GAINING weight first week post-op? What's happening?
mattsbelly replied to Jessica Santos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dont worry about numbers. I know thats easier said than done. You should start to notice clothes getting baggier and moving around is easier. The scale will go up and down. If you have a $hitty scale it may depend how you stand on it. They weight will come off. Stick to your nutritionists plan. -
Who cares if there are women on this thread. Maybe they were hoping for pictures.

thats really weird. What does your doctor have to say about that?

What was your start weight? Are you working out?

I used Virtua and did not have to pay anything upfront.

Any one lifting weights to bulk? My weight hasn't changed in 3 months despite my killer workouts. Wondering if I am putting on muscle and losing weight. If anyone has experience please let me know.

Good tip on the body fat. I just want to see the scale move.

Is it possible to stall at 10 days out?
mattsbelly replied to Bombs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't weigh yourself daily. Your body weight will change daily depending on time of day, water weight etc. I weigh myself once a week on the same day at the same time. -
Well with all your heathen activities I don't blame you guys.

What about cottage cheese? Or chicken noodle soup blended up?

Ready to hit the gym
mattsbelly replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd stay away from classes and anything crazy. Stick to the treadmill or bike. Anything else will require to much use of your abs. They need the time to heal. My doc wanted me to hit two miles a day. -
How do you not cheat on your pre op diet?
mattsbelly replied to acubi2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a letter in the mail from my doctor saying to start in x date. X date happened to be the next day. At that point I wanted the surgery so bad I didn't care. I did eat a meal after about 7 days but I still had 7 days to go. Only the first few are tough. Once you get used to not eating, which takes a few days, it's no big deal. After the surgery it's even easier not to eat. -
Ready to hit the gym
mattsbelly replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
He cleared you for the gym but not to lift any weights right? I couldn't lift anything heavy for 4 weeks. Then because of my job he wouldn't clear me for full duty for another 3 after that. -

Whats it like being under and waking up from surgery?
mattsbelly replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Waking up sucked. There were like 5 thousand people moving me hooking me up to things, trying to get me to talk. Imagine waking up and everyone is going a thousand miles an hour and you're going 2 I remember being wheeled down the hallway and the nurse squeezing something into my IV and saying your going to feel really good in a minute. I said back "I'm staring to feel great" next thing I know I'm being woken up. -
I am a side sleeper. I put a pillow under my belly and was able to sleep on my side without a problem.

Clothing expenses after surgery
mattsbelly replied to linda305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you went up in weight you should have those clothes. Otherwise target is a good place to buy inexpensive clothes. I have smaller clothes but shop at target if I need something. No brand names yet. -
Welcome to the other side!!

You can't lift anything heavy for 6 weeks or so. The incisions never really hurt. You'll be in a little discomfort for a few days, but it gets better each day.

Did surgery clear your sleep apnea?
mattsbelly replied to Startfresh359's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my wife mine is gone. -
First picture is from August of 2012 when I decided to have the surgery. I was at my biggest at 406. The second picture is from Saturday after my sons football game, almost 6 months to the day from my surgery(3/4/13). I weighed in at 287. My wife was tired of hearing me complain that I didn't think I lost a lot of weight. Now I see it.
