So I met a guy about two weeks before my surgery (a week ago), and everything just sort of clicked. I told him about my surgery, and he's been really open-minded and supportive about it. We've even started calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend -- only a few weeks after we've met. Everything seems fine, but I'm already starting to feel guilty about not being able to go out to eat, get drinks after work, do normal "new" relationship stuff. I know a lot of relationships fail (even marriages end in divorce) after surgery. Has anyone on here gone through something like this AND had it work out? Would it be better to maybe take a break from dating until I'm at least a few months post-op? Or is there a chance this might last? Really confused.

Dose anyone know if we can drink gatorade
lco26 replied to Breeg89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you had the surgery very recently (which I'm guessing you did), I think a little VERY WATERED DOWN Gatorade would be fine. I had some Vitamin Water and Vitamin Water Zero after surgery, as my mom was scared I wasn't getting enough water or calories. However, keep in mind that sooner than you think you'll be able to eat and drink almost anything -- and you don't want Gatorade to be a big part of your diet then, so don't get "hooked." (Or avoid it if it you think this is a big possibility.) I remember when I was feeling really miserable one day I went to a soda fountain and got 1/8 of Lipton Raspberry Ice Tea with lots of ice and water. Lifted my spirits and tasted like heaven, but I wouldn't do that now that I don't "need" it. Hope that helps. -
I had it for a week or so and it was awful. My weight loss has slowed considerably (booo) but the taste is almost completely gone (silver lining, I guess?). Occasionally if I haven't eaten in a while or had a very light day I will get hints of it again. My sense of smell was also out of control for a few weeks.

Need a little encouragement. The scale is slowwww and my clothes don't feel any loser over the past week. I'm 5 weeks out and down about 20 pounds, and the bulk of that was in the first three weeks. I feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong or I've stretched my pouch or something. Any advice?

I'm 15 days out, which is why the post caught my eye. I definitely didn't realize how hard it would be. I "miss" my old habits because they were so comforting... I'd kill to call Papa John's after work one day, but I know it'd probably send me back to the hospital. Same thing with commercials. I'm not even hungry, but when I see something on TV that looks good I get... sad! And then I feel pathetic for feeling sad about food. It really is an addiction. But then I see the pounds dropping off and I know I will be happier in the long run... Just gotta stay strong for the next couple of months. And "celebrations" suck. I am trying really hard to focus on other activities (shopping, movies, etc) as a way to celebrate/relax, but it doesn't feel authentic (yet?). My family, for better or worse, loves to go out to eat and eat together. I feel like that is gone right now... Not looking forward to Christmas, but maybe it'll be better than I'm expecting. Thanks for giving me a place to vent! Happy to know I'm not the only one going through this.

I'm a little over two weeks and I eat 2 ounces of cereal with 2 ounces of milk at least once/day. I tried to stick to what my NUT said, but I wasn't getting enough food. Cereal and milk is one of the only things I actually enjoy. Good luck!

!!! This is why I love VST. Same thing has been happening to me lately. It's a sweet taste... but not a good sweet taste... and I am convinced my breath is awful. I feel normal again. Thanks for the post.

Thanks, everyone... Ashelaine, did your dates with this guy change significantly after your surgery? Ours have, for obvious reasons. Any tips? Anything fun you've found? Any way to make him feel comfortable about eating on front of me?

Thanks. I will try to keep an open mind about it... He is pretty great so it's worth trying to figure it out together, I guess. And Amazon13 - we're going to the movies tonight and then getting frozen yogurt. I'm really looking forward to trying out one ounce of no sugar added cheesecake.

Hey... My name is Lauren, and I had my surgery last Wednesday. I'm a young professional from South Jersey. I'm looking to make friends close to my age that have gone through this or are going through it within the same time frame. Please message me if you're in the same boat.
