A thread for Single Bandsters
Oilburner replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are talking about recovery then I wouldn't be too concerned especially if you are a "fast healer". I had surgery on a Thursday and by Monday I was so stir crazy I mowed the yard. This was the first time I had ever been in the hospital so I don't really have anything to use as a yardstick to know if my recovery time was normal or not. For me the main part of the recovery period was letting my body get used to the reduced calories/energy and not so much getting over the surgery itself. If you still have kids at home be proactive and plan for their needs ahead of time so you don't have to do anything for the first 4 days or so. Other than that don't worry about it and just be excited for yourself. -

I disagree with everybody. You should be approaching this from the viewpoint of "is this guy good enough for me?". You are setting yourself up to like him if he "likes" you which is not healthy. Choose who you like and feel is worthy of your attention and then if they like you great! If not, move on to the next one. -

Judging from you pics you look pretty sexy already. Regarding the other thing, as long as you keep taking them back they will keep showing up -

Denise, I know this may sound cheesy, but think of it like this: If the guy you go out on a date with turns out to be "the one" then the risk will be worth it. If he doesn't turn out to be "the one", then whenever you DO meet "the one" you will look back and be thankful it didn't work out and you really won't care anyway. Relax, be yourself, and see if he's worth your time. -

There is nothing more sexy and attractive than confidence. Get that and your 90% done...the other 10% is luck. -

I hope you don't let it bother you too much. I think for a lot of people who have always been thin there just isn't a way to explain what a burden weight is and how empowering it is to be able to take control of it. I don't know if everybody will be able to understand it, but I would hope that those important to you can be excited for you and appreciative of how it's changed your life. Good Luck! -

That's really strange...I really haven't had that experience. I wonder if it's because your a woman (ya'll can be pretty mean to each other lol) or if it's something else. How do you present "the band" to others...do you describe as something you love (in a very confident way is what I mean) or are you real timid and looking for acceptance? If it's the latter, they could be reacting to the way you present it to them (or they are all just a bunch of shallow and/or stupid people..which is of course a possiblity in this day and age). Come on down to Texas...everybody's nice (at least the ones who were born here:) ). -
Please explain difference between working and stuck (food)
Oilburner posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 1st week of may and everything is going fine. I've had 1 fill so far (VG band) but still don't have any measurable restriction (but I was expecting this with the VG until after a couple fills). One thing I can't understand is that the band keeps food above it and fills up your new "little" stomach. To me, the band basically causes food to get stuck above it. Why doesn't it hurt when the band works normally but it hurts when food gets stuck because the bite is too big (I just can't see why they don't feel the same). -

From a guy's pov.. First on the healing: - I had surgery on a thursday and mowed the yard the following monday. After the first 3 or 4 days the only "adjustment" was getting used to the decreased calories (and of course not over-doing it). On the life thing: From the brief time I've spent looking at some of the dating sites I can tell you that world travel, mountain climbing, wine tasting and watching foreign films will condemn you to being single forever (just take a look at all the single women and what they list as things they "like to do"...case closed). Tell the truth, you might be surprised what happens. -

Since he paid $100 for a meal, I'm betting he's either shy or cautious or both. If you want a kiss, ask him what you need to do to earn a kiss goodnight (if you do it in person i'll bet he turns red). -

I can only think you would be asking too much if you lived in a prison. If not, I would suggest adding a few more things to the list (don't sell yourself short). -
