    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I definately Bite D! I will keep you guys posted. J, you get the motivator of the week award. I headed out to the Withlacoochee trail today planning a moderate bike ride and I started thinking about the upcoming 40 miler, my surgery, and the long lapse since my last bike ride. I also had in the back of my evil little twisted mind that going to the end of this trail and back would be a cool thing as well. As I was preparing to take off this guy comes up and starts asking questions about the trail and such, then asks if he could ride with me. I said sure he asked how far are you going to ride I thought about your long 50+ and said 50-60 miles. I don't think he believed me at first. I took my newest two wheel recumbent bike. The bike I bought from my old bike riding pal. There is something wrong with my favorite bike. With this bike I was able to cruise 14-16 mph! WTF! My bike I had to break my ass to get 12. We rode on and hit a thunderstorm about 17 miles in so we found shelter and waited for it to pass. "Should we turn around" I was asked I said that we should be ok. By the time we reached 30 miles I had convinced my riding buddy that it would be very cool to make it to the end. Two miles later I ran off the trail busted my tail bone twisted one foot and got the other caught in the chain. It was great fun however the pain was,.... well, painful. What should I do now? Well the decision had been made to make it to the end so I had no doubt that I would keep going. One more mile and my riding buddy's rear wheel starts to wobble. I asked him if he wanted to turn around he said no we could take a look at it when we get to the end! How cool was that? Me finding a riding buddy that is insane ad all. We finally made it to the end and I had to take my shoes and socks off to try and let them dry out a bit from the rain. Checkout the wheel and half the spokes are loose. I did my best to tighten without warping the rim too bad and off we went into one of the worst thunderstorms I have encountered on a bike. There was even a touch of hail. I told my buddy I think we should seek shelter, amazingly he areed. The storm passed and off we went again. about 50 miles into this thing his wheel started acting up again. The same pesky spokes were loose again. I tightened them up but the wheel was so warped it was rubbing on the brake pads. I fixed that by loosening the brake cable enough to do away with the rub and his rear brake. Aint I cool? 72 miles in and the tire was rubbing on the frame, my back was aching bad as well. Loose spokes again, what a mess. I told him look you only have to fight it for another 8 miles to get back to your vehicle however if you could punch out an extra 6 you will have ridden from end to end. He considered it until he saw his vehicle. So we only got in 80 Miles instead of 92! J, I used your awesome numbers as inspiration the whole way! Thanks! J Busted Tail Bone Ass C

Manatee, dude, first of all congrats on the weight loss! The 8525 runs Windows CE, it has IPSEC and there are vnc clients. Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

J, I have never sought the counseling route although I should. I think considering the fact that I have been overweight almost all my life, alot of the problem started when I was about a year and a half old, that's when I lost my Mom, followed closely by my Grand mother and my oldest sister's boyfriend. I could continue but it is too depressing. I will have to deal with that stuff one day, I am just not sure when. :-( BG, Great pics! I think I saw a spark of that "BG" Attitude in one of the pics. I can aslo see why you were missing ODB. JC

LOL... JC is way to busy to worry about BG's girly parts D.... Did you get your ride in??? In response to the above referenced quote........, First of all HP, I never thought you would be the first one taken to the woodshed. I guess it was because I was busy with work. I am never too busy to worry about girlie parts. In fact I find it (HARD) to focuss on work because I constantly worry about girlie parts! LOL BG r u ok? JC (Concerned)

HP, I will respond to that last comment in the Woodshed. B, way to go on the 30 minutes! That's no small (feet) feat! D, I feel ya on the food I am so nervous about next week that I have an apetite..... well I could eat a bunch! HP I hope that truck gets better soon. Hey was that pic your idea of (FRIED) Chicken? Just askin. J, you must be amping up for this weekend's ride. BG, are sure your not an IT person? Like the new name for the bike! Lotto comment is a good intro to a question: If you had unlimited resources to purchase one bike, which one would you choose. Since my EX claims that when it comes to life, all I am concerned about is myself ("It's all about you isn't it?") Most often heard question in the OLD Grove household. I am gonna tell all. Work had me down for the count. Then a break through approx. 30-45 mins ago! Task completed just in time for the weekend! Then forecaster says RAIN!!! I however have something that sets me apart from the rest of the world. Brahma Bull DNA in my genetic makeup. I even have the little hump on the back of my neck to prove it. What the heck does this mean you ask, I will tell you. I am going to do some long ass rides yes rides this weekend. I will test out my hammock tent and even post an update from inside it hanging from a tree. I am not going to let the weather, the loss of my truck or anything stop me. One of the driving forces is that I ate like a sloppy old pig today I BENT to my hunger in a way I haven't since being banded. This may be my new reality after surgery and it is blowing me apart mentally. JC (One freaked out Dude)

I couldn't help but notice some of you, ..... Myself excluded of course, tend to have a dark side about you. LOL In response to this I have created an area for all of (YOU) sickos! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f80/woodshed-40490/ This message is of course riddled with sarcasm but the thread is real! B, you know it's just all about the competition. I am pulling for ya to get that off-bike moniker changed! As for Buddy he is really doing well, thanks. The ex stopped by last night to pick up John and asked if Bud was going home with her. I told her he probably should stay with me at least until his follow-up appointment. I gave him a big ol hug this morning, I love that dog. JC

Morning update, Day Two: They actually want me to be productive again today! WTF! (Those Bastages). So you get the drift of my work life. They schedule a rollout on the verge on a three day weekend. Can you guess who may have to work this weekend finishing up! = NO Bicycle for me, it figures, the Beast (my Blazer) is still on the operating table :-( Such is my life! J, it's not a sports bra but I did purchase some tighter fitting athletic shirts, this seemed to solve the runner's nipple issue. D, I hope that stress level is better today (Big Stress Bustin Hug) HP, The dreaded road bike bug, how bout that! I bought mine used from LBS 600.00 I didn't want to invest more not knowing if I would really be able to lose the weight. B, you are going to turn in a 30 miler report this afternoon right? I mean the Doc gave you a green light and all! BTW how's Grumpy? BG, are you trying to tell us you can't cook a pop-tart! I have visions of you and HP knocking out some Awesome campout... no maybe campfire food!!! mcondjel, welcome to the insanity! A1A, gotta love the East coast, Which area are you in? I live in the cow pasture between Tampa and Orlando. We need to shorten your name pick a couple initials or we will pick on you! J/K LOL JC

    A thread for Single Bandsters

I love this thing I can either use it for surfing or if I want to use the laptop, I can use this as a modem which I am doing right now. The good news is I can even somewhat manage my computer network while away from the office. I have dreams of forwarding my office phone to my other cell and handling tech support calls while fishing out in the Gulf and nobody really knowing the difference. :-) JC
