    Weight gain 3 weeks post-op?!?

It's so frustrating!! I feel like I went through the pain of the surgery, and I'm not getting results.

    Breastfeeding Post-Op

Wow I never realized that sharing my opinion or advice would result in so many rude & catty responses! I thought we were all on this forum to help each other and offer support and advice not be rude to each other. If you did not like my advice or my suggestion to you, you simply could have thanked me for offering it and moved on. You didn't have to be rude like you did as well as the other posters in this thread. As for the other people, my information is neither wrong nor outdated. I have been a nurse for nine years working in a pediatric department. All of my information is the most current and up-to-date. The only reason I suggested pumping and dumping to you, is because that is what I did. I was sleeved on December 10 and have a four month old. While other people might tell you it's okay to breast-feed while on narcotics, that is not something I personally would want to take a chance with. Whatever you decide, I hope it works well for you. I will make sure to never post on your threads again. Like I said, this forum is supposed to be about helping people, and sharing your advice and experience. It seems like you and the posters of this thread have turned it into attacking people you don't think are right in their answers. How sad.

You can pump now & freeze! Give ur little one the frozen milk & pump & dump right after surgery while u are on the pain meds. If you can get enough stored milk to get through surgery & the week after you should be good. The first week is clear liquids so your milk will have little nutritional value. If your child is 8 months old you should consider adding baby cereal & oatmeal to his diet. Once they reach about 4-5 months old they need more than just breast milk or formula. Whatever you decide, good luck!
  6. I think you should ask your doc for something.. My doc puts everyone on Protonix for a whole year after surgery.. Said that people who have the sleeve often get acid reflux very bad Hope you feel better soon!

    Pain...

I thought we weren't allowed ibuprofen? Can cause ulcers very quickly in WLS patients.. from what my surgeon said. I hope you feel better soon & it's nothing too serious! Xxx

Congrats everyone! You're all doing so great!!
  10. The original poster asked what people had to say.. So why when people give their opinion (Fishy) are they being criticized for it? :/

Hows your weight loss coming along?

I agree, but I think 9lbs was all the fluids they pumped in me at the hospital

    December Surgeries?

I was sleeved 12/10 & I'm miserable! I was supposed to be on full liquids but can't swallow them with out them feeling like they get stuck, so had to switch back to clear liquids. My main incision site hurts very bad & I honestly have had moments I've regretted doing this.. I hope I get to where others are soon because this is awful!

How much is too much pain?

Definitely better safe than sorry.. Thanks for your replies
  17. I was sleeved Monday 12/10 & went home the next day. I have been in so much pain it has brought tears to my eyes several times today. It's not gas pain, I believe I have finally walked all of that out. I'm not constipated, I finally went after 6 days. I feel like something is stuck in my lower chest or stomach. I am having a hard time even swallowing down my pudding & creamed soups because it feels like they get stuck. It hurts sooo bad. I have only been able to take a few sips of water & even that hurt. On top of that "stuck" pain, my main incision site is very painful & it hurts to really move around. I just want to know if either of these things are normal? How long does it take before the incision pain & pain inside goes away? Help! :'(
  18. I was sleeved 12/10 & swallowing 12/12. Didn't fill me up, & didn't make me sick. Just made my husband happy & sleepy. LOL

How much is too much pain?

I'm thinking maybe I should go back to clear liquids. I just got off them yesterday & that's kind of when I started feeling worse. I don't think I over do it, I try to rest as much as possible. I'm in so much pain that I have to use a cane to get up from seated positions & sometimes I even need the support when I'm walking around.

    Coughing up green mucus?

My doc warned me ahead of time about this. You need to take SLOW & LONG deep breaths in. Inhale as slow & deeply for as long as you can. My doc said to do this 10 times every hour while awake for the first week. It acts as a fan & drys out your lungs, preventing pneumonia.
  21. You are lucky! I'm on liquids for 2 weeks, then puréed for 3 weeks.. Then I hit soft foods. I can't wait for that.. I'm already sick of jello!

    Ouch!

So I'm 4 days post op.. Been home 3 days.. And I've been getting super sharp pains in my stomach & abdomen. They hurt so bad they take my breath away & nearly bring me to tears. Does anyone else have this problem? :'(

    Ouch!

    Thank you for your responses
  25. You should NOT take miralax! Or any other by mouth laxative. You should not put anything in your pouch that has not been preapproved by your doctor. The reason you are constipated is all of the pain meds you are on. I asked my doc & he said its normal to not go for 4-6 days after surgery. If it starts becoming bothersome you can use a suppository. Sold next to the laxatives, work in about 10-30 minutes. Don't put anything in your pouch you haven't talked to your doc about.
