Looking for friends in Tampa FL.

Hi ladies! I'm in Tampa, going through TGH as well and was just approved a week ago. I do my EGD on Tuesday and hopefully afterwards I will be given a surgery date. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Approved!

I don't know how and I'm too scared to ask but I was APPROVED!! I have called and spoke to 4 different ppl at United Healthcare and they all have confirmed that I was approved for the Gastric Sleeve and all they need is the actual surgery date. I'm blowing up my surgeon's office but no one is answering. The reason I am so shocked is I have only completed 4 of the 6 supervised diet visits but for some reason the insurance specialist submitted my file and it was approved #ThankYouJesus Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Approved!

Hey!! No I actually gained a month or two but my last weigh in was less than my first, which was what the nutritionist told me that as long as the last weigh in was less than the first I would be fine. My policy didn't specify I needed to lose an specific amount of weight Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    United Healthcare

Well I haven't met my out of pocket max. So at the most I will have to pay $2400. I have only paid $100 towards the $2500 so far. I don't know if I will have to put before or after surgery I guess I will find out soon. My policy doesn't specify that I have to lose any weight but if lose I have been and plan to be less then my initial weigh in. Good luck to you as well! I'm hoping a can get a surgery date before the end of the year. I'm doing the sleeve also Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ok.. Because I could never get any direct answer. I have 2 more visits! One this month and then next month! I'm so excited but nervous Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hi Everyone! I meet the surgeon for the first time tomorrow (well today)!! I'm so excited and scared at the same time. This has been a long journey so far and I still have a ways to go. I'm hoping for a surgery date in November as I have 2 more visits left with nutrition. I'm also nervous that the surgeon is going to say I need to have the bypass versus the sleeve (what I really want) because of my starting weight So I wanted to get some ideas on important questions I should ask the surgeon or questions that maybe you wish you would have asked but didn't! And did anyone's surgeon recommend 1 surgery but you chose another? I would definitely appreciate your responses Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Questions For The Surgeon

Me too! I'm so hoping for November. My last nutritionist visit won't be until the end of October so I'm hoping my surgeon's office is quick about submitting and then there is the dreadful insurance wait. So I'm hoping for November but thinking maybe it will be December! Where are you located? What surgery are you having? What's your starting weight if you don't mind sharing? I was down 2 more lbs this morning so exciting.. My starting weight was 354, this morning I was 337. Praying and pushing for 300 day of surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Questions For The Surgeon

Appointment went very well! He did not once suggest the bypass! He said he thinks the sleeve will be a great option for me and he was very impressed with my 15lb weight loss! According to him I can be just as successful with the sleeve as the bypass and I don't have any medical conditions that would make the bypass the best option. Went over everything from the A-Z.. Mortality rate is 0 and he said that his complication rate is 1%- he's had 2 leaks out of all the surgeries he's done and this was after the patient had been released and ate something they shouldn't. Next step is the EDG- couldn't get scheduled until Sept 30th but that's ok because I still have 2 more nutritionist visits. After that submission to the insurance company. Questions For Surgeon

Thanks so much everyone!! I just met with a fellow of the program, still waiting on the surgeon! Super busy today. However, the fellow answered a lot of my questions! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Questions For The Surgeon

I definitely think that is appropriate to ask. The reality is we all think about it and I guarantee you will not be the first person to ask. If he is a great surgeon he will have no problem answering. I went to a seminar my surgeon hosted before I decided on the sleeve and he was very open about his mortality rate(zero) and his complication rate. Thanks for that reassurance because it is something we think about! I'm here now, waiting! So nervous! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Things that I'll be taking to hospital

You know I wasn't going to say anything else but you are being absolutely ridiculous! My dear if you keep running into drama on the forums, you ever stop to think hmmmm....maybe it's you. No one was being rude or manipulative as you said but simply offering assistance and telling you their experience. I'm sooooo glad you have the support you need and I also pray that you aren't so harsh with them. I also tend to believe those that are sooooooo happy with their lives don't feel the need to have to say it constantly. While I hope you are truly happy, I doubt it.. In the words on the late great Michael Jackson (because I know I shouldn't even respond to this)..I'm starting with the man in mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways and I urge you to do the same. The best of luck to you on your journey.. I will now return to my joyless life. Peace, love and happiness. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

down 57 lbs 4 weeks out

My highest weight is 358, I'm currently 347- so I have lost 11 lbs, hoping to lose maybe 30 more. I wish I could be to 300 on surgery date. But I'm not sure if that is achievable. I'm 32, I'll be 33 in November and I keep thinking about all the time I have wasted by not doing something about my years ago. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
