what is your favorite snack post op
sleever10 replied to newgrandmother's topic in Food and Nutrition
This isn't an ideal post-op snack by any means, but SmartFood Popcorn goes down real nice. Don't tell! -
Constipation HELL....P!
sleever10 replied to c3mcmahon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem and read on here to take two fiber gummies. There are some made by FiberWell that are 5g of carbs (5g fiber) per serving. There is a coupon for them right now at Costco if you have one near you. Two of these around late afternoon makes the magic happen the next morning - like clockwork! It may be too early for you right now, so do try the Miralax. I did that first but I don't want to have to rely on Miralax to be able to do my business. -
It's called Sriracha and it's Thai.

Calcium...is there any other way to get the required amount and avoid the horse pills?
sleever10 replied to Rachele's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be sure to get calcium citrate as it is the best absorbed. Citracal has some petites that are 400mg, so I take two of those. -
staying alone after surgery ?
sleever10 replied to debiosbo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here are some things I had issues with and needed my hubby to help: 1. Putting on undies, pants, and socks 2. Getting things out of high cupboards/low shelves in the fridge 3. Bathing from the waste down and then drying myself off 4. Feeding pets - getting the bowls on the floor 5. Getting out of bed or up off the couch - there is no way I could have done it on my own 6. Driving was uncomfortable and I preferred hubby drove for a few days I could be wimpy, but found that some help was essential for the most basic of things. -
If you have frequent diarrhea you should make a concerted effort to increase your fluid intake - and I know this is hard. I drank a lot of strained egg flower soup in your stage and that was easy to get down. You may even try some Gatorade for the short term. I hope you find relief soon, and do see the doc if you think you have the flu.

Kashi Protein Calculator - How much protein is right for me?
sleever10 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came across this today and gave it a try. It gave me an obscene (meaning way more Protein than I could consume in a day) protein recommendation. Kashi Protein Calculator What do you folks make of this? -

Very crazy. That would be 684 calories. I will definitely be sticking to my doctor's recommendation, also! -

Indeed! By no means was I considering it the be all and end all of Protein recommendations. I guess I was just more shocked by the number it calculated. -
Mine lasted about two weeks. It's rough, I know! I think my 6 week one is starting now. Ugh!

Today i found out that i streched my pouch
sleever10 replied to LadiWobs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It surprises me to hear of so many people who didn't have any post-op leak tests. I had two (and one in the OR). -
Between my surgery day and my first day back at work I had 12 days off and that was enough for me.
-
You look amazing!

38 and so scared of having surgery!
sleever10 replied to christy38's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 37 and I also had my surgery in December. What TheCurvyJ says is right! When they wheeled me in to the OR they said they were going to put some bandages on my legs. I remember raising my leg to facilitate that, and the next thing I knew I was in recovery! -
Always hungry!

Prilosec AND Zantac?
sleever10 replied to sleever10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, guys! I will take Zantac tonight and Prilosec in the morning. -
I was prescribed Protonix for my PPI post surger (about 6 weeks ago). It isn't working after doubling the dose (morning and night) and using Gaviscon as needed. My surgeon recommended I switch to Prilosec. I know Prilosec won't help with the symptoms I have NOW. Can I take a Zantac and then start my Prilosec tonight? Thoughts?
