All of my December sleevers...
Ms.Cali replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I find the people on this form are understanding - even if their experience is different and can't offer advice - at minimum they will offer encouragement. :-) I'm still losing steady about a pound a week. But my journey I must say wasn't the norm. Went from IV bags for about three months feeding me to soft foods. Was hoping after 15 months my restriction would be a little less - but it's okay. Had a good talk with my dr... He agrees that I need to stop losing. Step one to do so, is to add a meal a day. Step two, add a Protein Drink. Step three is to interfere medically (stretching the sleeve). But we both agree - that is at a last resort - only should I become under weight. So far now I've been adding a delicious Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich at 2 am when I can't sleep. Yummy!! -
What part of NW? I'm currently in the NW.

All of my December sleevers...
Ms.Cali replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I am still losing and trying not to worry yet. At my annual in December the nutritionist told me to stop losing. She wants me to eat 1400 to 1600 calories per day (up from 1200). I've been eating 1400 but just don't have room for 1600. I still can't do bread, potatoes, or Pasta. I was at a conference last week for work. I went to the hotel gym 3 times in an 8 day period fit 30 to 40 min on elliptical so not excessive exercise. I ate ice cream and candy. Bag lunch was provided with sandwich, chips , and cookie. I didn't eat bread but ate the rest. I thought I would get on the scale when I got back to see if I had 3 to 5 lbs to lose. I had lost a lb. I've lost 4 to 5 lbs in the last month. I may have to call the doctor soon. My BMI is now 22 and I really can't eat more. I hear you, the only way for me to get my calorie count to 1400-1600 range is by eating junk food. I went through a few days where I had to have my candy bar - I would eat a few bites throughout the day until it was gone. Those few days I didn't loss weight - but I must admit I felt like crap.My BMI is 20.5 - I love my greens and grilled Proteins. I can only have 3-4 bites of breads/pastas/rice before I get the 'stuck' feeling - still hard to eat them.I still have about 20 pounds to go before I'm in the "under weight" category - so I'm not too worried. If I continue to lose at this rate I would be 4-5 months away. So hopefully I hit the stall before than and start to gain weight. -

Hello my fellow December 2012 sleevers... Quick question... Are any of you still losing weight? If not, at what month did your body stop? The reason I ask is because I'm still losing around around 3-5 pounds a month. My BMI is still in normal range (low side of normal). -
I had my sleeve same time a year ahead of you. Congrats on your new chapter in life. :-)

Sleeve bust open?
Ms.Cali replied to Jordan.brown2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a huge gamble you don't want to take for several reasons... As stated in this thread before - this a major surgery and we all worked so hard to have it, when others tried and weren't able to for one reason or another. Please stick to your diet. -
9-10 months out Gallbladder removal
Ms.Cali replied to Lhollingsworth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine out 6 months after my sleeve. I'm now 10 months post sleeve and still losing weight. I should be hitting my goal in about a week. The 2 weeks after my gallbladder surgery - I lost about 10 pounds. -
Some odd symptoms..anyone else have this?
Ms.Cali replied to Justinh125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you on any type of medication? They gave me certain medication in the hospital that did that to me. It's best to discuss with your dr. to make sure there isn't anything serious going on. Also a pinched nerve in the back/neck could cause this. -
Been there as well... I call it the "WTF did I do to myself" phases. My dr warned me that I will go through it. Take it one day at a time - and in a few weeks you will be on solids and somewhat normal diet. The first few months are the hardest and I promise it will get better. Try as much as possible to find some you time. Ask for help from friends and family. The most important thing is to stay hydrated. Don't stress as much about the Protein intake - that comes secondary to Water and hydration. Stay positive - the suffering you are going through now is the cost of getting healthy. It's no walk in the park - but once your at the end of the tunnel - you will see it was worth it all. Hope this phase goes by quickly for you!!

September 5 sleever
Ms.Cali replied to sunnysleeve018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope things are getting better with you... Had my surgery in the same hospital. Had some trouble bouncing back from surgery as well. But ultimately with the right attitude, lots and lots of patience, and with Dr. Feiz's guidance I finally got well. I guess we are the bottom small percentages that have complications and longer recovery time. I'm at point in my journey where I'm finally out of the tunnel, and hoping you're at least seeing the light. :-) -
Impressive stats - keep up the good work. And you must share your "connection" :-)

I am - not sure if it will be in Vegas, LA, or even Mexico for costs. Not sure what to start with. Thinking of a tummy tuck first. My boobs next, went from a DD to a B :-(
-
Same here - I truly don't enjoy eating anymore. It hurts (even liquids). And I never feel hunger so it's very easy to forget to eat when I'm busy or traveling.

Tomorrow will be my 10th month post op. For the past six months I would say my weight loss has been steady - 8-10 pounds a month. With no real stalls. This past 2 weeks I lost 9 pounds. Which I'm loving - only 6 more pounds to goal. But I'm also concerned at how quickly I'm still losing at 10 months out and with a BMI of 24.1. I've been traveling for work this last two weeks and stress level is high - I'm sure I'm not getting in all my calories. But traveling is part of what I do. Has anyone lost too much? Or couldn't stop the weight loss at goal?
-
Thanks - that sounds like a good idea.

I've been on all chicken/fish/lean meat type of foods - followed by Snacks such as veggies or a salad. I've never been able to stomach the Protein shakes no matter what flavor and what brand - so I try and get the protein from my meals. My meals are about 4-5 small bites. I've never weight and calculated my calories. Which could be the reason why I'm at this point. But honestly I barely have time to eat - so I just make sure to grab what I can eat with the condition that its must be nutritious to my body. Thank you for the advise - it really helps! I'll try and up my calories this week - back to what I should be eating and not stress too much until I drop in the low normal BMI. :-)

I decided to have mine in southern LA. I had better support to get me through recovery and the dr I met with in LA vs Vegas drs was a better choice for me. I'm close to the rampart casino.

suffering tremendously..
Ms.Cali replied to imsuga's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an awful recovery. I'm 9 months out now so I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. About 13 weeks in and out of hospital and lots of pain meds - the worse of it all was detoxing from the dilated. 5 days of pure hell. So please use pain meds with reason - even when dr's are offering it so freely. Remember WLS patients have a risk of developing dependencies on drug, alcohol...etc. When it comes to gas pain - heating pad really helped. I didn't get better until I started moving around - try and stay on your feet as much as possible. And than drink drink drink. -
Vegas here - although I travel a lot. Feel free to PM any questions you have, and congrats on your surgery date. Who's your surgeon ?

Anyone Else Not Have To Do a Pre-op Diet?
Ms.Cali replied to terrilo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here - only liquid diet the day before. I think it also depends on your BMI and how hi it is. -
Keep a bottle of baby oil in the shower. While you're still wet (after your done - before drying off) - apply the baby oil on and massage into skin generously. Dry off with a towel, than use your lotion. I had alligator skin until I started doing this. You can also try coconut oil. Works for hair too.

Doc advising Gastric Bypasd vs sleeve... Anyone have that happen?
Ms.Cali replied to Poorehouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Follow your gut feeling - it's your body after all. Get a second or third opinion. I don't have any sugar or fat in my diet - barely enough time and room for my Protein. But I made sure I had a few bites of my birthday cake. I had no problem with it. Had another few bites the next morning too for Breakfast. :-) -
Meds making me feel full
Ms.Cali replied to FRED1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue - was terrible and ended up in the hospital cause my stomach final had enough of the pills and not enough nutrients. Some ended up being given to me via IV. Talk to your dr about it. Maybe he can eliminate some for a short period of time? Or even cut down on the frequency.
