agreeing with me-if you know what I mean- I am finding it extremely difficult to get in all the vitamins-But I feel much better now and I think all the gas pains have pretty much subsided-thank you gas-x!!I really don't feel hunger at all- my body tells me when because it starts growling and growling loudly!! I try to have something every 3 hrs or so.I will root for you and your surgery -not too long now!

they will not turn you away-my dr wanted me to lose 10% of my body weight- I lost about 7%-nothing was said to me on surgery day about the 8 lbs I did not lose-they just want your mind in the game and for you to be prepared for this journey-also helps them in surgery due to the shrinkage in liver size due to weight loss- you are doing great!

my dr said protein drinks can also be used during the 1st two weeks post op-just mix them thick with no more than 4oz of water. I use lots of ice-goes down better that way- I am only 3 days post op and will try 2 shakes a day-mainly for energy.

80 oz of water-bah humbug... there is no way.... I cannot even do the 64 oz right now..

yes, i did pre-op- i only lost 10lbs in 4 mo on low carb but then lost another 9lbs on my liquid diet before surgery- I had heard some people gain from anesthesia but I weighed the same after surgery and today down 5 lbs-no doubt from the lack of being able to consume anything but SF popsicles and water which is really hard to get down for some reason. This is day 3 for me and I am feeling the same pains under my sternum and left side-today is the worst day so far. I am really hoping it is better tomorrow. I pray for this... i have back pain too-not sure if this is more gas or not. everytime I try to drink it hurts-just a plain miserable day!Hang in there redgirl- I am right there with ya. my dr has me on liquids for 4 weeks post op- do not know how that is possible however there is no way I can even imagine the thoiught of food at this moment-since surgery I have dropped another 5 lbs.
