Air While Drinking...
Beckyyb93 replied to Beckyyb93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For anyone else experiencing this, I figured out what was causing it. I was eating and drinking too close together so I guess was too full to be drinking causing pain. Now I drink 45 minutes after I eat and am fine -
Clear liquids suck, but for me it only lasted a week. I bought Unjury then couldn't tolerate it post op. the Lean Dessert shakes are really good, the banana cream pudding legitimately tastes like banana cream pudding which is nice. I have Nectar chocolate and vanilla, I use them daily. The vanilla is great, I put orange juice in it or blend it up with frozen fruit. The chocolate tastes like chocolate milk and is really good, I have been putting PB2 in it and it's like Reese's...yum!! I have IsoPure but again the premades are hit and miss. I like the green, I think it's apple melon. I also got IsoPure unflavored for Christmas from my boyfriend and it's a godsend. MUCH better than Unjury unflavored and you can put it anything like soup, pudding, jello, really anything and there's no funny taste and it blends well. I would say that's a staple that you'll regret not having. I personally don't like any of the premade sweet drinks that I have tried including Premier which most people love. To me, mixing powder with light vanilla soy milk just tastes better all around. I can tolerate milk just fine, I just prefer soy milk in my shakes. Good luck! Your making a wonderful decision for yourself

I'm doing better, things are starting to go down without pain. I have some kidney problems and saw my doctor today, I was completely dehydrated which is not acceptable for my body. She yelled at me and told me to force fluids, she told me not to actually puke but to get close to it. I need to be getting 80 oz of water a day and I'm getting about 30 so I'm working hard to get my water intake up. I feel like I'm constantly drinking but I'm not actually getting that much fluid down so I'll have to work harder. I'm also not losing much, maybe that has to do with the dehydration. I started at 262 and I'm at 247 and it's been 3 weeks, I'm hoping I'll start losing soon it seems like I'd have to...I'm only getting 500 calories a day. Other than still getting tired easily, I'm doing pretty good.

Okay, so I had surgery on the 19th and I guess I'm just still really swollen but I hate food. I don't want to eat and it hurts when I do. The only time I can force myself to eat is after I take pain medicine. I'm not hungry, I just don't want food ever. I'm worried that it's going to affect my weight loss because I'm not taking in enough calories and I don't want my body to go into starvation mode. It's just really frustrating. The only thing I like is Water and I drink it when I can but everything else is terrible. Food doesn't even taste very good anymore. Is this ever going to go away or am I just stuck this way? If I can take in enough calories to get my body out of starvation mode then I guess I can lose a lot of weight but this does pretty much suck.

Kinda Down...Need to Vent :(
Beckyyb93 replied to Beckyyb93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you will physically be able to go, but I doubt you will feel like it. If you want to go and have a great time you may want to postpone. You'll feel pretty out of it for a while and cars aren't your friend at first, you feel every single bump. Good luck! -
What pain meds did you have
Beckyyb93 replied to msreaina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had iv pain medicine in the hospital and was sent home on Lortab, for the first few days it was gross but now I guess my brain knows that it takes away the pain so I can tolerate it VERY easily and I LOVE it. It's amazing, I like it better than any pain medicine I've ever been sent home on and will request it in the future. -

Yeah, I'm still not feeling any regret. I know I will lose weight which is what I wanted originally because I'm not hungry and I literately have to force myself to eat. I'm hopeful, just frustrated with the pain. I have some kidney issues and the best thing for me is water, I used to hate it and not be able to drink plain water at all and now it's the only thing I want to put in my mouth. That alone is worth doing the surgery for me because it will GREATLY improve my condition. That was God giving me a break and I'm very appreciative for it -
I'm still pretty swollen and I was the 19th. My doctor put me on steroids and still has me taking the pain medicine so I can get food and water down. I go see him again tomorrow and he had hoped the swelling would be a lot better but it's not so I'm not too sure what he has planned. I guess we will see. Good luck and just go slow, I know how it feels though and it sucks. When your in pain you have no interest in food and without being hungry, it's hard to force yourself to eat. I hope it gets better for both of us soon!

Dose anyone know where to get liquid Tylenol
Beckyyb93 replied to Breeg89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CVS has it -
I have nectar Fuzzy Naval and have heard nothing about wonderful things about it but I tried it and it was gross! Any suggestions? I put 4 oz of Water into a shaker bottle, put in half a scoop of the Protein Powder, shook it up a few times and took a sip. To start with, the powder wasn't dissolved all the way and there were chunks, it was GROSS. Cloudy and not like fruit juice at all, I tasted the whey and I could only stomach one sip. Are there any tricks? Maybe mixing it with milk or blending it in a blender with ice? Help! I want to like it so much but as of now I can't handle it.
-
I want a Protein powder that is yummy mixed with Water. I was hoping for something fruity versus sweet and tried nectar Fuzzy Naval but it was disgusting. I could barely get down one sip. I'm sending that back and am now looking for a replacement. I'd love to hear your suggestions and I'll try yet again to find a fruity shake that I can mix with water. Thanks!

Do be careful with this, your taste buds definitely change. I can't tolerate some of the stuff now that was great before I was sleeved. Good luck!
-
My only complaint is it leaves kind of an odd taste/feeling in your mouth after you drink it. It's great for you if you can get it down though.
-
Yes, and my favorite flavor so far is the melon which is green. It's pretty good for being filled with protein.
-
Okay, so my recovery has been amazing...I feel great and I'm getting in my fluids and my protein is going down slowly but I'm getting about 2 oz every two hours. I don't have a treadmill at my house, I have an elliptical. I work out at a gym but I'm trying to get in short and frequent exercise which is rough to do at a gym. Can I lightly use my elliptical? I'm considering buying a treadmill but it'd be so much easier if I could just use what I already have. Opinions? Is it worth buying a treadmill?
-
No, he didn't discuss it with me. He wanted to do an egd but I had just had one so I just faxed him the results and he was fine with that. I'm taking my pain medicine and trying to get all of my Protein in. I did better today, I'm mixing greek yogurt with the silk and Protein powder then watering it down with skim milk. It goes down alright and has 14 grams of protein per 4 ounces which I can stomach every few hours.
-
Yeah, what does it mean? Is that what's causing the swelling?
-
I'm the opposite, I can drink water easier than I can eat Jello. I can only get about half a cup of jello down before I'm full. I'm weird though, so take what I say with a grain of salt good luck!
-
Yeah, I haven't used the elliptical. I'll talk to my doc but for now I'm not taking in enough calories to be burning them all off. I need to heal more before I can even think about harder exercise than walking. Thanks for all the advice, I was just being impatient.

Here's a quick update on me: I haven't been on in a while, I've been really tired. I can't get much down, I'm still getting around 200 calories a day and 20 grams of Protein. I went to my doctor for a follow up and he said I have h. pylori in my stomach which is the bacteria that causes ulcers so he's treating with this mega antibiotic. I have to take 4 pills in the morning and 4 at night for 14 days. Hopefully that will get rid of it. He also gave me a steroid to help with the swelling which is causing me not to be able to get any food down. He said if it's not better by next week when I go in to see him again we are going to have to figure something out because I'm not getting enough food to sustain myself. He also prescribed more painkillers because without those I can barely choke down Water. Needless to say, I hope I feel better soon so I can get more food down and have more energy. For now, I'm just taking it day by day, resting a lot, and forcing as much Fluid and protein down as possible. I'll keep everyone updated as I start to feel better.

If your still in pain, then take the pain medicine every 6 hours...that's what they gave it to you for! You want to be in the least amount of pain possible so you can heal. I'm sure your almost out of the woods but until you feel better take the pain medicine religiously. Good luck!
-
I'm 3 days out and the pain is minimal, I'm still taking the Lortab just to be on the safe side but it's definitely very manageable. What did they give you for pain? Are you taking it easy? You should feel better soon...it'll be worth it in the end!
