Good luck to you as well...my surgeon came in, They have grand rounds this morning so I am his first case after that. He is such a gentle and kind man he rub my hand and said I will see you in the OR. The pre-op nursing staff have been great with a wonderful sense of humor. So I am just wait with hubbie....chilling! More on the post op side!

Will go to OR in about an hour.

Fast eater here too! This will be a tough one for me. I hate to say...negative reinforcement "stuck in chest" sensation may help...or vomiting because I HATE throwing up! The first time I throw up because of eating too fast or not chewing well.....I will be extra vigilant from then on! I HATE THROWING UP! -

Ok I like some of the Isopure drinks...just a few. When I was in Vitamin World, the sells person told me Nectar was very popular and many liked it because it was not so sweet. I agree. I ordered a sampler of flavors from one of the bariatric websites, along with many other samplers to try. Variety is the key for me. -
Prays and well wishes! Speedy recovery!

Got approved--now it's "real"
ajeeprider replied to nervousnellie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was so focused in the beginning with getting approved I completely forgot about the surgery. So here I am the day before surgery doing my reality check about every couple of hours. Looking at the clock...asking myself "where will you be tomorrow at this time"? This is so real now....as I stare at my preop instructions and my bottle of germicide body scrub knowing I am only a day away.....scary on this side of surgery. -
Wavering back and forth which surgery choose the sleeve, about 3 weeks pre-op
ajeeprider replied to ccrim03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too looked at the band and did not like the foreign body concept that was with me forever. The bypass with the old stomach hanging out in my gut and the re-routing of my intestines also did not interest me. The VSG seemed to fit the bill....I was still left with my tummy just a smarter size. My surgeon mentioned of course the research is still somewhat inconclusive since the sleeve is not been studied as much as the bypass. The long term success rate is still being investigated. I figured I would become one of the positively reported statistics.....the benefit of research! -

The Beginning--I hope!
ajeeprider replied to Vixynne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi...If you have insurance that you plan to have cover your surgery cost, I advise you read their criteria for coverage, usually they tell you their guidelines to qualify for. There are guidelines too that are standards for qualifying for bariatric surgery that many bariatric surgeons will follow. You can google for those. I would recommend looking through info on this site and start googling to collect more info. I had a BMI of 38-39 but had been diagnosed and well documented in my medical record OA of both knees as well as newly dx severe apnea. Both dx qualified me for surgery based on standard guidelines and my insurance coverage. My BMI was also above 35 which I think is the low end of the guidance for surgery. So do your reasearh . You found this site so keep collecting information. Dont rush into anything especially this until you completely understand what you are getting into. it took me well over a year to understand and make this choice. Knowledge is power. Good luck! -
