    4 month pictures

what a cutie pie your are!
  3. 3o minutes before and after...the 30 minute rule before is because she doesn't want my stomach be full of water because I won't be able eat what I need to eat. I don't know why the 30 minute after...but I've read somewhere by another verticalsleevetalk poster...that drinking while eating or drinking soon after helps make your food a slurry quicker...so you get hungrier faster and can eat more. I have a real hard time doing the 30/30...only because if I did that...there isn't enough time in the day to get my water and food in. I try real hard, but I also think I'm more of a 15/30 follower.
  4. I stalled after one week post op. The scale didn't budge for like a week in a half...it even went up one day. I had to limit weighing myself, but as everyone predicted if I kept doing the right things then the scale will move again and sure enough it did.

    Lump in throat?

I had this a few times. It feels like I have to burp, but can't. I looked it up on other forums...and most people said they were put on prilosec. I don't really get it anymore. I plan on discussing it with my surgeon at my next appointment.
  6. I've hit the 30lb mark. I swore I wasn't going to get on the scale, but I couldn't help it...so I compromised with myself. at the end of every month and at dr. appointments only.

    I just can't SEE it!

Start taking pictures of yourself in the same outfit every month...then you can compare side to side...and you will see the differences for sure. 70lbs is a lot of weight! I do agree with Melissa also...if this continues seek help. Those thoughts can lead to depression and then to other things. I see a psychologist monthly (because I was a binge eater). I love going actually...good insight, someone to talk to etc. And it is always the case....where you see yourself every day so it is hard to see the changes...where as someone who might see you once a week...the changes are more prominent to them. But you have done awesome!!!

    pre-op pondering

I have no buyer's remorse whatsoever. Best decision of my life. I wish I had it done 50lbs ago! I'm trying to remember all of your questions... The anesthesia...nah...you won't remember anything. It will be very fuzzy before and after. And a huge chunk in the middle you won't even have a memory of. I haven't had any aversion to food...yet. I can basically eat anything I could before hand. The only thing I ate that was "bad" was a couple days ago...I had a spoonful of this frosting that I was making for my cupcakes for a work party. I had never made it before and wanted to make sure it was good (because I didn't have all of the ingredients and kind of improvised) so I tasted a spoonful...well a half hour later...I had severe stomach cramps...and had to use the toilet. I was like never again!!! Besides that I've stayed pretty safe as far as food choices go. My taste buds haven't changed at all. I definitely don't have the urge to eat all the things that I used to. Loose skin? I know I will have it. When I was 18 and lost all my weight...I already had loose skin on my arms and my belly below my piko! So if I had it then, I know I will have it now, but much worse. I don't know why people talk about being able to get rid of it or if you lose weight slowly you won't have it. That is a bunch of crock. Some people...genetically (like myself) will just have it based on where fat is distributed and skin elasticity. You know your body best...thats something you will have to figure out. I took 2 weeks off of work, but probably could have gone back 4 days later. My job is very sit down, no heavy lifting...so easy peasy!!! I definitely would take a few days off...just for you to sleep! slow loser fast loser? Well...my goal was to lose 30lbs my first month...I have only lost 20lbs. I am not a patient person...so I really wanted my numbers to go down before I go to Ny in May. But after really thinking about it...20lbs in 4 weeks is nothing to fret about! all in all...it doesn't matter...as long as it is coming off then thats great! Dr. Fowler will give you a picture of your stomach if you want it...just ask him...I have mine...it is when he is inside your body. Pretty cool! I really think Dr. Fowler tries really hard not to make too many incisions. My belly button isn't pretty, but thats not his fault. It was from my teenage years when I had an infected belly button ring. The other 3 incisions look fine too! very small. As far as the husband goes...well...no worries. You are already investing your time, money and emotions in this. As long as he knows you are going to do it, then he will be just fine...and afterwards...you will prove to him it was worth it.

gimme a hoop -- I will jump through it

hey. You know if I can manage it...I can always pick you up at the airport on your appointment days. I just have to know like a month ahead of time...and you have to be willing to chill with my two year old daughter. 6 months flies by. You can do it. Do they have a weight goal for you?

I agree...corn is a higher carb vegetable...along with carrots, beats, potatoes. I don't know if you "can't" have it...

Use Your First Six Months Wisely

I never said your tactics wouldn't work. I said it didn't sound healthy or like a LIFESTYLE change. I don't disagree that working out 4 hours a day and eating "nothing" as you put it will get those last 30 pounds off, but I don't agree with the method. Once you get there, then what? Are you going to continue to workout 4 hours a day and eat 800 calories? It sounds a bit obsessive to me which is far from what I want to be. I did this to have permanent, consistent weight loss that would stay off. I've been through the 3 hours a day, 6 days a week regime and blah blah blah. And it did work for me, but that was when I wasn't married and didn't have a child. Those were in my days when I had absolutely nothing else to focus on but myself. I could wear out myself and not worry about anything else. Those 150lbs went bye bye. Now is a different time for me. I realize that working out that much and eating "nothing" is not a life style change for me. It is not something that I can do for the rest of my life. I believe in utilizing my sleeve to the best of my ability, but I want my body to get its fair nutrition also. As far as the last 30 lbs a year and a half later, I will jump that hurdle when I get there...but that is a very long time from now and I will be taking advantage of my sleeve until then.

    99lbs Lost!

you look good girl! keep it up.
  16. my husband was home for a week taking care of my two year old. I would sleep most of the day for the first couple of days because I was soooo tired. I, personally, had a lot of pain in my belly but so many other people say they are just fine. You won't be able to lift them in and out of car seats for awhile too.

    First restaurant experience

So I decided today that I would give in to my hubby's complaining. We went to Ihop for breakfast with my 2 year old daughter. I knew how much I could eat so I was trying real hard to think of a way of ordering that would save us money and not waste a lot of food. I am 3.5 weeks post op and on soft foods. I knew I wanted an omelette, but the price was $15.99 for an omelet AND it came with all this other stuff like pancakes and hash browns. So I asked the waitress if I could get it without all that stuff (meaning...like as a side order) and she said yes. Well...fast forward 30 minutes and the bill comes and I still was charged the $15.99!!! She said there was no other way to ring it up. Ugh...that was sort of what I was asking! I know I wasn't very clear on that, but I figured it was common sense that of course I could order something and tell them to hold them, but pay the same price. Anyways, lesson learned. I ate about an eighth of my omelet (which was yummy) and told the waitress (at the end of my meal) that since I had to pay for it, then I would just take it to go. I took them to my mom so she could enjoy the pancakes. So I don't really know if I will be eating out again anytime soon. It was a huge waste of money and food. I will be eating that omelet for the next few days. On a happier note, my daughter was ecstatic about her pancakes and her sausage which made this mama happy.

    Isopure

i bought a whole case prior to surgery so I could make sure I had something easy for my clear liquid phase. They also really help to get your protein in when you move on to full liquid phase. I am a fan of them...not all of them. I know most people can't stand them, but I drink them warm/ cold/whatever. Grape and alpine punch are good!!! I find I am not the norm on liking the isopure so you might want to go grab a few and taste them first.
  22. the best thing ever. powdered peanut butter...amazon sells it.
  23. I really just want to know for those of you who had this problem... You know the line that develops from a fat roll overhanging over another area...does it go away when you lose weight? I just noticed today that I have it under my back fat roll (I've never noticed it before), but it is very distinct. If you have had it, then you know what I'm talking about.
