Oh Gosh, I am sorry you have lost your band, even sorrier for all that you had to go through. Scary. I would hate to lose the band but I would certainly have done exactly what you did ( and may be facing it in the near future). Good luck.

I have 2 kids 8 and 12 I didn't tell either of them They just thought Mom is on another diet. I don't think they have figured it out. I was back to work in 4 days, including surgery day so nothing was really different for them

THE GOOD: Knowing that I do have something in the closet that fits. THE BAD: Having nothing in the closet that fits (except what I was wearing) The UGLY: My friend telling me that I took the easy way out.

Good luck, how exciting. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

My back hurt following the surgery too, they told me it was the gas that was still inside. I put a heating pad in front and walked as much as I could. It got better pretty fast. Good luck, it will get better every day.

Excellent. What a neat thing that you and your sister could do this together. I wish my sister would have done it with me, I think she wishes she had done it too.

Happy Birthday and what a wonderful gift. Keep up the good work.

I don't burp, I wish I could sometimes. I do have gas, almost all the time. Wish I didn't it's harder to fart at work than it would be to burp.

My band doctor removed my gallbladder about 8 months after putting in my band. No problems, I had no fill at the time. Everything went fine.

I was told no carbonation. I really miss grabbing a diet coke at the drive through... I am too scared it will do something bad to my band or possibly ignite my reflux, which is barely under control. I really miss it but wouldn't drink it flat.

I just saw your thread today. I used Dr. Abkin last year. I think he is a wonderful doctor, the office staff is a little overworked but they are all so nice. Hope all goes well. What part of Jersey are you from?

A skiny woman followed me into the ladies room yesterday.....

What a wonderful feeling that must have been (once you realized who your stalker was) Congrats!!! -
The nutritionist I Had to see before banding suggested vitalady.com they had some good stuff. GNC has some drinks too Oh and Trader Joes has some great pre-made drinks in cans.

I had 2 fills had to be unfilled for 5 months because of irritation and reflux. Recently got another fill. My Dr. does all fills under flouro, thankfully my insurance pays. My unfill was done in the office, I was scared to go to the emergency room, I didn't want a non band doctor touching my port/band.

You absolutely need to call today. I would say wait if you weren't foaming..spitting and the headache. You don't want to get dehydrated. Let us know how you are feeling.

Help - restriction is fine but not losing
seppi replied to Connorsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Connorsmom- I understand the ice cream problem. I am there. I love it. I think about it. I have stopped buying it. I allow myself a treat here and there but I cannot keep it in the house. I will eat all of it. I tried to say it was for the kids or my husband ( all normal weight) but I was the one who was eating most of it. It the 1 thing I cannot pass up. I tried the frozen yogurt but I found myself eating all of that too. I found it better to avoid it. I allow myself 1 treat per week ( I go out for it) if I exercise like I should. Kind of made it my special thing. Good luck. You will find a way to get back on track, this board has so much information and so many different ideas, you will find what works for you. -
IF I drink too fast it comes back up. I don't usually have to sip but I cannot chug anymore.

I would love to lose 30 by Christmas. I figured that would be about 2 pounds a week. I think thats possible, don't you?
-
Leener- I guess we are in the same boat. I would like very much to get off this ride. Any suggestions? How are you feeling? Are you losing? Have they ( the doctors) given you any guidance? I would love to get another fill, especially if I am going to have the reflux anyway. Is it possible it will just go away? I know that the doctor won't let me because he said it isn't good.
-
I am trying to follow everything the doctor says, I will have the endoscopy again the end of October.Maybe all will resolve by then, not too optimistic though, I would love to get another fill, I have the reflux with or without the fill but I guess that wouldn't be too smart (not that the Dr would allow it) my esophagus was irritated and he called it esophagatis (sorry about the spelling) I thought that the nexium was suppose to heal but I guess it isn't healing yet. I thought when I made it through the gallbladder removal I was home free. My first 6 months were a breeze.
-
garlandmom your situation is definitely similar to mine. I didn't have reflux prior to banding, not even when I was pregnant (a lot of friends had pregnancy reflux)this whole situation is starting to worry me. The nexium is working but like I said in my original post, if I forget or eat something weird, there it is there, full force. I really don't get the burning bad but the pain in my chest is terrible.I really don't want to lose the band I am not done yet.

I was too tight in February, that's why I had the un fill;l. Thats when the reflux began. I guess that the too tight fill irritated everything. Maybe staying on the meds and going easy will help resolve? Maybe I am being impatient expecting it to be better so soon.
-
I was un-filled for 5 months. The reflux was still there. The endo Dr. said it was OK to get a fill. The doctors office wanted me on the meds for 3 months to see how they worked. They have been for the most part. I have had to change the way I drink coffee, no food before bed... The endo doctor said that my esophagus was irritated at the time of the endoscopy. I have been following all of the instructions. My fill is a fraction of what I had before either .1cc or .4cc, it couldn't take anymore because nothing would go down although I wasn't tight.

Is anyone sorry they had the lapband surgery?
seppi replied to Melodee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not sorry I got the band. I have had a few problems, nothing serious, but problems none the less. I am thrilled I have been able to accomplish everything that I have. -
Good Luck! And Congratulations!!
