So, as the title suggests, I am totally freaking frustrated!!! I am almost 3 weeks post op. The first week went well...I lost 10 pounds. Then I hit a stall for about a week and then a couple of days ago the scale started moving down again. I was feeling happy that I had ended my first stall and then bam I gained 2 pounds! I mean I am doing everything that I am supposed to. I use myfitnesspal religiously. I use my fit bit. I have been exercising more now than in the past year. I eat right and drink right. Intellectually, I understand what happens when we stall or gain weight for that matter when our bodies are in the process of losing weight. I've read many articles about converting glycogen, how I might be losing size and not weight, how getting smaller doesn't translate into the scale moving downward. Intellectually and logically I understand and I get it, but emotionally it is too much. So since my life is about moderation and restriction now...I've decided to put the scale away and only weight once a week on Thursday mornings. I found an old tape measure and will also begin taking my measurements. Oh how I wish I took my measurements before hand...it might have saved me some heart ache. Well that was in the past and now....MOVING ON. I am still on my pureed stage which is going perfectly well. Yesterday was a good day. I actually got 600 calories in, which is amazing for me! I do think I need to get more calories and carbs in everyday. It seems kind of low. ON A SPECIAL NOTE. I URGE ANYONE THAT IS PRE-OP OR JUST BEGINNING TO TAKE BEFORE PICTURES. I KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE YOURSELF ON A PHOTO, BUT DO IT!!! ALSO, TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS SO WHEN YOU HIT THOSE STALLS YOU CAN AT LEAST GET SOME PEACE OF MIND BY MEASURING YOURSELF. I TOOK BEFORE PHOTOS (WHICH I HAVEN'T POSTED YET BECAUSE I WANT A COMPARISON PHOTO), BUT I SOOOOOO WISH I HAD TAKEN MY MEASUREMENTS. IT WILL BE HARD TO FACE THOSE NUMBERS, BUT WHEN YOU ARE LOSING YOU WILL BE SOOOOO HAPPY YOU DID.

What a 150 lb weight loss looks like...
LifetimeLoser replied to nikki82's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you for posting! Very motivating for those of us just starting out! -
looking good!

wow...12 months. That is amazing. I can understand why you would do that. It is stressful and I should eliminate as much stress as I can because stress leads to weight gain! I think I just obsess about the numbers. I guess I just want to know that going through all of this wasn't for nothing. If you didn't weigh yourself weekly, then how did you figure out how many carbs, protein, calories etc. you needed for your optimal weight loss? If you have any advice, then please share. Calories during the first month? protein? carbs? Thanks in advance.

Hey girlie! I believe we both got sleeved on the same day. Are you doing myfitnesspal also? If you are friend me...Lanip00h...the o's are zeros. Seems like we are in the same boat...have you taken your measurements? I can feel my clothes getting looser, but no real numbers.

I'M SICK AND I'M HAVING SURGERY IN 7 DAYS! HELP!
LifetimeLoser replied to deli89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sick too. I asked the anesthesiologist on day of surgery and he said I was good to go if I didn't have a fever. -
So I am down to 289 lbs!!! I haven't been this weight since a year ago! I can't believe in the past 3 weeks I went from 311 to 289! That is crazy! I am very happy already that I have gone through with this. I have my one week appointment tomorrow and shall see what the doctor says! I haven't even really been exercising. I have been going walking once a day, but that is more for the gas pains. I still get very exhausted doing things even just my household chores. All in all, I am very happy with my progress. Those thoughts of "what the hell did I do to myself" the first days of surgery are loooooonnngg gone.

vegetarian puree foods
LifetimeLoser replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just made vegetarian chili. I use the fantastic food mix...but I first take chopped up onions, peppers, squash, and zucchini...throw em in a frying pan with some e.v.o.l. to brown and soften. then I put it in my crock pot for a couple of hours. Sometimes I will add some greek yogurt to it for a creamier taste. I have found myself adding greek yogurt to pretty much everything. -
Thanks for the info! It's good to hear (over and over and over again) that stalls are normal.

I'm not quite at 1 month yet, but my nutritionist and nurse say this is the norm. They say people usually complain about fatigue about a month out. Supposedly, this time is the worst so good news it will get better!

DEFINITE DIFFERENCE!!!

Hello fellow losers, I start my liquid diet today and I was just wondering what should I expect? Will I be extremely tired? Or grouchy? Thank you

I put powdered peanut butter in mine and vanilla extract

Daily calorie intake at 16 days post op?
LifetimeLoser replied to skinnygirlinside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We had surgery the same day! On average I take in the same amount between 300 and 400 and that is if I try really hard. I've lost 14lbs since surgery...so we are pretty close in stats. I would also like to know what everyone's average is because I have a real difficult time getting in over 400...especially since everything is low fat etc. -
If you are on clear liquids you shouldn't be drinking premier our any other shakes...they are for full liquid phase. Clear liquids include crystal light, broth, sf popsicle or jello. Unjury products. The clear isopure ready to drink bottles also. I love the grape frost but many people don't like them.

First stall and purees
LifetimeLoser commented on LifetimeLoser's blog entry in LifetimeLoser's Blog
Yeah I called my NUT yesterday asking about my calories and what I should be focusing on. She told me to add some oatmeal into my day instead of some protein. She wasn't so much concerned with my calories as she was with my energy level etc. -
Well, I have hit my first "stall". It has been approximately 5 days since the scale has budged. Yes, yes, I know...don't look at the scale. I keep trying to remember that stalls happen and that I'm probably still losing in size, but it is still depressing to see the same number on the scale every day. I try to logic it out in my head. Like...I'm only eating less than 400 calories a day...there is NO WAY that I can't be getting smaller. I've also read a few good threads on here about what happens physically in your body when you are losing weight. So I understand that I'm probably still losing inches, but I want to see the numbers! I wish I would have taken my measurements prior to surgery. I guess never too late to start. Today was my first day with pureed food! I have been looking forward to this for about a week now. Liquid diets make you soooo sick of liquid diets. I pureed some beef stew with some greek yogurt and that was pretty tasty. I also pureed some chicken in the can with some greek yogurt and some fresh cracked pepper. It looked absolutely disgusting, but tasted yummy. So I am excited about this new stage of food because it actually tastes like food. I was getting pretty sick of all the sweet tasting liquids that I was required to drink. I just keep trying to remind myself that pureed food is the same as eating regular food except my body doesn't have to work as hard. Thinking this way helps me get down the gross looking "meals". I'm still not totally pain free. I still have some pain on the left side of my abdomen. I did call the nurse today just to make sure because everyone else seems to be pain free at this stage. I am confident nothing is wrong. I think it has to do with how many incisions I had and maybe the layers he went through. I really wish it would go away though because I want to up my exercise routine. I am kind of sick of just walking.

yep it took me about a week to poop! I finally brokedown and bought miralax from costco...the huge two bottles of it. You don't appreciate being regular until you can't poop!!!

Pureed Week/ 3 weeks Pos opt Tomorrow!
LifetimeLoser replied to losingit629's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Um yeah...beef stew blended is nice! I am only on day 2 of purees, but I find basically anything I would normally like to eat...blended up taste the same. Split pea soup I just had...yum! And it all looks disgusting. I hear mashed potatoes are really tasty, but I haven't gone there yet. I've blended up only a few things. Things that I usually put mayo in I just replaced with my greek yogurt. And I found the best thing ever today!!! I've heard about it on some threads, but couldn't find it. Powdered peanut butter!!! Yummy. I found mine in whole foods store...its not the pb2 brand, but very similar. I add that to my yogurt...I'm sure it will taste good in cottage cheese and ricotta cheese too! -
So disappointed in myself!
LifetimeLoser replied to oklafarmgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Laura-ven. Tomatoes? But that is a healthier choice than most people make. I hear you on the sweet though. I'm a former sugar addict *crossing my fingers* so it was weird to be sick of all the sweet stuff. I really don't think it is that bad. Tomatoes do have sugar/carbs (fructose)...and are technically a fruit, but I don't think it will harm anything for you. That plus your liquids still probably qualifies for a low carb day. So don't fret...just try to keep on track. Just keep trying to remind yourself that this diet is to make your surgery as safe as it can possibly be. -
What exactly is grazing?
LifetimeLoser replied to sleever10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i think the danger in grazing is people don't realize how many calories they are taking in on a given day. You are supposed to eat every 2-3 hours. Ive been told to have 3 meals and two snacks. I think the difference is mainly that your meals and snacks are planned, weighed out and calculated where as grazing you are just kind of going through the day picking here and there. The serving portions and calories just run away from you. I think if you make good, healthy, low calorie, high protein choices, then grazing won't cause weight gain.
