  1. Well just had a big cry this afternoon because my cow of a doctor wont fill out the forms for super release.. Boo..... She said she didnt feel comfortable saying that without surgery I would die within 12 months.. So back to the drawing board.. I had everything ready to send off to DHS and now i cant so am feeling hopeless and very gutted today.
  2. Can i also just ask did you have to provide proof of income, loans, credit cards etc to send as well... I knew they taxed quite a bit but was shocked when my superfund actually told me the amount, it was around $7-$8k on top of the cost of the operation. Yikes. Lucky my dad made me contribute to super when i was younger so have a healthy amount.
  3. So Im off to see my surgeon (1st appointment with him as have only seen his nurse so far) early next week. Will I get my super letter and quote for apra at that appointment does anyone know? Just wondering if I should book in my gp next week to get her to fill out forms as well.
  4. Ive been a bit quiet of late but still keeping updated on everyones awesome progress. Well I finally got my referral to a surgeon in the mail today and before I could even read it the surgeons office was calling me to make an appointment for tomorrow omg.. As much as I would love to go tomorrow I am fighting off a ear & throat infection so had to make it for 2 weeks time. And here I was thinking it would take forever for an appointment. Anyone have any reviews on Dr Ian Michell at the Epworth in Melbourne? Ive googled and found a few good reports but was hoping someone on here may have some feedback.
  5. Wow, you guys are kicking ass in the weight loss stakes. I'm so inspired.. I've ticked the first thing off my list, and my specialist is working on my referral letter as I type. So once I receive that I can make my appointment with the surgeon and start on my new journey. New year, new me..
  6. Hi everyone. I've been following your stories over the past few weeks and am so inspired and encouraged by your experiences with the sleeve. My cardiologist suggested WLS to me about 18 months ago and I thought he had gone crazy at the time, but have come to the realisation that I can't lose this weight by myself and keep it off just by dieting and exercising. That and the fact that he recently told me that if I don't lose weight I might be on his operating table within 5-10 years.. So a little about me. Almost 39 year old, Melbourne Mum of a 4 year old and 10 month old. I'm 163cm and somewhere around 93kg (have stopped weighing myself as too depressing) which puts my bmi around 35. During my last pregnancy I developed gestational diabetes and high blood pressure so cardiologist thinks I'm a ticking time bomb. So here's where I'm hoping you lovely people might be able to point me in the right direction as I don't know where to start.. I've been referred to Ian Michell in Melb, but I will be self funding hopefully through super release. Do I get an appointment with the surgeon first and then apply for super or do I have to have that approved first? I'm a bit overwhelmed with what needs to be done to get the ball rolling. Thanks in advance
