Question about getting in your fluids.
Tesla1979 replied to Tesla1979's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
We have a drink station @6feet away. I told my boss that normally that wouldn't be a problem but for me to get all the water in I usually have to take a sip at least every minute or 2. I'm an MRI tech & have to sit & stare a screen, set the next sequences up, monitor the pt, ect. And getting up to walk 6 feet every 2 minutes is almost impossible to do while doing my job. Just trying to get done ideas from others who may also have jobs that aren't accommodating to the new post surgery lifestyle. -
My husband felt guilty too. I only had a problem with him eating in front of me while I was on fluids only. Now that I can have food it's not a problem. I even love to cook for him again. For me it has gotten better with time & being able to have food of my own. Hope that helps

I think the normal stay time is 2-3 days & hospitals are weird, they count days by the number of nights you stay. I "think" Dr. Houston's surgeries are usually scheduled at least a month out. It all depends on what kind of hoops your insurance co requires. I lucked up. I had to have the surgery consult, psych eval, & nutritional eval..all for ins req. Dr. Houston just wanted me to lose as much weight as possible prior. My work was a pain in the butt about letting me have time off as well. All my pre surg apts were done June-July & surgery scheduled Oct. 29. -

He went in with intentions of keeping me longer than normal, because I live @2.5 hrs away...but...I was doing so great I went home early I went in on a Monday & was home on Wednesday. I work at a different hospital, but I would highly recommend the women's hospital at centennial over just about any other!! All of the people are wonderful!! -

Hello all!!! I live in the Cookeville area. Had sleeve surgery Oct 29, 2012. Dr. Hugh Houston at the Centenial Women's hospital. He is very abrupt but he did a wonderful job. No problems or difficulties so far!!!! Good luck to everyone on their journey -

Dr. Houston did my surgery Oct. 29, 2012. He is rather abrupt & not a very joking man. I work in the medical field & knew going in that most surgeons can have difficult attitudes. He was about what I expected. But my thoughts were, he can have any kind of attitude that he wants as long as he brings me out of it alive!! A little over a month out, 20+ lbs lost & no complications whatsoever. I would highly recommend him hope this helps. Good luck!!
