    any new orleans ladies?

Hi again, I haven't been on since before Christmas, I am from the Jacksonville, FL area, I have to wait so long because of Medicare rules and it will probably take that long to get the sleep study, with the machine, I already had the first one, doc approval for the cardiac part and I have to do 3 classes on three different subjects, Medicare requirement also, but I am just happy they have approved it. when I checked into it at the first of the year it was not approved and then they called me back and told me that they had approved it. Good luck on everyone finding a buddy. I went in the chat room the other day and early in the morning and had a nice chat. I am finding the site to be so informative and the people are so helful.
  3. Hi, I am pre-sleeve too. I may be a little ahead of you, from down south, Jacksonville, FL area. Have to get the sleep test with the machine, blood work and get a cardiac approval, do my classes and I'll be ready probably around end of March 1st of April. Hang around, you will get lots of info, it has made me feel better.

    Out of Control

Thanks for the tip. I am going to use the WW site to log my food, because I bought this great exercise monitor that can even be worn in the water. I blew out my knee and cannot do it right now and other things which has caused me to look into this surgery. I have to pay for on line WW to get my monitor managed and it really does give you incentive to exercise. So, now I have the plan they want me to use before the surgery and I am feeling more comfortable with things I plan to start logging again when I start the classes in January. I may start before then but I don't want to overwhelm myself, ya know. I looked at your pictures. You are doing great, you must be so pleased.

    Out of Control

Has anyone experienced an out of control response to making the decision to have the surgery? Of course this time of year is not helping, sugar everywhere, carbs everywhere and I just don't seem to have any control. I have got to break this cycle. The surgery cannot be scheduled until April, Medicare rules. Any suggestions in getting a control over my eating in these three months.I know it is emotional eating. Those that had to do classes for three months, did they help you get a handle on eating and prepare you well for the surgery? Thanks.

    Low bmi updates

I was so glad to read that the surgery has helped you knee pain. I have back pain and now added to that is knee pain, also facing surgery if I do not get this weight off. Lots other signs, blood sugar and cholesterol creeping up, still normal but I can see what is happening. Great encouragement, thanks.

    Anyone from Jacksonville, FL area

So great to meet you, I met someone at my Doc's office the other day and she is on here. I know what you mean about it going fast, by the time I get everything done it will be here in a blink. I am 65 now and time is really flying. Do you go to support meetings. I don't know if I will be able to at first. They are at night and with my back pain, I am kind of done by 5pm and they are at 6 pm, I am so hoping the pain will get better.

    Out of Control

Sorry it took so long to get back here, non-stop docs. I thank you for your responses, I think I was having a food funeral, I like that. I met with the psychologist and nutritionist and I am feeling better about things. She suggested some things to try even now. One of the things she recommended was a little plate at Walmart that has sections for the veggies, protein, fruits, and carbs, it is cute and in the baby secftion. I also right besided them found some little microwave safe plates, no dividers. I can use them now and even later. The little one without the dividers might hold a half a sandwich and whatever side you would want, but the serving would have to be reeeeaaaal small. LOL Again thanks. I also chatted with some ladies Friday and really enjoyed that. I wanted to get back on today but was not able. Trying to get caught up with my topics. Thanks so much again.

    Fears

I am not experienced with the hair loss, but I did want to tell you I am also about 3 months out for surgery also. I will meet with the nutritionist on the 19th and the psychologist the same day, the classes begin in Januray and surgery will be scheduled in April. I do know the weight is causing so many problems now that I must do something. Like you I have some worries but the risks of being this heavy are worse.

April surgery, what to do now?

Lorraine, I would like a copy of the carb information. Thanks so much.
  13. Hi, I met with my surgeon Dec. 11th, if all goes well, surgery in April. I really need some help now before the classes start in January and support while in the classes. Is there a group waiting for surgery that are trying to get a head start on eating the right foods and the right way. From what I am seeing, I need to get off caffeine. I was going to start there, Right now with the holidays, sugar is an issue. I am having some knee issues, will get gel injection today and then I would like to get back to my water exercise. I would appreciate any help you could give me as to what type of things I need to do to get ready. I know I will learn more when I meet with the nutritionist on the 19th but that seems like forever. I really want this to work. Thanks again.
  14. Hi I have been reading the pre-op post and find them very supportive and informative. Thank you. I have met with the registration people and will meet with the surgeon and see the nutritionist and the psychologist right after that. I do not know when the 3 month classes will begin. I am looking forward to starting them and getting on with the things I need to do. Is this where most of the pre-op people hang out or is there any other threads I should follow? I am so thankful to have found this site, I think it is going to be very helpful. I have not finished filling out the profile yet because I have not been approved yet. I will do that as soon as I am approved. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. I am 65 and so I will be a Medicare patient and have to follow their guidelines. I have not had many health problems in the past with my weight and now it is beginning to take a toll on my health. I have tried everything and I am so praying this will work. My major health issue is my back, I had scoliosis surgery at age 45, very severe curve not found until I was 28. Post op pain is pretty bad. I know weight loss will help that. Lately I have developed some heart issues and had an ablation. My blood sugar is not that high, I run 107 most mornings I check it, cut that is higher than it used to be and my triglicerides and cholesterol, while still within normal limits, have gone up to borderline. KWIM So....I can see the writing on the wall. One major question I have is ...does this help emotional eaters, that is one of my major problems, lots of stress in my life and I know I medicate with food. I appreciate any answers you can give me. Is there a thread that is good for emotional eaters to follow? Thank you again so much, Grannygoes4it
