Does the change in tastes ever resolve?
cataro replied to ladiJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed that it is the smells that turn me off now, much more so than the taste. Things that I thought were sorta stinky before, like tuna, pickles, etc., I am now completely repulsed by. I'm not sure if my tastes have changed concerning these foods as I cannot bring myself to try them. I actually had to go outside the other day when my hubby was eating a tuna sandwich, lol. -
Well poop

Has anyone tried taking prenatal vitamins? I am only a few weeks out from surgery but I am adding them back into my vitamin regime as soon as I am allowed to swallow capsules. The folic acid really helps my hair and nails normally, figured it couldn't hurt with loss.

My surgeon doesn't tell me anything....
cataro replied to smallbird's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 3 weeks post op and just moved on from liquids. I can have anything to eat as long as I am able to mash it with the back of my fork. The only thing I can't have is raw veggies, I have to be 8 weeks for that. I don't think your going to stretch you sleeve eating soft foods. -
Question about liquids! Please help!
cataro replied to teastarxox's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after, too. -
Omg! Gonna have to remember this as soon as I'm allowed a cocktail!

I actually live in Corpus Christi. My surgeon prefers the hospital in San Antonio so I went there for the actual surgery. He has an office in Corpus which is where I will go for support groups and stuff. Who was your surgeon in Houston? I had been on liquids until yesterday. I was getting my Protein in with my shakes, but wasn't eating much else, just trying to hit Water goal. Yesterday I was allowed to start on mushies, so first thing I did was have a spoonful of Peanut Butter. I felt so much better!!! This morning I had 1/2 an egg. I have much more energy now that I can up my caloric intake (but not to much lol)!

anyone had biotin for Hair loss
cataro replied to msreaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on Biotin, too. I just had my surgery so I haven't had hair loss yet. Any possible counter measures to hair loss I am willing to take tho! -
I bought some PB2 (they have it at amazon) to mix with my shakes. It makes it tolerable.

I agree with y'all on the artificial sweetener, highly processed food thing, I absolutely loathe using them! I NEVER used them preop, and I can't wait for my new tummy to be able to handle real food again. I do use stevia and truvia when I can find it, it is much better, and I think tastes better, than splenda/equal etc. I'm just going to have to grin and bear all the fake stuff for a while

I was sleeved 12/12/12 and still have very little energy. I can get stuff done, but I would much rather just go take a nap. I am getting most or all of my liquids in daily and about 60 g protein. I also had a hernia repair. I almost wish we were allowed coffee, I need a little pep in my step!

I can totally relate! In my head I was only a little overweight. I have also come to realize that I have no full length mirrors in my house that run vertically, hmmm.... Gonna have to change that.

What did you need after the sleeve?
cataro replied to JackieV's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes I used it on my stomach. I was given a "binder" for my abdomen at the hospital. It has made everything much more comfortable. I would ask for one or order one if need be. Some people on here have said they didn't like them, but I don't think I could have survived without it. -

This morning when taking my Vitamins I started sliming and felt as though I was going to throw up. Fortunately I didn't, but it kinda freaked me out. I am 3 weeks out and have not been nauseous once, even right after surgery, with the exception of this morning. I took my antacid and my Multivitamin with sips of crystal light, as I do every morning. Anyone have this happen to them, or have any advice? Sorry if this is a repeated post, nothing came up when I searched.

Sliming, nauseous after vitamins
cataro replied to cataro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are the chewable kind. I break the big ones in thirds and chew each piece individually. -
I'm an emotional mess, too. I cry over the dumbest things, and before this surgery it had been YEARS since I have cried. I'm pretty sure my hubby thinks aliens have come down and hijacked my body.

I'm pretty sure only gaining 1.5 lbs while being on a week long cruise is something only a VERY few people can say (I know I gained WAAAY more). So you enjoyed your vacation, good for you. Now that you are back home, you can start back on your routine. Don't beat yourself up, just move on and get back on track.

Sliming, nauseous after vitamins
cataro replied to cataro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Turns out it had nothing to do with the vitamins. Apparently now the smell of black eyed peas cooking makes me nauseous. Every time I went to the kitchen, I got sick. Asked my hubby to move the crockpot to the garage, and I haven't felt ill since. -
Sliming, nauseous after vitamins

It was just odd Bc I have been taking my vitamins regularly and nothing like this has happened before. It might have been just a one time thing and I'm freaking myself out for nothing. -
Happy New Year!

Gonna have to try that!
