    70 pounds in 5 months

    Welcome

Hi AmyR092, Good luck to you on this journey! While I won't lie to you it will not be easy, it WILL be worth it. I was totally scared and freaked out leading up to my surgery and for a bit right after surgery.......but now, now I would not change a thing. I could not be happier about my decision. The pre-surgical weight loss will be tough but really try to stick with it, seems silly to loose weight to have weight loss surgery but it really does help! Hope you find answers and inspiration here.

    Welcome

Hi, Don't get too stressed out. It seems to come and go, seems like sometimes your body needs to catch up. I am 5 months post op and have lost 72 pounds. Some weeks for me have been better than others as far as weight loss. Try not to get too focused on the scale. I weigh myself every 2 weeks now, also many weeks I noticed the weight loss through my clothes not on the scale. This will and does work, try to keep positive. It's hard but it is working, give your body some time to adjust. Hope this helps a little.

    Welcome

YaY!! I know how exciting the pants thing is....I had the biggest smile when I was able to wear them, in fact now I have 2 old pairs that fit again. Zumba was great this morning, felt good....the fact that I could do it at all was awesome!!

    Healthy nachos!

Yummy!! Thanks for sharing...I will definitely have to try that =)
  8. I have the flinstones too, not my favorite but I just deal with it. I did not find anything good as far as protein is concerned. The shakes I loved pre op but post op not so much. I did get some mix from GNC but it was horrible, so don't do that!! Most important after surgery is staying hydrated so whatever liquid you can tolerate will be your best friend. Once you get to smooshy (that is the technical term LOL) food then you have more flexibility.
  9. Hi RedCardinal, What kind of products are you looking for? After surgery while on the full liquid diet all I could tolerate was the Carnation instant Breakfast with skim milk, the Protein shakes did not agree with me, but everyone is different. Do you have your Vitamins already?

    Hi Boston Sleevers!

Hi All, I was sleeved on 11/28/12....also at MGH w/Dr. Meireles. I am down 43 lbs. so far and SO HAPPY! Still struggling getting the required amount of fluids in each day, but I'm working on it. How is everyone else doing?

How does this not slow down our metabolism?

From what I understand.....and I am no expert.....but after surgery (I am 7 weeks post op) your body will get the additional calories from the fat we have been storing. Once you level out then you will require more food in to maintain your own calorie intake. Immediately after surgery, however you have plenty of calories in your fat storage to sustain you.....the only focus really is on liquid to stay hydrated and some protein so your body will eat fat and not muscle.....hope this helps?!!?

    Sipping, Sipping....oh yeah, more Sipping!

Thanks for the suggestion....that's not a bad idea. I know it will improve, eventually. Right now it's just such a struggle!
  13. I feel like I am drowning myself!! I am starting to believe that getting in a full 64 ounces of fluid a day will be the end of me. Anyone else having this problem? I have been struggling with this since the begining. I finally bought a jug that is exactly 64 ounces.....I needed a visual aid of exactly what it is because all the cups and water bottles I have were different sizes and it was starting to confuse me. The jug arrived last nigh and OMG is this intimidating!! I know for sure I was not getting this amount of fluid in, not even close! I have been working on this jug now for 8 hours and I am only to half....half....UGH. Please someone HELP.....sincerely, drowning!
  14. Hi, I am from MA. Had my surgery on 11/28/12 @ Mass General. I am sure Mt. Aubrun will be great! I am only 7 weeks post op but happy to answer any questions you might have or just offer general support!! Where in MA are you? I live in Marlborough and work in Charlestown. There have to be more of us here!!

    Birth controL

I stopped them as well and was told by the hospital staff not to take them for 3 months. During my 2 weeks check up with my surgeon I was told that I could go back on them once my next cycle started. So I was only off them for a little over a month. My suggestion would be to talk with your surgeon and even your gynecologist, they may have better answers. I have had no complications so far with my birth control pills and I am 7 weeks post op.
