Thank you both. Burping has never been one of my favorite pastimes but I really miss it right now. It makes sense that everything is swollen and will take time.
-
I feel like I need to burp, nothing happens. I had my husband pat me on the back like suggested, again nothing. Is this normal? Maybe things are swollen and it takes time? Any suggestions would be great because I think I would feel alot better if I could let out a huge belch!

I am so sorry someone said that to you, I give you credit for saying nothing to her, I would have made it worse by shooting off my mouth. Like someone just said. What goes around comes around. Perhaps she will find somone or something else she can hurt. People like that always do. They are really very unhappy idiots.

I am five days out and have absolutely no problem wearing my underwire, back hook bra. My incision is about 2" below the wire, I guess if the straps were too loose it might hurt.
-
Just started yesterday- whenever I try to take a deep breath it feels like I can't, there's pressure at the top of my stomach, I think this is gas but will call the Dr's Office when they open, has anyone had this problem? Sometimes when I am lying flat there is no pain but when sitting it can be pretty bad.
-
Thanks, I will try the deep breathing exercises.

I was banded on Monday and was told to start protien shakes on Wednesday, which I did, but I think that they are causing gas. My friend says it's because of the soy and whey in them. Anybody have any tricks to get past this?? I am doing pretty good with everything else, I have to slow down a little bit but other than that I am doing great. I could really go back to work today but I am not going to, I am giving myself the entire week. I never thought that gas pains could hurt so much.
-
Thanks, thought I was going nuts- will try the lactaid. Never thought of that. Never had a problem with milk.
-
I have been walking and trying different things, I think I found the problem. I was using skim plus milk, I think it was making the gas 100 times worse. No that I am using regular skim milk I can handle the shakes easily.

I ws banded the day before you, I didn't get eny morphine in the hospital, I was home in 4 hours. I am still taking pain meds, the port incision is the worst. You will feel better every day. I went to the mall last night and bought my daughter shoes, that was after going to the vet with the dog and the dentist with the other 2 kids, its gets better every day! I am not ready for marathons but I could go for a quick walk around the block.

You seem to have pinpointed the problems and layed out the solutions-that's a perfect way to deal with things. ( according to a management class I just took)Have you tried Zyrtec for allergies, I took it last year, at night, It helped me sleep and it kept all the symptoms away for the entire day. My kids love the propel water, it has a splash of taste and only a few calories. You will get though this, look how far you have come you almost have to expect a few bumps in the road.
-
Cool-And good for you, I probably would have bought them just because of the size. Now you can look for a really pretty pair.

According to my paperwork, I can start full liquids tomorrow. One thing from the hospital said you should pass the gas before starting full liquids as opposed to clear liquids. Does that mean I have to be not bloated? Also how long will I look several months pregnant?
-
I went and got the chewable Gas-x it really did help, along with the walking.
-
I never thought the gas would be so bad. Everything went well, I was home before noon. I am a little uncomfortable but nothing like yesterday. I wanted to cry, some of the gas is passing, any suggestions to help get rid of it? I have been walking a llittle at a time.
-
The gas is getting better. I cannot understand how this could take so long, thankfully I don't have the shoulder pain I heard described (yet anyway) The pain meds kind of make the gas pains bearable.
-
Good Luck, Hope everything goes smoothly.

COME ON MICHELLE ( La Madam) ONLY 7 PDS Till GOAL!!!
seppi replied to I'llsucceed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am impressed, I cannot remember the last time that I was 7 pounds from goal. FANTASTIC!!!!! You have come so far, you are an inspiration. -
Thank you- I am nervous but on top of that I am hungry. No food, just clear liquids today-I guess it could be worse. I don't suppose white wine would be considered a clear liquid. Only kidding but it sure would take the edge off.

I ws told to quit smoking by my Doctor, so I did. Yesterday, I am really having a really hard time., I am being a bitch and I cannot seem to shake it, I am trying not to eat everything in the house but I am having trouble, any advice? I am scheduled Monday morning for the surgery so medication is out of the question.
-
I think you should say something, you need to make them aware. Anesthesia is no joke and you want to be sure that everything is right. I had some surgery about 2 years ago, I smoked. I told them I smoked, they didn't cancel me but told me that I should stop.
-
I have made it 2 days without a cigarette and haven't killed anyone. I am having only liquids because tomorrow is MY DAY!!!!! My doctor knows about me smoking I would never lie to him, I figure he could tell anyway, My point about being a closet smoker is that I will no longer have to hide. It's almost a relief. I guess that if I need some medication I can start taking it after the surgery. Right now I am stressing about tomorrow.
-
I think I was suppose to stop earlier, My date was moved up and I had to prepare myself to quit. I really, really love to smoke. I know I cannot go back to it. My kids and friends do not know that I smoke and I don't smoke at work so that part will be OK, the drive to and from to work, store ... will be hard. My husband says he will stop as soon as he is sure that I have. ( I have quit many times before)

My surgery is scheduled for the11th and I am starting to get scared. I have been reading all of the posts, I am truely hoping to back at work by the 18th, I need to wear a belt with my uniform is this goign to be a major problem? I am also starting to worry about getting enough protien in, is it as hard as it sounds? I guess that it is normal to develop some anxiety before the operation but I didn't think I would be so worried.
-
Thank you all, I guess it is normal to be scared. I ma so ready for this surgery! I had a call from the hjospital today, I am scheduled for 700, I ahve to be there 2 hours early. I hope it goes fast once I get there. I am really excited to start a new way of eating and living healthy. I had my last cigarette yeaterday and I swear that might be harder than all of the other stuff.
