I've been sleeved, but many complications followed.

Wow! What a horrible journey! So happy you are here to share it so we will all remember to speak up for ourselves. I had my surgery in February and my sister is considering having it now. I will share your story with her, so she knows just how quickly things can turn. I hope life improves quickly and drastically for you and your family. You are an inspiration! -
These all sound great! Does anyone know at what stage the wonton wrappers are approved? I assume soft food stage but wanted to confirm. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I was sleeved on February 4, also. Woke up in a lot of pain. It has gotten better since. It is a strange sensation, gurgling and pressure. The pain meds are super helpful at this point. I am so happy and a little envious of those who are not having any issues. I am on the way home now. Passed the leak test and have kept in all my fluids! Woohoo! Here we go!

Thanks firelle! I can't believe it's almost here! I am trying so hard to keep busy, busy and not think too much. Otherwise I will panic and freak myself out. I know I want AND NEED this so badly. himalaya62, 4my2boys and everyone else tomorrow and the rest of February GOOD LUCK AND CALM VIBES to you all! Happy dance all around!

I am using my civilian insurance, which has a $1800 co-pay. I started with the civilian doctor's office early last year. The insurance coordinator was 100% confident Tricare would cover the sleeve. Even after I spoke with them myself, she was adament they would cover it. Long story and much frustration later, (of course) Tricare still won't cover the VSG, only the band and RNY. I was going to go through DDEAMC (our MTF) when my husband transferred from AGR back to regular active duty. During the time lapse, I submitted my civilian insurance to see if it would cover and surprisingly, it did. We will be PCS'ing sometime this summer, so I didn't want to get through most of the pre-op for the MTF and have to start all over again at our next station, IF the new MTF performs it. After going through all of the pre-op hoops last year, I am just ready to move forward with it. We have had Tricare since 1996, I should have trusted my guy (no pun intended...) and known not to waste those months with trying to get it approved. If I had to start the whole process over, I would have known to go straight to DDEAMC and stay out of the civilian process. Hopefully it will all work out well. My doctor has a good reputation and I have less than a week now until I will be in surgery (8am next Monday!).

Hello everyone! I am Wendy, we are stationed at Fort Gordon. I am scheduled for next Monday, 4 February with civilian doctor. Tricare was insisting on Band or RNY. I don't want either of those. I am excited and scared. So glad to have found this group! One of my biggest concerns is PCS'ing somewhere and having problems without a good WLS around. Now I can run to you guys and get referrals, military wives know EVERYTHING!

Hi everyone! My surgery is next Monday (2/4/13) and I am already a nervous wreck! I have pre-ops tomorrow and suddenly forgot all my "important" questions for the doctors. UGH. I am ready (I have had 4 different dates, all changed due to insurance). I feel like I've read so much, good and bad, I know what to expect, as much as I can. I am SO glad this group is here! I wish you all the very best and through the fear, I can't WAIT to do this thing and be on the other side!
