Anybody taking Collagen?
princesstia replied to soocalchic's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I've been using collagen for the last 2 months (powder form) and am in love with it. Collagen has so many benefits! I've noticed my skin is snapping back like nobody's business, my hair nails and skin is becoming so healthy and my cravings are extremely reduced. I enjoy the powder form for better absorption however.. Good luck! you'll love it! -

Your welcome.. Slow and steady wins the race. I wouldn't mind losing slowly. Give my skin a chance to bounce back as well! -

4 months out.. & so stressed
princesstia replied to MissTiffany203's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I'll be officially 20 weeks out tomorrow and have lost 67 pounds so far. I've experienced the same stalls as well, but I've done something that almost always gets me to the right track. Whenever I reach a stall, yet still maintaining my healthy eating habits and exercising daily (i do crossfit twice per week and cardio 4 times per week) I find that my body is retaining water. So I take a water pill maybe once per week. Sure enough, I pee like crazy for about 4 hours in that day, rehydrate during the day, and by the time i step on the scale the next morning, I'm about 4 pounds down, which is what i should've expected during that week anyway. It weighs out for me... also during my cycle time, my body retains soooo much water, so i actually let my cycle completely go through then the day after my last day i have a water pill just to release all that water. Look hunny, truth be told, as long as the scale isn't moving up and your staying active, your alright! hope this helps a bit! Also, i definitely notice, when i'm retaining water and have a water pill, inches go as well. -
I had dr.feiz and my emotions are mixed. i had the worse time post op (hospitalized for 2 months due to complications).. but overall surgery and after care were stellar for me! pm if there is anything specific you'd like to know. i am 60 pounds down in 4 months...

I actually dont have any extra skin. Definitely needs some tightening up, but I take collagen daily and that helps a ton. -

I take this brand (you can find at GNC or online).. It's 1 scoop mixed in juice or whatever you'd like. I usually throw a scoop in my Protein shake and its like its not even there. Lasts for about a month too! -

Collagen is one of those beauty drugs people often forget about. Collagen increases skin elasticity, smoothes away scars, and regenerates hair and nails. Collagen makes up 25% of the body's Protein and is used particularly for hair loss because it supports the body's hair building protein. It is also targets many of the problems associated with WLS including hair loss, saggin skin, and protein loss. -

I was in the hospital for about 2 months. had the surgery dec 20th, around the 13th of january was not able to keep any solids down so i had an upper gi done and it was determined that there was too much scar tissue so went back in for a revision to clear the scar tissue on jan 20th felt even worse afterwards and on the 25th had a stent placed in my esophagus for 10 days to open the stricture helped a tiny bit but had 2 dilations after that and was back and forth in the hospital until they determined i contracted a syndrome called SMA (semantic mesenteric artery) where pretty much theres this fat slab that holds the intestines in place and in my rapid weight loss, i lost that slab as well my intestines shifted onto an artery that was lodged against my esophagus and that i would probably have problems for the rest of my life.. long story short after being fed through a pic line for 2 months and basically being told there was nothing they could do, i discharged myself from the hospital, had the pic line removed, and decided to heal myself. Started eating even if it wouldnt stay down and staying active and COMING OFF ALLL THE MEDICATIONS and since I've done that i feel fine can eat fine (besides the limitations of the sleeve) and am exercising daily with loads of energy. I'm doing crossfit training and losing about 6 pounds per week no stalls no complications.. but it was such a scary experience i almost regretted doing it. -

Hi, I'm 24 5'7 and had a starting weight of 256lbs so we're pretty close. I had my surgery on December 20, 2012 and today I am 194 pounds so a total of 60 pounds lost since surgery. I think everyone is different but here are some pics of my before and after. I had a pretty rough time until about 3.5 months out, but at this point i don't regret it! Hope this helps.... -
I'm extremely excited about my progress. I will be 4 months post op 4/20 and weighed in at 196.2 this morning. last time i stepped on the scale i was 202. I'm super excited! I haven't been this size since high school. I started at 2x/3x tops and 16/18 pants. now I'm a large in tops and 13/14 in pants! such a major change in only 16 weeks! even though i was hospitalized for 2 months and went on a hell of a ride since I've been sleeved, I am now seeing the benefits. Best decision ever!!!

Happy to report.. I'm back to normal. I had the worse and am just now seeing the payoff 3 months out. I've lost 60lbs total so far.. 56 since surgery. I'm feeling good and looking good might I add! Hope every who had December surgeries are doing well!

And I'm alive to live to tell about it.as everyone knows I've had my highs and lows on what this entire experience has done to me and I was made a vowel to myself that I wouldn't make it more or less what what it was. To say the least I regret it. I am almost repulsed with stepping on a scale everyday. I look at a scale and want to run out of the house. Started the journey back on December 20,212 and thought it was the best decision I have ever made. Fast forward to 7 weeks post op and I've had 2 additional surgeries ave hospitalized for the last 10 days. Better days are ahead I can feel. I'm working with a world glass team and they know they're stuff. I'm eating drinking and having urinations and bowel movements. Had tomato bisque with cranberry juice and sorbet for dinner. It was yummy. Within about 10 minutes of that was off to restroom letting it all out. My stent is set to come out this upcoming Tuesday and I'm so glad for that! Hopefully this is the beginning of the new sleeve for me. Some stats; SW: 256 CW: 209 GE: 140 Almost out of the 200s. Would not have been able to do that in 7 weeks. Good bye 46 pounds!

I said it right. I was originally sleeved on december 20th 2012. About 3-4 weeks out started having major complications with swallowing and nausea and vomiting. A day after my 4th week post op my surgeon ordered an upper gi series and it showed lots of scar tissue causing a stricture between my esophagus and stomach allowing nothing to enter the sleeve. Was scheduled for a repair the following Thursday January 24th and it was worse than the surgeon expected. Turned out to be a 3 hour procedure and I woke up in horrific pain. Today I am 4 days post op from the second surgery and nausea is worse than ever and I'm dry heaving so help me god! My abdomen and left shoulder have sharp pains shooting through them. Will be meeting with surgeon again tomorrow to decide next course of action.. I cannot believe i did this to myself. Honestly, that's just where I am at with this whole situation...

Only 4 weeks post op and I can actually see the 30 pounds gone away... It's been tough but I'm actually ok with the results so far. I'm pretty tall so I thought it would take at least 50 pounds to see a difference. My concern is that at 6 months post ill be underweight ;(... Not too worried. But during these rough patches, these pics are great inspiration that all the suffering isn't for nothing!

I'm like this is great... To actually see it!

Well unfortunately I'm writing today's blog with such an attitude. At 4 weeks out, I still can't even keep liquids down comfortably. I hate it! I was so stressed out and tired last night that I just got on my knees and prayed. I'm tired of crying, tired of the thirst (not hunger, but thirst!)... I'm sure when I get to my post op appointment I will be put on an IV for dehydration because I've taken in less than 20oz each day over the last week. I feel so unhealthy and can't even complain because I elected this. I'm sure this is PMS or one of those emotional stages we all go through.. But I definitely don't like it! On the other hand, I'm down 30 pounds. Here are my stats: HW: 256 SW: 247 Day I left surgery: 258 CW: 226 Not too bad considering all of my clothes are sagging but my body feels really jiggly so I know I have to get in the gym and do sme weight lifting but I vowed to not do anything until I can keep down a set number of calories... Keep me in your prayers for I know better days are just ahead!!!
