Confused over Sugar Free
TxDumplin replied to Cherry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have a whole bunch of swelling too.. I mean it literally looks like i have a basketball in my stomach....LOL. That is awesome you've lost that much so quickly. I bet you are on cloud 9 and doing happy dances!!!! I put my scale up and will not weigh again till i go back to the Dr. on Monday. The weight has no choice but to come off after what we just put our bodies through. Keep up the great work Dorian and to all the others who just had surgery. As far as sugar goes....I will not dare take a chance on putting something in my mouth that is not sugar free this early out. Too much good stuff out there with splenda. I do drink skim milk and doing ok with it...but other than that i'm too scared of dumping and don't want to experience that just yet -

Hi There....My surgery was April 22....released to go home that Thursday and was back in the hospital for emergency surgery early Saturday morning. I developed a hernia through one of the larger incision sites. I could not even eat a ice chip or take a tiny sip of water without having bad abdomen and back pain for hours until it could pass through. What does your pain feel like...is it constant after you eat or drink anything? If you feel like your Drs office is not listening to you or taking you serious....i would go to the ER and have them run test. My hernia was not visable in xray....but showed up in a Cat Scan. Good Luck and hope you get some relief soon. xoxoxo -

My surgery weight was 196 and now 9 days later i'm 202. I still have not got rid of all the fluids they pumped into me. Very discouraging...but I know it will happen with time. -

Dorian, i had a very rare situation happen. It was a incarcerated incisional hernia. They went in and repaired it and and put a screen across the hole so it would not happen again. After i got home from my bypass surgery i could not even eat a ice chip without having severe abdominal and back pain. The intestine was kinked off so nothing could pass through. Was back in the ER early Saturday moring and emergency surgery was done. They gave me morphine so pain was much better while i was getting prepped for the second surgery. Oh yes, really bad left side pain here too. So glad you are doing good. I have not lost anything, actually gained 8 pounds from all the fluids and my belly is so swollen. Each day will get better for all of us April post op's....WE DID IT....YIPEEEE!!!!...now on to a healthier life. Can't wait to be 6 months out!!! -

Hey all you post-ops....I'm back. I had surgery Monday April 22 and had a complication that required a second surgery Saturday. I'm back home and doing better. Sore as hell but i'm sure each day will get better. I can start milky protein today so excited about that. Hubs is out getting me some skim milk. Never ever thought I would be this excited about "skim milk"...LOL. Hope everyone is doing good and getting to know their pouches without any problems. God Bless. -
Good Luck and prayers to you KellBell....yep, i don't think we are going to get much sleep tonight!

About to head out to my pre-op appt with my surgeon with list of questions in hand. I'm curious to know what my metabolic test said. Start pre-op diet tomorrow...surgery is Monday! Can't believe it's so close!!!

Lots of activity and I've missed so much of the great news on here. I want to congratulate the ones who have had their surgeries the last few days...and all the ones who finally got a surgery date. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am Monday morning. Surgery is at 7:30. I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing being the first patient on a Monday morning?

I got some calcium citrate chewables and will have to do 4 of them a day....they are so gross! I came across UPCAL D powder that you can mix in with shakes or soups. They claim it's flavorless. Has anyone tried this? Here's the website for it. Would love to hear any thoughts on it. Thanks http://www.procarenow.com/UPCAL-D-Powdered-Calcium-20-oz-can_p_10055.html
