How do you know if someone likes you?
SeriouslyChange replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in The Gals' Room
I think he's going to go to my company's party this week. I asked him and he said no, and I said I was and he said he'd see, maybe he'd go. I just don't want to push it and ask to hang out and then he would say something like "eww." He's polite so I doubt he'd say it like that but I don't want to deal with the rejection. Plus he's talking to another girl at my work as well. But according to my friends, he's not nearly as touchy and chatty with her as he is with me. I guess I'll just wait and see how it goes. He seems like a nice guy so hopefully I'm not making a mistake by just waiting. -
I stopped taking it 3 months pre op. supposedly it's to reduce the chance of a blood clot but those stupid heparin shots pretty much did it for me. I was told to use condoms for 3 months post op as well and then start on it again. Guess every surgeons different.

I gotta give up gum too?
SeriouslyChange replied to JenMac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The gum thing is because chewing it allows you to swallow a lot of air and it would hurt. It is also because you might swallow it. I told my NUT pre-op: but what if I don't swallow it? And she said: you should just give it up or switch to mints. -
Any South San Francisco Kaiser Sleevers
SeriouslyChange replied to cher's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm doing great and I still say Dr. Li is awesome! I cried a lot... And he remained positive throughout. I haven't had any problems, I think he did a great job. I'm well on my way, I was down about 30 pounds at 4 weeks. I did send him a freaked out email because I thought I had a leak, but then sent another one because I realized I pulled a muscle in my shoulder and he didn't mind. He's been awesome to work with, Guisellle his nurse is awesome as well. He'll come in the next post op and let you know if you can go home or not, I spent 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital. I was nauseous. Keep me posted on your progress, and I hope all goes well for you! Milk of magnesia sucks! But it will for sure clean you out. And don't forget to use the wipes! -
Recovery for plastics
SeriouslyChange replied to VSGRachel's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Surgeons don't recommend these until around 2 years post op as that's when your weight would stabilize. -
The best I've seen is pure protein. 32g protein @ 160 calories. Isopure isn't too bad either but I haven't tried it.

considering vsg surgery and have some questions.

Exercise helps. I saw a plastic surgeon for a different thing and Asked him his opinion on my likely hood to have loose skin and he said age, skin elasticity, genetics all are factors. -
Anyone know the signs of a leak
SeriouslyChange replied to Breeg89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fever is never a good sign. Go to emergency if you can't see anyone right now Symptoms of a sleeve leak include pain in the abdomen that gets worse rather than better, swelling in the stomach, pain in the left shoulder or chest, dizziness, fever, infection and the appearance of sickness. -
I had my sleeve done 11/26, I'm 23 and I am working at a health food store while I get through school. Times have been tough, but this is the best decision I've made. I am 5 weeks post op and will admit I had some vodka on New Years Eve. I had a half shot and boy, i felt it go down, and it hit me about 5 minutes later. I chased with water and lime. I was honestly shocked. I could drink 1/2 to 3/4 gallon of straight vodka pre op. and that would have me sh*t faced, I'll just act like a dumb*ss and pass out on this bed, drunk. That half shot burned which made me not go back for the other half, and the fact that I was so tipsy from it kind of freaked me out. If I had knocked back that whole shot, I would have been slurring and stumbling around most likely. Everyone has different reactions, but like everything, the key is moderation.

My husband is an ass
SeriouslyChange replied to Rileysmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My SO tends to eat fast food, creamy pastas, deep fried Desserts, all right in front of me. Stupid 160 pound person who never gains a pound even if he stuffs his face all month long lol. But, he is stricter with the food than I am. I tend to smell food if I'm hungry, it helps me a bit, but if I tell him, "I think I want a small taste of this hash brown" he'll bolt with the food and either toss it or finish it else where. His response, "no, you know you shouldn't" I stayed with my parents for 2 weeks post op. 3rd day, family comes home and eats Popeyes chicken. I'm on the couch sipping my miso broth and all I hear is "crunch crunch crunch" I was just like wtf.... In my head. It'll get better, and like others have said, watching people eat will start to gross you out -

Hating Myself & Afraid Less than 6 Weeks Out...Long Post...Needing Support
SeriouslyChange replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
DeeDee, My heart goes out to you, and please know that you are not alone. My surgeon also has us on an extremely strict diet plan, and I feel like I'm a failure because at 5 weeks, Water is still a huge issue for me. I ate more often than my allowed 3 meals a day for Christmas, and find myself hungry a lot more now. I just had my period and stalled out as well. I find myself getting depressed from all the posts I see "2 months out and x number of pounds down" with pictures. I look at myself and think, I'll never hit that much at 2 months, at 3 months, at 6 months. Something that really hit me yesterday: my first weight goal was to lose 25 pounds and hit 275. I've been so stuck on how much of a failure I am that I never took the time to Celebrate the 25 I lost when I hit 275. Instead of looking at it from a "I have so much to lose" think of it from a "I have lost so much" I haven't been under 275 in years. My clothes haven't fit this way in a while, and it's sad because I'll need new clothes soon. Celebrate the small victories. Pre-sleeve, how long would it take you to lose those 31 pounds? Speak with your NUT and a psych. They would be able to better help you with these issues. But congratulations on the weight loss so far you are pounds closer to goal -
Hey! Does anyone have a PCP who is use to dealing with Bariatric patients? It's a long story, but I am now looking for a new doctor.

I'm about a month out and I'm getting **** from a few friends. I'm a lot more confident I guess? : ) I know I am looking amazing, lol, and I guess the change from shy and quiet to confident quiet makes people uncomfortable. It's your life. Be happy : )

Frequently Asked Questions
SeriouslyChange replied to Lilee84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is good information, but a lot of it goes against the plans my surgeon has. Example: I don't drink Isopure Protein. Never have even tried it and my surgeon had no restriction in type of protein. Good FAQ, just not for everyone -
5 months im happy 58 pounts gone
SeriouslyChange replied to gissell's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! 5 months! Do you go to the gym often? I am trying to get the most advice so that hopefully by 6 months I'll look great too. -
Wow, okay. I was debating whether or not I want to drink at my company party mid January. At the same time, with such little room, I need a drink that packs a punch! Lol. Still trying to figure it out. I have been known in the past to drink about a half to 3/4 a gallon of vodka on a crazy night. Not often, one night every 3-4 months. So this should be interesting lol. Hopefully I don't get crazy drunk off a shot. That would be... Interesting
