is there coffee in my future?

I loved my coffee in the morning too. 2 big cups got me going everyday. After surgery it didnt sit well in my new stomach, so I left it alone until I hit the 3 month mark and then it was fine. But I can only drink one cup now. Love the new teeny tummy!

How many of you have lost hair?

my hair is naturally thin and fine, so I worried about losing after the surgery. Sure enough its falling out alot! I can see my scalp because the hair is so thin now. Ugh. I noticed it started about a month ago so Im hoping it will start coming back soon, before I'm completely bald.
  3. I was like that the first week, I dreamt about the chicken salad sandwich from Chik Fil a. Obsessively. Week two was much much better.

    Question!

Is there milk product in the protein shake mix ( the powder) ? You may need to try a different brand if your new stomach rejects this one.

    Question!

I'm 13 days post op, but from the beginning I didn't have problems with shakes or diarrhea. Are you mixing your shakes with milk? I wonder if its lactose intolerance. It might be worth it to try mixing w Water. Just a suggestion. Can you keep water down?
  6. I cant imagine why a doctor would refuse to do a sleeve if you have reflux? The majority of people who have the sleeve also had hernia repair at the same time. Reflux is a fact of life before the surgery. In any case, OP please do not take medical advise from any of us. Its actually dangerous to do so, none of us are doctors. Please see your doctor ASAP.
  7. I had that happen to me a few times before the sleeve surgery, it was a hiatal hernia. My surgeon repaired the hernia when I was sleeved. Ive had no reflux since then. Please see your doctor as soon as you can. If its a hernia it can be fixed.
  8. No regrets. I've been dieting all my damn life. Lost the weight, gained it back...Ground Hog Day. As I got older it was harder to get it off, and when I crossed the 200lb threshold I developed sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I tried for another 5 yrs to get my weight under control. Sleep deprived and depressed, I weighed 220 when I finally made the decision for surgery. I'm down to 196lbs in since 1/8/13. I'm religious about following my doctors instructions and having good results. Not hungry AT ALL. It was the right choice me, you have to decide if it's the right thing for you. I did have a few fleeting moments of doubt, before the surgery - but not after.

    vitamin crisis!

Thanks for the info about vitafusion at costco, I'm going to check them out. For me the Flinstone gummies multiple and Naturemade Vitamin C gummies for adults are working out great. My labs came back with everything in normal range, except vit D. So I take a chewy chocolate vit D now. ( I'm over 50 so menopause is a factor ) I have to wonder if some docs and nuts are recommending against gummies because if you swallow it whole it may get stuck? I take small ( tiny) bites of each gummie and chew it until its completely broken down. Then swallow. Its the only way I can get vitamins in without upsetting my stomach, been that way my whole life. Regular vitamins are just too hard on my stomach. I am super cautious about everything that goes in my mouth, and have never had anything get stuck. No vomiting at all since surgery. ( I HATE to throw up! ) I guess its like everything else with the sleeve procedure, every doctor has his/her own opinion about pre-op diet and post op diet, as well as vitamins. I would follow your doctors guidance and if the vitamins are especially hard on you - ask about gummies. What can it hurt? It might help you.

    vitamin crisis!

I have never been able to take Vitamins without upsetting my stomach ( before or after surgery) BUT I discovered gummies and they saved the day. I double up on Flinstone gummy multiple vitamins and take 2 Vitamin C gummies a day. I take small bites of each gummy and chew...chew..chew. Goes down with ease. Also Viactive for Calcium, Vitamin D and K, chewy chocolate that actually taste good. My hair and nails look the best they have in years! Who knew...

    6wks Postop and obsessed sex

Please, please make an appointment with a counselor to work out some of these feelings. You owe that to yourself and your husband who is deployed in service of our country. You have to know that guys worry about leaving their women at home when they leave. Many women step out on their deployed husbands and marriages fall apart. As a military wife, please don't burden your husband with your new sexual obsessions as that may be a dangerous distraction for him. Sorry to sound like a lecture, but I've seen too much of this and it just breaks my heart.

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I had surgery on Jan 8th, and I'm down 21 lbs so far. No complications and the only real pain was from gas. Once that was resolved, no pain at all. The left side is still tender and I cant sleep on it, which is a bummer. Got the staples out yesterday, yea! I wanted to take them out myself I feel better everyday, have had no vomiting or dumping. Thank god. Going back to work on Tuesday and I'm ready. The recipes shared on this site are super helpful, make sure to check that thread out.
