  1. yeah you have an awesome body!
  2. No, but if you go to the down to earth website they have some really tasty tofu recipes. I like using nutritional yeast...soooo good.
  3. i have a prescription for imitrex also. I was told not to take pills for a few months after surgery. One day I had a migraine so bad ( I was about 2 months post op) and decided I would deal with whatever came my way and took my pill. Well, it wasn't good. Within 5 minutes my chest tightened up, I felt very hot, faint and clammy and had to lay down. It didn't pass for about a half an hour. I'm afraid to take a pill that big now. My NUT/DIETITIAN suggested imitrex shots. I guess this exists??? I haven't checked it out, but that might be an option.
  4. I need to get my head back in the game! Where is my mind? where is my mind? *hums

  5. definitely one of the hardest things about this lifestyle change. I do agree, that small bites makes it easier. I am still working on this. I tend to take big bites...big enough that its hard to chew the recommended 30 times because it all gets pushed down my throat without me even trying. It does get easier. It also helps not to wait too long between meals so you don't try to inhale your food. Like I said though, I am still working on these issues. Slowly getting better, but definitely not perfect.

Advice please, felt lightheaded in exercise class

I felt the same way yesterday while working with my fitness trainer. What she makes me do is VERY INTENSE. I almost passed out while resting from doing squats. (I didn't tell her until afterwards which she scolded me for). I think it could be a few reasons that might be affecting the both of us. I might not be getting enough nutrition or calories to support the intense exercise I'm doing. I have been struggling with getting over 800 calories and have recently found my balance and now am up to about 1000 calories a day. The night before I trained I also went to bed super early and hadn't eaten anything until right before training...so that could be another reason? Dehydration is another possible reason. Are you drinking enough Water? And weights can temporarily affect your blood pressure as mentioned above. Also if you were using kettlebells, you probably were using mostly your leg muscles which we tend to push harder because they are such a large muscle group. What I eat before I workout is a Protein Shake with a banana...actually I put one cup milk, 2 scoops of my whey Protein Powder, one apple banana, and some flax seed flakes...and drink half before my workout and half immediately after. Good luck, Let me know what works

    10 week post op appointments

So I had 4 appointments yesterday...3 revolving around my sleeve and the other one was my dentist. My appointments were with my nutritionist, fitness trainer (part of my weight loss program), and my sleep specialist. Good news is I weighed in at 257 pounds! I don't have any complications and it seems I might be able to stop taking my nexium. Bad news is my premier protein shakes that I have had to drink twice a day have been staining my teeth! Ugh. So I guess I am going to have to switch from my chocolate version to a lighter color when I'm done with the 3 boxes I just bought from costco. My nutritionist appointment went fairly well. She doesn't have any real concerns. I learned that I have, once again, not been getting enough calories in. I average around 600 calories a day. According to her, others at this stage are already up to 1000 calories. I was concerned and asked her if this is going to affect my metabolism because it has been 3 months, basically, since my body has been in a severe calorie deficit. She recommended that I try real hard to get my calories close to 1000, but no more than 1200 so I don't hit stalls etc. I think if I could manage to eat that many calories, then I would lose weight more consistently and hit less stalls. My other appointment with my fitness trainer went well. She was impressed and very supportive about all the steps I am taking to be more active. I expressed a little disappointment with how "slow" my weight loss has been considering all the effort I put in and the first thing she asked me was, "are you getting enough calories?" So, right now, my calories are my main focus. I don't think I am a slow loser, but I think the weight should be coming off quicker considering my age, bmi, and activity level. I have always, in the past, lost weight fairly quickly so I feel something is just a little bit off. I am putting every effort into eating more calories. This is a daily struggle for me. I feel the only time I can manage upwards of 800 calories is if I eat slider foods, fried foods, or high sugar foods...all of which I want to try and avoid. I am still figuring all this out and am extremely frustrated!!! I never would have thought that I would be frustrated because I am having difficulty getting enough food!!! I want to do everything I can to keep the weight coming off at a consistent pace with no stalls. The only issue right now is that I am not eating enough calories to support my intense workouts. Yesterday, I tried real hard. I basically ate from the time I woke up until I went to bed. As soon as I could eat something...I did. I even let my husband take me to Ruby Tuesday's thinking this could help up my calories. At the end of the day, I did reach 1200 calories, but I felt crappy and overly full. I actually felt extremely tired like I was going to pass out...I think from eating too much. I don't like how I felt yesterday! Today, I wasn't hungry ALL DAY. I drank most of my meals. So I am sort of at a loss. If I stuff myself just to get my calories in, but am not hungry the whole next day, then what? All in all, I don't want to stuff myself. I want to just eat normally when I'm hungry. I guess I just need to find higher calorie foods or make them. I am extremely dedicated in upping my calories because I truly feel that my weight loss will be better and more consistent. Oh and I am definitely losing some hair. No one can tell, but me because I have soooo much hair! My brush has extra hair in it, my rubberbands, and the hair catcher has extra hair. I hope it doesn't get too bad, but it was still worth getting my sleeve.

    Anyone wear smaller shoes now?

yep. about a month after surgery I bought me a brand new 120 dollar pair of workout shoes since I would be going to the gym fairly often. They are now too big and my feet slide around in them. I've been thinking of getting thicker socks for now because I love my shoes sooooo much.
  9. my nut recommended a little bit of coffee...it did the trick for me. good luck.

    check, check, and check

awesome lady! Maybe they were talking about a underwire bra??? It is funny. The more people I tell I had surgery the more people I find out have had it too. It is really weird. i think it is more common than people realize.

    Can't get enough protein

you risk losing more muscle mass if you don't get in your protein because your body will break down your muscle to use for energy. Granted with the massive amounts of weight that we lose with the sleeve it is very difficult to not lose ANY muscle mass, but getting in your protein will decrease the amount you lose. Muscle mass needs to be maintained because it burns more calories than fat. Losing 50 pounds is great, but if 25 pounds of that is muscle...no bueno.
  15. holy cow woman! you are soooo tiny!

I want to know honest calorie intake

I am of the group the tends to eat less than 800 calories a day. I just went for my check ins with my NUT AND MY FITNESS TRAINER TODAY. Basically, my calories have always been a concern for me since I started eating real food. I eat 5 times a day and average between 500-800 calories. When I first started doing cardio I was able to get 1000 calories a day. I have to try really hard to get anything over 800 calories or eat something very high in calories. I was told today that people around my post up time are already up to 1000 calories. My NUT recommended getting close to 1200 calories, but not more to keep my metabolism up. Also, the amount I work out and the intensity at which I work out I need more water, protein, carbs and calories. Today I feel like I have been stuffing myself and my total calories is 562 and it is 3pm. gah! I don't feel well when I eat a lot, but I also don't want my weight loss to stall. I am not considered a slow loser, but my NUT suggested my weight loss might be quicker if I upped my calories. So I am going to try REAL hard to up it to 1000 calories a day. My diary is also viewable on myfitnesspal if you are curious as to what I eat. I had surgery January 30, 2013. username is Lanipooh...o's are zeros

    Vitamix blender

As a veteran starbucks worker (12 years) I have to say that I LOVE both vitamix and blendtech blenders. We started off with blendtech and switched over to vitamix eventually. You know if starbucks invests in it, then it is a good product.

    how to relieve doms

Hi guys, I have been seeing a fitness trainer for a few weeks now. Every time I see her I get some serious doms. Right now I'm having a hard time sitting or bearing weight in a downward motion because of the squats and lunges I did yesterday. Anyone have experience with this And how I can recover faster? Or how to relieve some of the pain?

    how to relieve doms

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. It usually happens 12-24 hours after you exercise. Your muscles feel stiff, weak, sore etc. It is more common when doing intense leg exercises. Most people get them when they start doing squats. I got doms because I just started a very vigorous training session with a fitness trainer.

    Bougie size?

38 here! My surgeon does the 38 standard. Through his experience this size provides the greatest weight loss with least complications. I thought it was big when I heard other people's sizes, but when you see pictures between the sizes it is such a small difference. I have great restriction. I am 10 weeks post op and feel very happy with my size. Honestly even if I had like a size 60 I still think I would be eating far less than I did before and i probably still would lose weight...maybe just not as quickly.

    Doctor is disappointed

Yeah I don't know what your dr. Is talking about!!! Is this your surgeon? Every time I go to my surgeon he seems pretty happy with my weight loss and I have not been losing 5 pounds a week. He never really says anything about the numbers as long as I feel good, I have no complications and the scale is going down. I think you should continue being happy with your progress. I just try to remind myself that even if someone is a dr. Doesn't mean they were top of their class. He could have barely passed his schooling which is scary. I have full faith in my surgeon and he seems the type that had all a's...haha so keep your head up. You are doing great and it will continue on your own body's time schedule.
