    Sleeve complications!

Thank you again for your thoughts and warm wishes... The stent was removed today and for some crazy reason I asked them to save me the stent :-) Still heavily medicated - was able to drink about 12 oz of apple juice today. Let's see how the upcoming days go. I'm hoping this is the beginning of the healing process. I also found out i had Clostridium Difficile - which is a virus in my stool. No other major procedures without a second opinion.

    Sleeve complications!

Thank you for warm wishes!!! The Dilaudid is typically combined with anti nausea meds - this week I find Zofran and Tiegan work well. They give to me about 15 minutes before they give the Dilaudid - but still 60% of the time I end up throwing up.
  3. Hi All ~ Some of you know that I've been having a lot of trouble with my Water intake - including protien and all liquids. Been back to the hospital twice to get IVs to get rehydrated. I'm now 17 days post op. Any rate - wanted to share with all that are experiencing something similar. My surgeon (after asking him) says they can set up a nurse to visit me at home a few weeks to give me an IV to keep me hydrated and include some nutrients - this will help keep my body going until I'm able to start fully drinking on my own. Wish I had know about this option a week ago :-(

    Dehydration

Not Drinking enough liquids a day is your biggest indication. If you feel thirsty and your mouth is dry - that's means your body is dehydrated. Severe dehydration which what I had - that's when your muscles start to cramp up - weakness - headache. If you think you are, please call your dr.
  5. In the same boat - few days shy of three weeks and still only drink about 15 oz of liquid a day. My dr. Said not to worry about the protien now - he just wants me to focus on hydration. The dr had a catherter inserted into my arm late last week and we are scheduling a nurse to come buy the house a few times a week to get an IV for hydration until I can hydrate on my own.

    Any one from cali?

After a few oz I have that full sensation and it lasts about 10 hours - I can't get anything else in with vomiting :-( At the Dr's today - hope there's so magical cure to get me back to somewhat normal. Just enough to give me some energy.

    Any one from cali?

I'm in LA - sleeved on 12-12. Pain isn't so bad - take advantage of the meds. My only problem is taking in my liquids. I'm not the norm - i only take in a handful of oz of Water and protien a day. Working on getting that up.
  8. Hi Heart - I'm near Rosemead. Good luck with your sleeve - hit me up if you have any questions :-)
  9. I had my surgery 12 days ago but was re-hospitalized only two days after leaving from dehydration. Lost 11 pounds in 3 days. But they kept me in for 3 days. Scary part is that I'm still not drinking much and I barely got a few oz of Protein these past 5 days. Hoping I dont end back in the hospital. Praying for you and hope all gets better!

    No Appetite

Lionheart - so sorry to hear about your experience and I'm worried I'm heading down your path as well. My surgery was on 12-12 - was released on the 14th and ended back in the hospital on the 16 th for 4 days for dehydration. Practical fainted in the shower. Leaving the hospital I was full of energy - the IV and Vitamins they pumped in the IV were wonderful. Just wish they made IVs for home.
  11. Hello Buddies!! So it's about 11 days post surgery and I still don't have an appetite to drink any protien shakes or anything liquid or puréed. Even Water - I force myself to drink 8 oz a day. I'm worried I may end up in the hospital again. It's just the thought of putting anything in my mouth makes me want to vomit.

    No Appetite

I have been taking the anti nausea - but that triggers headaches which in return makes me nauseous. Go figure! Going to try and schedule a follow up with my dr hopefully for tomorrow. Thanks ladies!
  13. @amytug - I've been having trouble taking in any liquids - no appetite to put anything in my mouth - just the thought of it makes me what to vomit. Becuase of this I have no energy so I find myself in bed most of the day - very depressing.
  14. I think wtf did I do about 500 times a day... But I find my encouragement by looking at some of the before n after pictures in this form.
  15. Salaam Ladies!! I was sleeved on 12-12-12. What a date to remember. I'm from Syria - but currently live in southern California. Not doing well with my liquid intake - find it hard to drink more than 8 oz of Water a day and about 4 oz of shake. It sucks watching everyone enjoying dinner and you know us Arabs - its a feast every night :-) Love this post!!!
  16. Hi Last Week's Sleevers! Checking in - how are you doing? Was sleeved on the 12-12. Was set back on the 16th by dehydration and ended back in the hospital (couldn't drink Water or any Protein shakes). Glad to report today that I should be leaving the hospital and I've been gradually been able to drink 8 ounces of Protein shakes with a help of a stop watch - a sip every 5 minutes :-). Going to try some sugar free Jello and pudding later today. How is everyone else doing??

    Last Week Sleever?

It's been 8 days since my surgery and I gave in today - I made some cream of mushroom Soup and had about 7 spoon fulls - I just couldn't do another sip of that Protein shake. To my surprise it went down very easy - easier than Water - and feel like I can take on more protein :-)!
  18. That sounds strange - they let me eat ice chips within an hour of recovering and sip on Water the same night. But I guess each dr is different. Ask for ice.
  19. Sorry to hear - I was like you. The first day/night were the worse. Dr had to give me stronger meds and the anti nausea meds were gods send. Don't be shy to ask for meds - it will help you relax and get some sleep. Keep hydrated and do the walking.

Less than 3 days post op but..

So sleeved on 12-12 and still have trouble taking Water Protein n meds. Each time I swallow I feel a gas bubble moving in my stomach. I haven't been able to pass gas or burp to get anything out. I find a heating pad very relaxing n drinking warn liquids helps. But I also didn't get the leak test done. When I asked the nurse she said my dr doesn't require it.
  21. Hi all, I'm three days post op and it's rough. Have any of you experienced coughing episodes with green mucus? Worried about an infection.
  22. I've been doing the breathing exercises every hour. Luckily I don't smoke - one less thing to suffer through :-). Coughing it out is painful - it happens about twice a day. I guess I'll text my dr about it. Thank you all - love the feedback.

Less than 3 days post op but..

I Was sleeved on the 12th - just left the hospital a few hours ago. Still sore - I find that walking helps with the pain - must say the first few minutes of walking hurts.
  24. It's day two and I'm still in the hospital. I'm having trouble with liquids. I drink one table spoon of Water and I feel like I've swollowed a golf ball and it's ripping my stomach apart. Is anyone else experiencing that?
  25. Ms.Cali

    Day two post op!

Thanks everyone. After taking the pain meds I find it easier to swallow. Been trying to get fluids down before the meds wore out. Still just water - shakes are thick.
