You will feel great soon! The blood thinner part was a drag, but I'm off all and happily a 12/10 so the sleeve is amazing. Best of luck!

Hi there, don't fret. Yes. I have an ICD/Pacemaker. It's a good thing. Like an insurance policy. No worries it's a very easy insertion. You have a monitor beside your bed that reads you at night and you don't feel anything but a small hockey puck under the skin. Nothing changes daily. You go in once every six months to have it checked which is just a computer that reads you. I had a cardiac arrest in 2009 at age 43. Seriously so lucky. Two people did cpr and a firestation was across the street. The only reason I'm alive. So IT BEATS THE ALTERNATIVE. Try not to worry. You'll be fine:]

4 months out and falling off wagon
katB replied to mamamareli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just hang in and don't beat yourself up. Everyday when I get up is a new day. Some not so fab foods slip in, but on the whole push your protein and take yourself back to scratch when you start to get nervous about messing up. Sounds like maybe you're not getting the full water in, cause when I do I don't have time to graze or room to fit much else in. Eat wait 20 drink drink drink. snack wait 20 drink drink drink. Helps all around:] And go clothes shopping. Seeing how those smaller sizes fit is AWESOME! And helps recommit issues. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
katB replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Feb 13th was the date and now down 70lbs. 15 to goal, but I want to stay here. The loose arms, and legs are getting too much and I'm in a 10/12 and loving it at 5"8. Congrats everyone! Can't remember my pin so I can't change the ticker:[ -
Careful, even after several months, wearing things like control tops and spanx pressing on my belly made it cramp. I was terrified that I had done something wrong. Give yourself a break and just wear the soft spandex leggings. They hold you nicely but don't have the tight waist that cuts right where you were cut. Take care.

feb 2013 sleevers weigh in
katB replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 2/13 down 60. Yay! highest 243 cw 183 5"9' Question, anyone want to stay at the weight they're at. I like this stage. In a 12/14. No belly at all and pants fit really nicely. I'm starting, however to not like the loose skin happening on my thighs and arms. If I go to goal then it will really hang, but I feel almost guilty not wanting to go lower. Anyone relate? -

katB replied to emmyjeep2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I hear you. I'm on fondaparinex (same but not heparin) once a day for six weeks. Sick of all of it. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
katB replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Guilty to say, I'm feeling kind of blah and sometimes paranoid. Sleeved on the 13th and the stomach part went well, no nausea. Slow going getting in the liquids. But I had the worst of the constipation angle. (Suggest anyone going in, if you were bound up from the shakes pre-op get on the stool softener the minute you get home.) Sorry for gross out factor. Impacted. So stool softener, miralax, suppository, and mineral oil enema. Pressure and pain on the stomach. Made it through the humiliation onto sharp pain at drain site and all the way down to end of drain. Bad gas pains followed and are just now easing up. Tired of all this. Everyone is excited and I should be too. Down 30 lbs. But I feel like Private Benjamin. "I just want to be normal!" -
heya, congrats btw. I am a 2/13:] Can you not do the skim milk with the protein power shake? It takes a while to get it down 2 oz at a time, but there's not a bunch more that will give as good a protein hit as that. I'm headed out to get no flavor whey protein powder to add to soups, and yogurt. Our week one (after 2.5 days clear) is full liquid. Basically protein drinks, yogurt, tomato soup, sugar free jello, broths. Looking forward to tomorrow and moving into smushy mode. Been 3 weeks on liquid.

I'd like an invite. One week out today. Doing well.

Sorry to be gross, but five days out and successful, (only trouble constipation) but about an hour ago I couldn't take it any more and pushed like hell. Then suddenly I had a sharp pain way down low. It feels like it's now on both sides and I am having trouble sitting or getting up off the bed. Any thoughts. Should I be going to the ER? Can you strain your muscles? Could gas have shifted? Is there a problem I should worry about regarding the colon? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-
Thanks for answering, but not that low. Like more in the abdomen close to the crease of my thighs. Feels like a sharp cramp ripping through my lower belly. Too low to be stomach, too high to be fissure.
-
heya, I have 6 days left. In on Wed. They have on our liquid diet options to add 1 low fat sugar free yogurt, a tomato soup, and about half a cup of fruit if you're hungry a day. good luck to you.
-
Starting the liquid diet today. Surgery Feb 13. I'm worried that I will forever drink/eat too fast! Shake went down like nothing. I'm full. No issues really, but I can't figure out how slow is the right slow for later.

Getting sleeved tomorrow (before picture)
katB replied to roxannez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck!!! I'm following you soon:] -
I hear ye. I was a coffee fiend! Thought that I'd never do this sleeve because I couldn't have coffee or wine. I am astounded to say after 4 days without it, I didn't miss it. (the coffee) I'm down to one glass of wine a week and am to be sleeved on Feb 13th. I can't believe how one wine hits me now! Kind of cool:] Hang in. The DT's fade and after a week it won't have the pull it does on you now. Just wait and see! Once you're sleeping well and hydrated it won't seem like such a big deal. I promise:] Ticker is not working. Down 15.
-
2/13! Bring it on!!! Excited and a little nervous.
-
Yes. Best of luck!

5 Confessions (Join In)
katB replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this thread. I confess: • that I'm terrified of the surgery to come. (Alergic to heparin and even the surgeon seems worried) • that I keep having my LAST glass of wine (two weeks liquid coming any day) • that I cannot wait for the next month to be over and behind me • that I am jealous of all of you. You are all on the back side of the scariness. -
Has anyone gone into this operation already diagnosed with the heparin allergy? I've had a blood clot and been diagnosed and it seems to be throwing my surgeon a curve. He hasn't decided how to handle yet and I'm a due to be scheduled in a few weeks. This is making me wonder if I should do it at all.
