Hey Bronx New York I Joined

  2. Hi! My question is , when going out to a restaurant what do you order? When your used to ordering a regular meal, like, steak mash veggies and bread. What would u eat ? Does it make you feel uncomfortable that your family can eat a normal size meal and u may not be able to eat a quarter of the plate they serve u?
  3. Why do people go to Mexico for surgery?

    Whats the difference?

Hey.. That's great and very happy for you. My insurance is CIGNA and 6 Months weight management is mandatory for approval. Sucks but at the same time it gives me time to really think things out , also giving a last chance to lose weight on my own because this is life changing and there's no going back. Scared of waking up and seeing a different me after almost 20 years of being overweight/obese . I'm seeing doctor Choi and montifiore and everyone tells me she's great. I have a co workers wife that had her surgery done by Choi back in October and has lost 75 pounds already. With no complications . The staff at montifiore are great. Live the hospital so clean just gives you a peaceful thing about it. A year ago I was trying to go to Lenox and saw dr Roseline which was al Rokers bariatric surgeon but something about him just didn't sit well with me so I decided to give montifiore a try and so far I haven't regretted anything . I have four more months of weight management and I believe after that they start the pre-op testing and submit to insurance . I believe maybe by the summer I should be done with the whole thing and living a new ME life! Lol I wish u the best in your journey and hopefully we meet each other some day at the hospital! Keep in touch
  5. Hey I just wanted to know when it would good to start exercising post-op . I want to work on toning certain parts of my body and want to make sure I don't wait too long and start sagging

    Whats the difference?

So what happens with follow up visits and nutricionist and or if there's a problem? Do you have to go back to Mexico for all that ?
  7. Anyone had issues with their vagus nerve & hiatal hernia and had VSGS?

    VSG & Vagus nerve

I've actually been suffering from some weird palpitations/fluttering for about 10+ years and it happens when I'm lying down or moving around quick and or eating certain foods. I was reading online and a lot seems to come from the hiatal hernia . Docs haven't been able to pin point where it comes from . I don't have heart problems (that I know of) but will make sure everything's checked before surgery. I just wanted to know if anyone has had similar symptoms and had VSGS. Just wondering
  9. What to expect at my weight management appt. curious anyone had one ?
  10. Yea all that is actually done after the 6 month weight management. Good luck!
  11. Hi!!! It went well . My nutricionist spoke to me about portioning what I eat and learning how to eat before and after surgery. She said its very important that I understand what I'm getting myself into because a lot of mess up after surgery because they don't learn to eat little and eat whole grains and lots of fruits and veggies . Basically asked me which surgery I was looking to get I said VSG. She also spoke to me about my eating habits how many times I eat this how many times I eat that. I was also weighed and got my blood pressure done . So I have 4 more visits before they submit to insurance . Ugh I wish this was over with , it's very overwhelming
  12. Has anyone had PH and had vertical sleeve? Just curious to know if anyone has had this and had VSG
  13. Never had surgery before but had 4 children all normal delivery . I'm terrified of what to expect before and after surgery!!
  14. HI!!! I'm on my way to the appointment right this minute. It just makes me feel like I'm gettin closer and closer to Surgery! Scary but here it goes!!! Lol

    Retest for H. Pylori?

What's the best way to get tested for h pylori? I had an endoscopy done August of 2011 and it only came back with GERD and a hiatal hernia. My gastro doc didn't feel it was necessary to pinch my stomach because it looked great like a normal stomach but I have acid reflux and hernia and he says my reflux is due to the hernia
  17. So scared of changes (ever if there good ones) . Scared of changing who I am. Am I the only one that thinks like this? I'm so used to being big that I'm scared of finally getting to meet the REAL me!
  18. Jesus Wednesday is my first weight management appointment and I'm feeling so confused. Scared as well. This is such a big decision and I can't help being scared and at the same time worried on the outcome but a part of me pictures myself looking slim and being able to enjoy life more after 21 years. I'm 38 a part of me wants this surgery so bad or maybe I just want to lose all this weight once and for all and I'm looking at the surgery as a miracle pill or something. I just know for a fact that with the surgery ill be who I've wanted to be physically for so long... Why can't I just do it! Ugh!!!! ????
  19. I'm in the beginning of WLS and my first weight management appointment is this Wednesday coming up at montifiore and I'm having second thoughts AgAIN!! I wanted to know which was better . I've never gone through a supervised diet with anyone and have been overweight and at around the same weight for the last 10 years. So I wanted to know if I should give myself a chance on losing weight on my own under a supervised diet and see if I lose 100 pounds but what should I do about my weight management at montifiore? Should I drop out and call them back for an appointment if my diet doesn't work out or should I do both?

    Retest for H. Pylori?

I guess everyone having VSG should get tested for h pylori before surgery. It's a must!
