    Before and After, 8 months

After 8 months of post op I can say that this lifestyle change is now routine and part of my life. Some days I feel like things don't happen any more and I do still have some days here my head hunger drives me to eat the wrong things, but all in all, it is moving in the right direction. Took my first before and after pic today and thought I would share. I'm not a rapid loser and am somewhere between 85-90 pounds in 8 months. I need some motivation to join a gym and finish this endeavor! Any insight to how it has been joining gyms for any of those who had never gone before would be great to hear.

    Before and After

  3. I am 3.5 months post surgery and have been progressing at a snails pace since early February. I have lost about 55 pounds total, only 15 in the last 6 weeks. I saw the doctor for my 3 month post op last week and he had hoped i would be at a 70-75 pound weight loss. I am eating the right things, getting in my protein and water. i just don't know what else to do. Exercising 3 -4 days a week and am going to try to increase it some. Some days I wonder if this was the right thing to do. I know 50 pounds is better than 0 but I really want to see more! Any advice?
  4. I packed pajamas, makeup, slippers and a book, none of which left my bag. I wore the same clothes home (loose sweats). I couldn't wear jeans for a week. I had an hour drive home so wish I would have taken a throw blanket and a pillow for my belly. Chapstick is a must!

    All of my December sleevers...

I have been playing WIi fit for 30-40 minutes a day. That may sound easy but I definitely get a workout with some of the faster activities.

    All of my December sleevers...

I was sleeved on 12/12 and am down 34 pounds total. Have a couple good weeks then a couple of slow weeks. As long as it is moving in the right direction!
  7. I went in yesterday for 3 week post op. 26 pounds since 2 weeks pre op. i wanted mire but he was happy. I have struggled with soft food and protein so he moved me to soft food. Hooray, what a relief. Best of luck to you!

    Nectar Protien

I am sure the OJ is not preferred but I have only been getting in about 300 calories a day so I figured it was worth the calories to get the protein. The sugar seemed to settle ok as well.

    Nectar Protien

I choked down the first couple that I made with water. I saw that someone mixed the Fuzzy Navel with orange juice. Drinking one of those right now and am enjoying it.
  10. I was sleeved on December 12th and have also struggled with protein. Am now getting in 1 Costco Premier (30 g) and a half bottle of Isopure (20g) in addition to the small amounts in broth. Wasn't losing much post op but have hit 1 pound a day x 3 in a row now. Thanks to all who encouraged me between week 2 and 3. Tracking my intake on "myfitnesspal" is definitely helping me. It is so easy and has the nutritional info for protein shakes and even exercise info from my Wii fit. Down 13 post op now. Not as much most but I know it will keep coming off!
  11. I think something is wrong with me. Sleeved on 12/12 and am only down 10 pounds since surgery. I am only getting in about 1-1.5 shakes a day with about 8 ounces of broth/soup. Could I be stuck because I am not getting enough protein/calories? So frustrated right now! On liquids for 2 more weeks (5 weeks total).

    Surgery in the morning....

Best of luck to you. My surgery was December 12th and it went really well. The pain was minimal and I was home the following day. I was also worried about the hospital stay but day 1 I was pretty sleepy and day 2 I went home. Thoughts are with you!
  13. Becky-- Hang in there, you will get through this. I was sleeved on the 12th and have struggled getting in protein as I have had my fill of shakes. The sweetness was killing me. I have tried a few other things. I bought some zero carb isopure from GNC. It tastes like a sour Kool-Aid. No creamy sweetness like a shake. It is a big bottle (20 ounces) but it has the consistency of water so maybe you can get it down. Take it day by day!
  14. I had a very easy surgery with minimal pain but I don't think I would have felt like an hour drive after a few days. Your body will be healing and you will want to rest.
  15. My friend had her surgery at Northwest Weight Loss in Seattle and loves the staff/surgeon. I am not sure if they take medicare.

    freezing ?

My husband just threatened to buy me an electric blanket to use when I am watching tv so I don't roast out the whole house. 3 weeks out and have been cold since surgery.

    Not Losing 3 weeks Post-op

Thank you for all the posts, it is so nice to know I am not alone in this. Looking forward to a few weeks from now! See the Dr. and the nutritionist on Monday and am hoping to advance from full liquids to help get more protein in each day. Keep the vision everyone.

    Best Tasting Protein Powders

I like the Cytosport from Costco. Started with the vanilla (which is very sweet). Bought some chocolate after week 1 and it was much better. Tricks that have made it better. Sugar free flavorings, I like peppermint with the chocolate. Nonfat greek yogurt adds a lot of protein and cuts down on the sweetness. Last but not least, PB2 powder is a peanut butter powder (ordered on Amazon) that has the oil (fat) removed reducing the fat content significantly. You get some added protein from that as well.

    Full liquid question

We bought a ton of vegetables and soup bones, put them in the electric roaster (for a lot, or crock pot for less). (We actually roasted the vegetables with some seasonings to bring out the flavor before we put the crock pot.) Covered with water and cooked for 2 hours on high then 10 hours on low. Strained away all of the vegetables and have some wonderful broth. Have done with both chicken and beef. I was not a vegetable eater before starting this endeavor and am now loving the veggie flavored homemade broth. I am 5 days out from surgery and have been trying this with various other "liquified" strained soups (with unflavored protein powder) to supplement the sweet shakes.
