  6. Hang on for the ride of our life it goes so fast your brain can not keep up with it. I recommend finding a support group, do your head work. I getting close to the end, and see the light at the end of the tunnel, and your in the starting phase, and it's exciting ! Don't forget the surgery is just an invitation to the party, you still need to show up and dance the dance.

    confused

Don't worry after the 3 week stall you will start to loose fast again. The stalls are just part of the process, you get worried you are doing some thing wrong or the surgery stopped working. The stalls are the way your body looses weight, you are putting your body through a big change.

    Is there hope

My Doctor only hires staff that have had the surgery, and two of his nurses have had the revision, and are doing wonderfully. there success is what help me to decide to get the sleeve instead of the band
  11. Ready2tryagain I was over weight since I was 9 years old, at high school graduation I was 300 Lbs. So fir the first time in my life I am approaching "normal" , this feel very surreal. You would think this would be easy but it is all a "brave new world" to me. Before surgery I was deathly afraid but for me it was nothing, not a smallest pinch of pain. I went in at 5:00 and was home by 9:00 with no problems. The first week I just slept a lot.
  12. Today I hit my goal that I set at the beginning of the journey. From 511 Lbs. to 220 Lbs. , 290 Lbs. lost in a year and four months. It hasn't ben easy, but it wasn't all that hard. I had no problems with the surgery (what so ever) and feel pretty good. Over the year I have vomited about 6 time learning what I can and can not eat, and not because I have eaten to much. I consider that the surgery is just the first step. I consider my continuing attendance at my doctors support group just as important . When you start this process you do it to loose weight, but what you are really saying is that I want to be a different person. If you have the surgery and remain the same person you are headed for trouble. This is not easy for you, and the people around you. The surgeon can work on your body but you have to work on your brain. It is much easier for the body to loose weight than it is for the brain to loose weight (the things that got us into trouble to begin with) . So do what ever it takes to get you brain on program, support groups, counseling, or what ever. Remember you have to push yourself to do thing you never thought you could, this is all in line with the process of becoming a new person. I wanted to post for the new people to let them know this works if you do your part to work on you mind and emotions. I am still loosing weight, so I am adding a small stretch goal of another 10 pounds, I want the bragging rights of saying that I lost 300 Lbs. PS. For you new people visualize your self writing this post in the future "I Hit My Goal"

I have found that a lot of people have a stall at the 3 week mark, I also had one. Also at three weeks a lot of people are a little more emotional at this time. I think both the body and the mind are going through a adjustment period.

    Egg drop soup

I had a small cup both Pre & Post Op with no problems. Its fairly low calorie, around 60.
  15. Had A month stall at the 1 year mark... but weight loss has started again. YEA! Lost 270 Lbs. so far 21 Lbs. to go to my original goal
  16. No didn't need to, I felt great, and my doctor does a scope after surgery so there was no need to do the leak test the next day
  17. I had no problems whatsoever I was home in 4 hours, never felt any pain, I just slept a lot the first few days and I am 5'8"
  18. My advise is don't worry about it. you are going to loose the weight. use the time after surgery to break any food addictions you may have, so don't push resuming your comfort foods. In my case I lost all interest in food. Remember its not a numbers game Its a new life thing. I am 11 months out and lost 255 pounds coming from 511. Good Luck
  19. I started out at 511 10 months ago and now I am at 270 and it has been pretty easy after the first month and I am 54 years old so at 18 you will do a lot better god luck and keep the faith
  20. Good Luck tomorrow, you have done so well up to this point
  21. My scale just started reading in the Two Hundred's. Hardly seams possible when it used to read in the Five Hundred's.
  22. You might look in to a different doctor that will do the surgery at a higher weight if you can't get unstuck. 480 to 400 is a big number on your own. I had to find a doctor the would do my sleeve a higher weight. I started out at 51lbs and had to loose 50lbs on my own before surgery, so I had my surgery at 464lbs. I am 5 and half months out and have just hit 200lbs lost mark and now I am at 310lbs. FYI I had my hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve done. Good Luck

    Escape.....

My doctor's support group is 95 percent woman, and a lot of the time I am the only guy. While at first I found this intimidating it has been an extremely positive experience. It has changed me for the better, I have learned to talk about things I never thought I could, or even things I didn't understand or have awareness of. I spent my first 50 years not talking to anybody about anything and that got me to 511 pounds. The doctor worked on the physical part, the head and heart need similar work. I didn't get to 511 lbs. buy just physical things (like I like the taste potato chips) My whole life needs surgery not just my stomach.
  24. You just look so much happier
