Not disclosing details about surgery to employer
sleever10 replied to schavez2010's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had mine done in Mexico, too (12/20/12 with Aceves). Only my husband and my best friend (since 3rd grade) knew. I didn't even tell my mom until one month after the fact. -
Ugh. Isopure. I bought three cases online. Still have one and 11 bottles. What a waste! That stuff is nasty. I knew when I bought it that I may not like it, but that I needed it to get my protein in, like it or not. I really can't handle it!

Yes, I do agree. Vitamin and nutrient deficiencies can lead to a myriad of health problems. If you have a smartphone check for pillminder apps. I use Pillboxie and yes, it's a struggle to get my supplements in every single day... especially if I have nausea, acid reflux issues, etc. For your health, do try to make it a priority. Good luck!

I am almost 6 weeks out and yesterday I had really bad acid problems. I was on Protonix and that really wasn't working for me. My surgeon suggested Nexium for a RX or Prilosec for an OTC. Today I will start the Prilosec and see if that helps.

Do you have to specify that your leave is for medical reasons? -
I drink Propel Zero - that's the only thing I can get down.

Everything tastes bland / Aversion to food
sleever10 replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am kind of the same way. I was sleeved 12/20 and eating is no longer an enjoyable experience, it seems like another chore. I do eat and keep food down, it just isn't enjoyable anymore. -
YES! I also found that pressing a pillow against mine as I was getting up from a seated position helped alot.

Awesome!

It took a good three weeks for me to move like normal and not feel pain. My hubby had to help me put on my sucks and undies and wash my legs and feet in the shower. I am a little over five weeks po and it still is a bit uncomfortable to pick stuff off the floor. I think this is all normal.

BM questions-kind of embarrassed
sleever10 replied to TXBell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had diarrhea the whole time I was on liquids. I read on one of these forums something about "liquids in, liquids out." It is what it is. Once you start eating solids it should subside. As for the Water, I count my two Premier Protein shakes as water intake, so I try to drink 3-4 bottles of water a day. One before Breakfast, one before lunch, and another before dinner. Then in the evening I try to get another one in if I am watching TV or something. I don't like plain water so I either add Mio or drink Propel. I would like to add in more water to my day though, but it is hard. -
Sorry weird question but..

Blood in stool anyone?
sleever10 replied to twinsmama05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience is that it is hemorrhoids also and I think the bright red blood is the clue. I would also have a little blood on the TP. It's scary to experience but likely nothing to worry about. You might mention it to your doc if you are concerned. -
I just cried ( melt down )

I have been there, too. Sometimes the emotional part is the hardest. I was sleeved 12/20 and on clear liquids at Christmas. That was pretty rough and a bowl of homemade Chex Mix caused my tears. I keep reading that it does get better so I just keep that in mind. It does get better! -
Only four days after my surgery my surgeon's team had me begin exercising. I still didn't feel so great so I waited until the fifth day and did 15 minutes on the treadmill at 2.5mph. Nothing strenuous (obviously!) but it made me feel a lot better. I am a little over five weeks out and up to 30 minutes at 3.0mph four times a week. Still nothing strenuous, but am slowly increasing speed/duration. Hope you feel better very soon!

you do look great! what shoes are you wearing in the after shot? love them! -
Just out of curiosity, how far out are you? I am almost 4 weeks and can barely get 1/4 of a patty down. Would love to be able to actually eat my Protein instead of drinking it.
-
It has 20g of protein per patty. These are Trident Salmon Burgers if you want to see more at MFP.

Those are good! I like to melt a slice of cheese on top. Yum!
