Wow, 5 1/2 years. Impressive. Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. Every time I quit I swear that I will never start again. You should be really proud of yourself for stopping. My doctor used to tell me that he'd rather have me 25 pounds overweight than to have me smoke.

Problems before 1st Fill??????????
seppi replied to almostready76's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I cannot remember about before my 1st fill but I can tell you that I pb'ed and slimmed when I had no fill just recently. I had some restriction when my fill was removed. Not as much as with a fill but I did have some. You have to remember that the stomach is still restricted, even without a fill. -
I know how you feel. I have lost 72 this year. I had to get unfilled about 5 months ago and was on my own. I really should have been better about exercising. I wasn't and now I am having trouble getting back to basics. I know that exercise will help. Connorsmom- could you possible need a fill? Sometimes just a little can make a difference.

Wow you look great. What a pretty dress, you must have felt great!

I had a fill yesterday after being unfilled since March. The doctor put the saline in, under flouroscope and I had intense pain right around the band area, I told him that it hurt and he backed off a bit. He had me drink some barium it started to go through and then came back up. He took a little out and the same thing happened again. We did this several times and he said that apparently the liquid wan't getting moved through into my stomach. He asked if this is what I felt when I had reflux, I told him no, the reflux was just chest pain. I ended up getting .2cc put in. My first fill was 1.6cc then the second put me to 2.6. That was all removed in march after becomming extremely tight. The doctor said htat if I still had problems he would do a motility test. What the hell is that? He then went on to say that if that was a problem the band would have to come out.He said to eat very small quantities and to eat slow. I always do that, well almost always. I really don't understand this whole thing. I have never in my life had reflux. I asked the doctor why this was happening, he said that he really didn't know. Has anyone ever experienced this? What can I do to fix it?

I haven't found anything that bothers me now that the gallbladder is gone. I haven't tried a lot of things since it's removal, about 4 months ago.

I am about a year out and have had a few problems. Nothing major, but problems. I would do it again in a second. I am very happy with my weight loss so far. I am continuing to stay on track. If I hadn't done this I can only imagine where I would be. -
OK. SO the pain is all but gone. I am able to drink liquids OK. I spoke to the MA at the doctors office, he told me that I should be OK as long as I can drink. I tried to do a shake, made it too thick and had to dilute it because it was just sitting, like a brick, in my chest. The MA told me that I could go to the emergency room for an unfill, I don't want anyone touching my band, port, fill body...that doesn't know what they are doing. I am not too full just having some trouble getting things to pass through. Before the fill I had some of the same stuff happening. Once it passes I am fine.

I had no pain before the fill was put in, you know how they put a lot in and then back off as they watch it on the screen. When it was tight is when I had the pain. It went away when he reduced the fill but the barium wasn't moving very well until he pulled almost all of it out. I don't know why I would have a problem with motility, I have been banded for a only a year. I am not diabetic, at least I don't think I am, blood work always comes back great. Things are going down very slowly today, If I drink slowly. I get a golf ball lump if I take a large sip of fluid, it goes up, and then sits, takes a while to finally go down. It's just really strange because there is little fill in there. Prior to the fill I had to eat slow and chew a lot or it was going to come back up. I am a bit confused. 45 minutes to drink a protein shake seems like a bit much. With no fill I could eat a lot, just slowly.

HI, I have been unfilled since March. I have managed to lose a few pounds. It helps that for some reason I have some restriction. I think I could have lost more but I didn't really exercise.I was unfilled following a too tight fill and some gallbladder problems. The gallbladder was removed. I am getting a fill this week after getting my, newly developed reflux problem, under control. Good luck and remember the things that you learned while filled.

Oh God, I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is one of the hardest things to do. I have had to do it several times in my life. I just know that I want them to be happy and comfortable. When my last "little man" my beloved cocker spaniel was at the end, I took him to the vet and the vet was wonderful, explained everything and made it bearable. Good luck, again I am sorry that you are going through this.

72 for me and still counting! -
:clap2: Today is my 1 year anniversary. So much has changed over the last year. I've had a few ups and a few downs but overall it's been great! I cannot describe how many things have changed for the better for me. I have a ways to go yet but for the first time in a long time I see it as possible. I want to thank everyone who answered my many many questions. So much support. This board is fantastic. I am finally getting a fill this week and should be able to get the "losing" going again. I am also promising myself that I will get better at exercising. (I haven't done as much as I should) I know that with the weight loss I have had so far I will be able to exercise without thinking that I will die.

I would wait a little and see if the inside swelling goes down. Try sipping some warm liquids. If the reflux doesn't stop in a few days I would Call the doctor, reflux sucks, don't let it go on too long.

Can you chew gum without swallowing? I did it after my surgery. I also chewed ice. I know it sounds gross but It helped.

Just finished 12 sharp,I love Evanovich's stuff. I have even read her sappy romances that she has re-released Just started Kellermans new book, Gone. It takes me awhile to get though book because I keep falling asleep. The only time I seem to find time to read is when I get into bed. I cannot fall asleep if I don't have a book.

Jammin- I wonder the same thing. I had my gallbladder out and then the reflux started. I hope this isn't a side effect of no gallbladder but if it is at least there would be an explanation for all of this for me.
