Another thought is the first few weeks of that couch to 5k program would be a great 20-30min warm up before a Bike ride. :-) JC
-
Deanna you crack me up! The challenge is to be fast enough to get him to BEG you to slow down! lol JC
-
Hey Deanna, he could coach you from a bike while you run. Just a thought! JC

There are some days I workout 6 times but for the most part I workout two to three times a day. Morning bike ride 15min heart rate 100 morning break at work 15 min walk around the block As soon as I leave work walk 4 miles in an hour the head to the gym for free weights. Night time at home watching tv 30min 60min or 90min stationary cycle. Weekends either long bicycle ride or kayaking. Some days absolutely nothing. Just completed week 1 of couch to 5k today!! Derbygirl, I walk 4miles right after work each day then most weekdays I lift weights at the gym, after that I usually head home and ride my stationary bike while clearing out my dvr, but sometimes a friend of mine calls and I end up walking another 4 miles. On the weekends I either kayak or bike ride on one of the rails to trails. I am thinking of getting a mountain bike and starting that in the mean time I did start my first day of couch to 5k training today. The rest of the tme I just sit on my lazy butt. Being a Florida cracker Gators have never been to much of a worry to me but water moccassins are another story. If you lived closer I would loan you one of my kayaks. Looks like you have had a good deal of weight loss yourself! JC -

Thanks Denise maybe they have been knocking and I just haven't been home. lol Karla, nice cruise photos did you say you were going to post more? That is one things I haven't done yet, but it is on my short list. 1. Kayak the Malecon on Vieques Island Puerto Rico 2. Kayak 100 miles through the Everglades 3. Scuba Dive Aircraft Carrier off Daytona Beach 4. Alaska kayak with the whales. 5. take a cruise to anywhere. Manatee, I don't think there are many landmines here. As long as you behave. lol Soonersis, "I aint scared" and I am sure there are more like me who appreciate strong independant women. Ash unfortunately you female types tend to out mature your male counterparts! I have 40+ year old friends who have to get mommy and daddy to help them pay bills! I don't get it. Bummed congrats on your upcoming surgery! Hey Chrispy sorry to hear about the IT guy, gives the rest of us IT guys a bad name! Also shows you what I know! SORRY. Hey Derbygirl, that is very cool. Where were you banded? Back to project 27 I will try to come out of my "cave" a little more often! JC -

Sunday morning weigh-in. I adopted a policy early on to have an "official" weigh-in on Sunday morning. I list this as my weight for everyday of that week. I found this gives me incentive to behave Friday and Saturday historically my worst two days of the week. This is my first Sunday since refill (last Tuesday) I down to 230 yee haw I sincerly apologize if that yee haw was offensive to my northern friends (couldn't help myself). Back to 15 lbs to GOALLLL!!!!!!!!!! I am going to jump on the Withlacoochee trail and try to burn off a few more. Hope Everyone is well, JC -
I have some before and after pics and some of the "Life" experiances I have had since weight loss, posted on my photobucket account. In the end you have to decided what will work for you, but for me this has been an awesome journey! JC str8jacket29 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Denise I'm sorry I wasn't clear the threads I don't really feel welcome on are on other forums. I do try to help on some of the excercise threads on this forum. They have been a little slow to warm up but they are getting there. I think it speaks more about how awesome all of you are than anything else. JC -
I have been kayaking the Chassahowitzka river, it is just north of Weeki Wachee. Checkout my photbucket albums for the latest pics. The Pinellas Trail album is from last weekend 40 mile bike ride. str8jacket29 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting If you or anyone else on the forum wants to be on my myspace friends list just send a quick message please reference lapband or lapband talk, there is so much spam out there! www.myspace.com/str8jacket29 JC

I can give you lots of suggestions most revolve around a single theme called patience which I unfortunatly have very little. Here are my top five: 1. Try to find a diet, eating plan, lifestyle change, whatever you want to call it (diet for me ) that works for you. I use a Weight Watchers type of diet. 2. Excercise will come with the extra energy if you desire it. I started out huffing and puffing around the JR. High School track. 3. Set goals short med long. one of mine was to walk 4miles in an hour I started with making it around the track then 1 mile then 2 ... after I reached 4 then I started working on speed. Now I walk 4 for a warm up, Can bike 100 miles in about 9hours, Kayak indefinetly. I think my metabolism is one fire! 4.Get used to putting more fluids in your body this is key for me. It helps keep me out of trouble I tend not to get as hungry when I am more hydrated. 5. Keep a positive attitude! If people around you are bombing you with negativity get away from them. If you start having self-doubt because something isn't working right hit these groups and call on your Dr. but don't give in to negative thoughts. Let us vetrans and your Dr. try to help before giving in! Did I mention stay positive? JC

Amen to the idiot comment. It is good that you have someone to ride with you, for safety and motivation. I noticed people who don't know me treat me as if I don't have a weight problem, however I see that I need to get rid of at least 15 maybe 20 more pounds. JC

Makes you wonder if there are any normal people out there! lol I stopped to get gas and propel on the way to the gym yesterday and this guy at the checkout was trying to find every excuse possible to tell the clerk he bought a house and blah blah blah.... I guess that juju you've got going is mixed one ju=good other ju=not so ... JC -
Hi Bad Girl congrats on your decision to get banded. I'm just to North in Pasco County. Hey Celestemcnair, you're less than a month away! How are things going for you? JC

Yeah comfort is the biggest factor I would say muscle isolatation is second. If you lean your weight into pedaling you are using less muscle and air energy, Isolation gives maximum effect for your workout. I know what you mean about traffic. We attract a lot of tour de france type trainers here because Pasco County is in Central Florida and has some of the biggest (only) hills in the state. I see people getting impatient with these trainers, they train on the roadways it is a real shame how people in cars treat them to say the least. I count myself lucky I have six trails close to me. The Withlacoochee trail is only three miles away. :-) Hows your bike riding going? Do you ride during the week? JC

I could use a good stalkin lol. It was Texas to Florida but that was a woman stalking woman. You are right about guys being stalked I will never forget that Fatal Attraction movie wow! -
Thanks, blushing! This is what I know recumbent bikes. I started riding on the Withlacoochee trail it is a 42 mile paved former railroad track. I was riding my old mountain bike. My weight caused a great deal of pain on the bone between my legs. My muscles would recover before the bone would. One day I was riding this torture device of mine and a group of riders passed me, they were some of the strangest bikes I had ever seen. Here is the bottom line: Every single one of these cyclists Everyone of them were SMILING!!! I decided to check these bikes out and bought two styles. I have completed 100, 80, 60, and 50 mile rides without any soreness of the butt bone. There is some pain I get when riding ,all I have to do is stop and stand-up for a few minutes and it goes away!!! Sorry I was so longwinded. Did I answer your question? JC

Thanks Chrispy, your right I am relieved and feel successful. I just got back from the gym. I sure hope I can keep up the intensity level of excercise with out the fear of overeating driving me. I see your point about creepiness, I guess you ladies have to think on a different wavelength than us guys. At least he is in Florida and not close by. Geez is it hot down here! Congrats Indiogirl bet your excited!???? JC
