Bananas in protein shake?
Quickly replied to courtoomp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say if your counting your carbs then just add it to your count!! Banana's are higher in carbs but do still have lots of good benefits in them too. Enjoy (love banana's too!) -
No NSAIDS which is ibuprofen and naprosyn (advil or aleve). Why?? It thins the blood and is known to cause GI bleeds related to ulcers. Stick to tylenol or as your MD recommends. Some suggest if you must take with antacid or PPI.

File FMLA papers. You never know how long you will need. As far as, vacation.. that depends on how your time off is paid. I took 4 weeks off. I thought I could take just 2 weeks, boy... was I wrong!! Way to weak, plus you got to stay hydrated and get used to your new way of eating!! Good luck -
Thanks for all the suggestions!!

Congrats on your surgery! It gets better every day!! Good luck

I, for the first time since surgery, felt hungry most of the day. I am still on a full liquid diet and desire real food!! I have 3 more weeks before pureed!! Going silly!!!
-
Good luck...

When you start feeling better is when it gets hard!! I am taking in fluids very well! Its feels like an eternity until I can chew again. I have not chewed food since Dec. 25th.. I will not again until March. No wonder there is weight loss! Hard to cope with... I know its all for a good reason, but loaded with WILL!!

I know!! Seems crazy... I feel like my body needs eggs or cheese. Most full liquids are sweet. I am done with sweets... ugh! I really do not understand why 6 weeks of liquids either?? Maybe, to aid in weight loss?? I have to follow Dr's order's, but oh my!! Regular diet starts first week in March. Can not get here fast enough.

I wanted to go back after 2 weeks, but way to weak!! Had a bad dizzy spell on Monday! Drank water chewed my vitamin and laid down. I think I am going to just adjust to my lifestyle and and return in 4 weeks. I work in SDS and Pain clinic very busy and demanding. -
Tired easily... I have not returned to work yet!! Still sore and weak.

Anyone have this random sharp, burning, stabbing like pain at the puncture site right of the belly button. (I believe its the one they removed stomach from). It happens usually at night and brings tears to my eyes. Only last for like 30 minutes. Happened last 3 nights. Wakes me up! I don't know if I roll on it or not!!!
-
Thanks Meg!!
-
Ok, so I am not alone with this!! Hoping it goes away!! Probably just healing and shifting inside. But, when it happens it reminds me of the surgery for sure!! I also can feel like a knot at the site too..
-
Oh... I know the feeling!! Scared and anxious. I had mine also Jan 8!! Anesthesia is great. You will do fine. Just ask for pain meds!! They help so much and expect gas pain and tenderness!! Morphine works on it well!! I threw up the first night and it was not that bad.. they have medicine for that!! It will be over before ya know it, remember to take walks and pass gas.. small frequent sips! Good Luck and you will be soooo glad you did it!!

what can you eat, and what you cant eat
Quickly replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are lucky, I am 2 weeks out and my Doctor has me on full liquids for 4 more weeks, then pureed for 1 week, soft the next week then regular. I will not be able to eat regular food until March!! I am craving PIZZZZZA!! I am thinking if you are 15 days post, your sleeve still maybe swollen. Give it more time, you should be able to eat peperoni again. Oh and it sounds like bbq sauce may caused that dumping syndrome. They say gastric-bypass has that, but rare cases sleeves do too .. how embarrassing, I hope you were at home when it happened!! -
Wishing for energy!! I have a dull heavy headache in the mornings. Just about every other day I have extreme fatigue!! I drink at least 64 oz of water and taking in apx 50-70 gm of protein. I am so bored with full liquids need new recipes.. exciting news is I am 25lbs!!
-
I know.. the protein powder taste like soy baby formula. Although, today I went to starbucks and got a strawberry smoothie with protein and it was great!! I could only eat maybe a 1/4 cup of it..
-
Yes.. I am toooo tired of yougart/shakes/ cream soup... not that I am hungry, I wanna chew/chomp!! And yes... gonna be a great summer ... hopefully, my 3rd week I will gain energy and lose more weight!! Yipeeeeee
