    Going to Mexico alone

Yes! We could go eat whatever we wanted and have no more than 2 drinks. We went to an italian restaurant inside the hotel we stayed at and I ordered a margherita pizza. I must say that I was so tired and nervous that my tummy was in knots and I could barely finish one piece. I took it "to go" and ate a couple more pieces a few hours later. I forced myself to eat something since I had been fasting for the pre-op tests. I gave the rest to the traveling companions of a fellow sleever.

    Going to Mexico alone

I just went alone last week and was sleeved by Aceves. I felt comfortable the whole time. I met a fellow sleever in the shuttle from the airport to the hospital, had my "last meal" with them at the hotel, and we were always checking in on each other in our rooms. I never felt alone and was grateful to them for the companionship! I think you will have a similar experience and will definitely run into fellow sleevers while doing your walking in the hospital. You will be fine!
  4. I don't have any knowledge of your surgeon either, but I can tell you that Aceves and his staff are great. I was sleeved by him last week and it was an amazing experience.
  5. My surgery date is also 12/20!
  6. Good to know! The drain and the spinal block were my biggest fears.
  7. Oh, that's good to know! Thanks! What is the drain like? Does it hurt to get removed?

    Mexico Check List

I imagine that it isn't very tasty but seems like a good way to get a lot of Protein. Even if it is gross I have to drink it!

    Pcp?

I am afraid he will try to talk me out of it and I am changing docs in January anyway.
  11. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. I am scheduled with Dr. Aceves on 12/20 and hearing a step-by-step account of the events really put me at ease. I must admit... I had no idea there was going to be a spinal block so that worries me a bit!
  12. I am scheduled 12/20 with Dr. Aceves!
  13. Did something happen with Aceves that made you switch doctors?

    Pcp?

I am not telling my PCP or ob/gyn. They will find out the next time they see me.

    Mexico Check List

Good question! I am stocking up on broth and Isopure for when I get back, but I hadn't thought about post-surgery! I am scheduled for the 20th with Aceves.

    Dec 20 Sleevers!

Hi folks! My surgery date is the 20th with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I have to follow a 7-day low-carb high-protein diet, but I started today just for fun! I will be in the hospital for 3 nights and back on the 23rd. I am scared & excited at the same time!
