  9. Hi everyone, I started my WLS journey a month ago and I have to admit , I'm terrified! So scared of not having a full stomach and how life will be after surgery. I'm 5'3 320 pounds . Suffering from GERD & Hiatal hernia. There's days I can control my GERD but times when everything I eat comes up or acid . In my mind the only way I can get this hernia thing done and lose the weight is going through with the WLS. At times I just want to get the hernia fixed on its own and try and see if I can lose the weight on my own.. It just terrifies me the fact that I won't have a normal stomach. Any advice?
  10. How do you guys feel about exercise after surgery?

    The beginning!

Oh wow. I've heard about H Pylori!! It's a horrible thing! I also heard its the biggest cause of stomach cancer. Wow I hope it's all gone now . How did you treat and does it go away for ever after treatment? Also , how did you find out you had H pylori? I had an endoscopy done August of 2011 and they only said I had a small hiatal hernia and to not eat before going. To sleep or have chocolate & fried foods! My endoscopy doc said he didn't see any reason to test me for the bacteria because my stomach was intact. I've just never felt well about him not Testing me. Anyway hopefully that's not what causes my bad reflux. They said it was Manley because I had the hernia.

    The beginning!

Omg! Thanks so much for all your advices . I wanted be honest. I would really like to try losing the weight on my own because (and i opologize ahead to anyone that has had the surgery I don't want to sound insulting) I want to feel normal but a part of me says I'm going to go through the yo to dieting and never really rich my goal meanwhile I'm still obese and in danger of (god forbid) getting a heart attack etc. it's just so overwhelming having to pick and not know what can happen afterwards. But I really do appreciate all your advices and congratulate those that have had the surgery and reached their goal and are living a new life! ❤

    Thanks so much everyone!
  23. So I had my first appointment with Dr. Choi at Montifiore Hospital on December 20th and I must say I felt real comfortable with her. She's a great surgeon and has great feed back. Only thing that really made me sad was when she asked me with surgery I was looking into to get. I said VSG of course! Lol and she said she Doesn't recommend VSG for anyone with really bad Acid Reflux and a Hiatal hernia which would be repaired but she said might return in about 5 years. Bummer!!!! I really was looking into vSG and now this whole thing puts everyone on to another path.. Has anyone had a hiatal hernia repaired and or acid reflux and has had VSG? I need some advice !! She says she Would be happy to do either surgery , but i just have to know that there would be a risk of my reflux returning and being much worse then before surgery.. That would put me on iron , calcium and antacid medicine for the rest of my life! Help!!!! Lol
