Doubting & super worried
christy38 replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes orientation was oct 26th of 2012 and my first appointment with surgeon was on dec 20th of 2012 now I have to start my 4 month weight management for insurance and I would say by August of this year I should have a surgery date or have had surgery. It's just all overwhelming and I can't and don't know what to do. Getting rid of a part of my body which I was born with is one of my biggest concerns and despite wanting to look and feel better I can't stop worrying .. Am I making the right decision? -
Doubting & super worried
christy38 replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 38 years old . 5'3 and 320 pounds. No I haven't really tried or committed myself to diet but I have changed the way I eat and eat lots more veggies , sweets here and there but even with that chance I see no weight loss , only get to lose 12 pounds then next month I'm back up 15 pounds . It's discouraging . I don't exercise much because I'm scared I might get a heart attack. I don't feel as strong as I did 7 years ago so I try to just change the way I eat but it doesn't seem to help. I mean I lose ten pounds but I'm up next month again. I also have this jiggly thing that happens from time to time and its something that feels very weird. It feels like gas but at the same time it feels like I'm out of breath from 2-3 seconds and I have to move a certain way to feel better . Do t know if its sow thing to do with my hernia and GERD cause at times it happens when I eat. Something or when I'm walking fast or out of breath. Sometimes it feels it happens and then I have a bowl movement. It's just weird and scares me at the same time. Will this happen after surgery ? Will this get fixed? Is it the hernia ? Is it not ? It's like I'm trapped! -

Ulcers where they separate the stomach
christy38 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Has anyone asked their doc if ulcers can be developed where they cut the stomach ? I'm assuming that tissue is very fragile and I'm worried about getting new ulcers & developing stomach cancer after. Just a thought. Trying to get all my doubts out in the light before I completely go for this surgery. Thanks -

Omg! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me. I'm so scared and confused about this whole surgery thing. My doc suggested maybe getting RNY due to my GERD and REFLUX but I'm not comfortable with the re-routing of my intestines and am trying my best to stay with VSG . At the same time every surgery has its risks and not knowing what may happen long term is still a worry for me. I'm jut worried all around lol. Never had surgery before . 38years old , 320 pounds and 5'3 . Hoping to reach my goal of at least 165 pounds. God help me make the right decision! -

Also, do you think that what we eat is the cause of all the excess acid in the stomach that cannot be controlled or only controlled with anti acids and does reducing the amount of greased food and food with a lot of acid in it help to reduce the amount of acid produced -

5'5" Women....what is your goal weight or size?
christy38 replied to VSGRachel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'3 and 320 pounds. Do you guys know how much weight I can lose with VSG and will I stop at some point losing weight? I would like to get to 165 -170 but it says VSG will only help me lose 100 pounds. I'm curious to know if I lose a hundred will the other 35-45 pounds come off with exercise or doesn't it just stop atom automatically at 100pds? -
Yay today makes a week ;-)

Any Montifiore Sleevers?
christy38 replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Blackmagi, what type of complications has Choi & camachos patients had? I have a friend of my mine that had surgery on oct 20th 2012 with choi and she's already lost 51 pounds , eats well and went to DR for a month in December and came back with no complications. The only things she's had is reflux and she's taking her pils for that. Other wise DR. Choi has a very good back round and experience In bariatric surgery. So please if you can explain what type of complications You've heard of them having.. Thanks -
Has anyone had a bad relationship after VSG? Has VSG been the cause of the problems or break up? I'm wondering because I feel their may be some changes in my 10 year relationship after VSG and I'm kinda worried. my boyfriend loves food ! And it's uncomfortable already not being able to eat the way he does or enjoy a bit here and there due to my reflux I have to watch everything I eat. I'm just wondering how its going to be after the surgery relationship wise. Thanks

Have you ever tried most the weight on your own? I've been thinking about that. I really haven't given myself an opportunity to lose it k. My own but then I'm terrified of exercising and making my heart work so hard to lose 100 pounds . It's such a big decision and even though you know what the decision should be (getting surgery) I can't stop worrying.. -

Any Montifiore Sleevers?
christy38 replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey! Welcome to VST and also Montifiore hospital! I attended the seminar on oct 26 and my first appointment with Dr. Choi was December 20th. the seminar was nice and quick! But a lot of Important info given. Everyone's favorite doctor seems to be Dr. Choi and also Dr. Camacho. I was a bit scared when I went to the first appointment with dr. Choi but I guess it's just the whole surgery thing has me worried , I mean every surgery should be taken serious but being that I've never had surgery for any reason makes me terrified! Lol but this forum has really made me feel much more comfortable with my decision. My doc advised me on maybe thinking about RNY due to my reflux but RNY just has too many malabsorption issues. To tell you the truth on still confused and scared of coming to a decision on which surgery to have because deep down I'm worried about getting rid of 85% of my stomach but I guess running around with 320 pounds should be more intimidating! ugh! Decisions ! Decisions! May god be with all of us! I have my foray weight management appointment January 30th so wish me luck and I wish u the same! Let me know how it goes!!! -
