Have you thought about throwing out your scale?
Tesla1979 replied to SoCalDixieGal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 3 months post op & I don't let the scales rule me!!!!! I don't even own scales. I weigh once a week at work. I tried weighing everyday but I would be up a lb then down a lb & I would start to get discouraged. I've found that if I wait & weigh once a week & I'm usually down more weight, and I'm much happier. Some people do great weighing everyday but I've found what works for me. Best of luck on finding out what works for you!!! Good luck on your journey!! -

October Sleevers - Let's Figure Out Average Weight Loss for Us Losers
Tesla1979 replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go fellow October sleeves. Highest weight 352lbs. Date of surgery 342lbs. Current 286lbs!!! Roughly 56lbs gone so far -
I've flown many times, long & short trips. Some info to help give you an idea, I was 5ft 6 in. & 360ish lbs last year when we took the trip from home (tn) to Hawaii. The long trips are rough because it gets kinda boring. When boarding the plane I would just ask the flight attendant for a seat belt extender. They were very nice & had no difficulty at all. Best of luck on your surgery & the flight!!!

5 months out, 75 lbs down!

Wow!!!! What a wonderful accomplishment!! Wishing you continued success on your journey!!! -
I have a jobs strict surgeon & nutritionist...so here goes what rules apply with them...I can only eat 3 times a day. No snacking!!! At each meal eat at least 20 grams of protein. Only after protein can I have certain approved veggies. Carbs are to come from veggies or small amounts of condiments only. No more than 5 grams of carbs per meal. 400-600 calories a day. I'm only 2 months out, 50lbs gone. One thing I've learned is that every surgeon has a different eating plan. Hope this gives you an idea or a place to start. Best of luck on your journey!!!

FMLA/time off question
Tesla1979 replied to blessedbeauty85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thx so much Ballermom!! -
I work in the medical field & unable to have my water sitting next to me to be sipping on all day per medical governing rules. Has anyone else come across similar situations at work? Just wondering how you get the fluids in without constantly sipping all day. Any info is greatly appreciated.

FMLA/time off question
Tesla1979 replied to blessedbeauty85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The dr office turned in the paperwork @2 months in advance. I think they just needed 1 month notice but I didn't want to put anything to chance. I had surgery on 10-29-12 & this was my first week back. Already 47lbs gone since surgery!!!! Best of luck to everyone on their journey!! -
FMLA/time off question
Tesla1979 replied to blessedbeauty85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgeons office filled out my FMLA. They just asked me how long I wanted to be off my response was, at least 6 weeks. (I'm an MRI tech in a hospital setting & it's very physically demanding) I didn't want to do any lifting on pts & tear anything, & I'm exposed to some very bad diseases & didn't want to be around any of that with open wounds. With all that being said, the dr office filled out my fmla paperwork for 8 weeks!!! It was great to have that time to concentrate on myself & healing, getting used to the new way of eating & all the fluids. If I worked at a less physically demanding job & no germs, I could've went back to work within 2 weeks easy. Best of luck on your journey!! -
Five things no one every told me how to deal with
Tesla1979 replied to janerose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Not sweating all the time & not waking up in the middle of the night with hot flashes!!!! As an obese person I was always sweating wayyyy too much....thankfully all that has gone away since surgery -
I lived off of the chocolate truffle & strawberry Nectar ones. I had to make sure that I had a really good shaker cup. Got one from wal mart that has the metal ball that you drop in so you can constantly mix it up without getting all the frothy stuff on the top. Good luck finding one that you enjoy

Horrible Cough & Congestion - What is safe to take?
Tesla1979 replied to bkz3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this exact thing happen only I was @3 weeks post opp!! My weight loss facility recommends Mucinex. No extended release. I found Mucinex severe congestion & cough, cough syrup at the local wal greens & used it for a week. (I couldn't face having to crush & taste the pill form). Much better now. Hope this helps -

I've had pcos for @15 yrs now and had periods like you are explains that would last for months!!!!! Ive been thru 3 D&C's with the most recent 2 months prior to wls. With the most recent one I had an iud placed to help. I was also becoming anemic from losing so much blood. Go to your obgyn. They are the experts in this area. Don't be like me & wait till u need a blood transfer.
